My country Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories. It borders USA on the North and USA Alaska on the South East. My country is one of the largest in the world consisting of 9.98 million square kilometers. Originally, my country was inhabited by Aboriginal people. However the British and French invaded the land establishing significant administrative settlements. There have been changes in how people relate to each other in my country. Territories that are now self-governing have different social and political setting. For that reason, there are significant political and social beliefs in the country.
There are significant political and social beliefs in Canada. I believe the social value define our society. The ideology of political parties is largely conservative, liberal and social democratic. The ideology is generated from social movements, for instance, women movement in the country. There are also stereotypes fueled by the anti-globalization movement, which encourages social justice for less developed nations that encourages democratic decisions making. In my country, there also exists humanism and egalitarianism that have far-reaching political and social welfare beliefs.
In my country, there are multiple values that enhance the quality of ideologies, which ends up treating people with respect to each other. The quality specifically enhances the integrity, dignity and facilitates self-determination and self-realization through helping Canadian accepting and advocating for social justice principle. Finkel et al. (2006, p. 54) believes that the social policy reinforces the country ethics by helping people to have a sounding political system. Social conservatives value traditional gender roles with women working equally as men. The country also pursues social liberalism and reform liberalism theories. This help to focus on positive freedoms and opportunity of personal development. Urmetzer (2005, p. 131) indicate that the Canadian state creates conditions for the development of full potential of all Canadians. In this case, social policies supported by the Canadian people encourage the counteraction with each other.
Basing on the above argument, there are factors that have shaped who we are. The most important factor is the democracy conceived by the people of Canada. Through the democracy, social democrats have continued raising the adequacy of the benefits under the Universal programs, for instance, the Old Age Security. Concisely, existing labor force related programs, for example, the Canadian Pension Plan, as well as, equal pay to women has continued bettering the welfare of Canadians. Furthermore, the social policies have encouraged the inclusion of marginalized groups. These groups belong to people who have disabilities or recent Canadian immigrants.
Besides, Canada has continued supporting policies that increase liberalism of the market economy. In this case, the recognized primary influence of the primary economy has continued increasing the social policy participation. Robinson (2013, p. 43) for example quotes the privatization of public goods, for instance, the healthcare provision, education, water, cost effective delivery of public goods and contracting out jobs, for instance cleaning and minimization of labor costs and the promotion of private partnerships for trending public goods. Besides, the provision of public facilities, roads, railways, school or hospitals have increased the democratic participation hence bettering the democratic governance. Precisely, the position with respect to gender roles remains a clear policy consideration to the classical and social liberalism in the country. Although there is still the strong reference to male breadwinner model, women are increasing emerging to be strong participants in a social economy, through the provision of paid and unpaid labor.
Recently, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal awarded an advocate 20,000 dollars for successfully determining a complaint against the determination of First Nations based on the race and other ethnical affiliation. This indicates that the social and political welfare of the people of Canada is yet to grow given that there numerous changes in the social and political setting of the country. Canada prides itself on a tolerance of racial and cultural diversity. However, according to issues such as the one indicated, there have been sad stories of racism. Prior to the recent laws, Canada of persons of Asian origin was prohibited from entering the country.
Many people living in Canada assume that racism exists elsewhere and not unfortunate with existing civilized and tolerant forms. Bitacola et al. (2006, p. 64) note that racism accompanies stereotypes that view the original people as creating a sense of backwardness to the country. In my view, racism creates reflections of individual prejudices. In this case, there are systematic practices, institutional patterns and the exclusion that are taken-for-granted with the system of representation.
Canadians endeavor to present a respectable society to their future offspring. Farmer et al., (2011, p. 149) notes that Canadians have the family as a sentimental end with itself end with means for creating a reliable social agency. With time, Canadians are beginning to sort out various groups of children who require specific care. The larger English society wants to increase their childhood society and vary their groups, hence improving conditions with good family life, establishing a system for child and family welfare. Thus, in the future, the Canadian society will be required to transform their education to meet the needs of the basic society. Specifically, it will be important to transform the education system to organize a pattern of child and family health care. Besides, the educational system should consider the interests of the aboriginals. My work will focus on the quality of child psychology, which helps in reducing social stereotypes against minor society. In particular, I will encourage Canadian authorities to increase the participation of social workers and not necessary hostile juvenile courts attempting to change delinquent youngsters.
