...would seem as though by some miracle each of us is granted a guardian angel at some point or another and this angel touches our lives in a manner which has an immeasurable effect on who we become and what we do with our own lives. For me this person was not exactly someone who you would expect. My guardian was Aibileen Clark, my family's house maid. Aibileen has affected my life in a way that I still cannot grasp however, I know that without her I could not be the person I am today. A true guardian is someone who wants to make you safe from the harm of the world when they can be there for you and simultaneously make you strong enough to fight for yourself. A guardian teaches you to live happily. Those are the lessons I learned from my guardian personally. It is because of Aibileen that I am proud to be myself today and it is because of her that I feel I am able to be so active in the world around me. As a child my mother and I were not very close to say the least. I was not a "perfect little lady" and so my mother scorned me for this constantly and she generally didn't throw me into the eyes of society. That is where Aibileen came into my life. Aibileen was appropriately called the help around my house. As a child I needed her help even though I can't say I knew it at the time. Aibileen instilled a sense of self pride in me that would carry me throughout my life. After a barrage of verbal abuse from my mother about my lack of worth, Aibileen was always there for me. I remember...

...James Coates Mrs. Kopcak English May 10, 2006 Angels Angels were a major part of ancient civilizations, but how did the whole myth about angels start and has it changed over the years? How does the past compare to today’s world? Are there different classes of angels? What are their jobs, what do their jobs have them doing? The word 'angel' comes from the Greek angelos, which itself could be considered as a translation of the Hebrew word mal'akh, meaning 'messenger', suggesting that a being responsible for carrying messages between the human world and some other realm or realms of existence, someone who is an intermediary between 'down here' and 'up there'. The origins of angels, started back in ancient Sumeria. The Sumerian society is the oldest society that has left us clear evidence of the use of a winged human motif. This evidence is in the form of stone carvings, either in the form of three-D statues or relief carvings that provide the illusion of three-dimensionality. The religion of these people was complex, embracing a wide variety of spirits and gods, but of particular interest was their belief in 'messengers of the gods', angelic forces who ran errands between gods and humans. The Sumerians also believed that each person had a 'ghost' of some sort (what we would now probably label as 'guardian angel') with this entity remaining a constant companion for a person throughout their life. After the polytheistic Semitic tribes had conquered the Sumerians around 1900...

...Most of the men in my family either serve(d) in the military or work as correctional officers for the state. So, I imagine most them would either be a part of the Angels or some type of Guardian/security officer. To go into more detail on the specifics of each (male) family member I think my father would be a Guardian. My father is an extremely nice and approachable but if there is ever a time where he needs to be serious, aggressive, or protective about something he is almost a different person. I think that a bodyguard to a Commander would be a suitable job for his character type. As for my brother he was a marine for 5 years. This kind of narrows it down as to what his role would most likely be in Gilead. Even though he was in the military I don’t know if he would earn a promotion in status after his time in the service. He is very sympathetic with people and I can’t imagine him standing for what Gilead’s society believes (The same goes for my father). The last male I want to share is my grandfather (Maternal). My grandfather was a very high-ranking officer in the US Navy who served for nearly thirty-five years. As for how his life would be if he were to be put into Gilead he would most likely be an Angel who worked his way up the social pyramid or, best case scenario, a Commander. My grandfather is a very by the book individual who loves to get stuff done as effectively as...

...purpose of this paper is to provide a staffing plan for Guardian Angel Daycare center. Although, we are a small business I will provide information that will show with the right amount of employees, possessing the knowledge, skill, and ability (KSA) skill sets we can maximize efficiency and meet the critical business needs at the appropriate times. In order for us to secure the licensure needed for our future expansion. Identify two (2) types of staffing models that could apply to your chosen scenario and determine which model would be best suited for efficiency, productivity, and possible future growth. Examine the significant effect of each identified staffing model on processes that may be occurring within the organization (e.g., outsourcing, contingent workers, consulting firms, etc.). The two staffing models that apply to my business are staffing quantity- level and staffing quality- person/ job match. Both models are critical for the success of Guardian Angel Daycare center. The staffing level will guide me to ensure that I am not overstaffing and suffer from high costs with a facility full of employees sitting around with nothing to do. As well as guide me from understaffing, which will affect my employees by being stressed and over worked. The productivity of my business will suffer, causing me to lose great employees and customers, which ultimately would be detrimental to the success of the business (Conrad). For my future expansion the state of Maryland regulations requires...

...sexy men and women with big smiles on their faces living it up. Billboards throughout any city I have ever passed through have attractive people on them in hopes that their “beauty” will gain your attention long enough to read what they are selling. Is this the true beauty that brings happiness to people? As a society we have become so superficial that we forget about what really matters, the beauty that people possess on the inside. The story “A very Old Man with Enormous Wings” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez depicts a story of a fallen angel that is molting, ugly, burdensome, and considered a circus freak. However, the deeper you read into the story you soon began to realize that this anomaly of nature is there for a reason. He was Pelayo and Elisenda’s child’s guardian angel that they assumed was there to take their child. “Frightened by the nightmare, Pelayo ran to get Elisenda, his wife, who was putting compresses on the sick child.” “He’s an angel,” she told them. “He must have been coming for the child but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down.” Garcia wrote (2013). However, as you continue to read into the story you see that the angel’s inner beauty is that of protection and distraction over the child. Sickness can affect anyone and even with recent advances in medicine we still have children that are born with ailments or contract an illness that alters their life. We see commercials about St Judes Hospital and children with bald heads suffering from cancer...

...darkness. In this definition we see God being light and Satan being darkness as equal forces in eternal hostile battle. This form of dualism is in contradiction as to what Scripture teaches. Scripture starts with God creating not only the earth but the heavens as well. (Gen.1:1) In the book of Genesis we see God as the creator of all. In the ending of Scripture God claims victory over Satan and Satan is cast into the lake fire to suffer eternal torment.(Rev. 20:10). In Isaiah 14:12-14, the prophet addresses Satan as the one fallen from heaven and cast down to earth for his prideful sins against God. In Ezekiel 28: 12-17 God addresses Satan as the King of Tyre, through the prophet Ezekiel. He addresses him as having been an anointed guardian cherub. God says “for so I ordained you.” (vs 14). “You were the model of perfection,”(vs _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________1H.B. ...elements such as a parallel world, flashbacks, an overall fight of good versus evil, control the playback of reality, guardian angels, an attempt to complete a goal, and later an effort to ‘save a community’. In It’s a Wonderful Life director Frank Capra illustrates many elements of fantasy, in which is pulls you into a new world, constructed by imagination. The opening credits, which are illustrated on a story book, are where the ‘fairy-tale’ and fantasy mixture begins. As the first scene opens the town sign is covered in snow, as well as the ground, indicting a Wintery Wonderland, as the camera scans to the town of Bedford Falls. Capra demonstrates the typical small town, the snow covered ground, lights stung in the trees lining the sidewalks, and specialty shops. Even though it looks and seems completely normal you will still have the feeling of an imaginary or fantasy land. The film begins in the present time; the year is 1945 on Christmas Eve. Voiceovers occur, praying for George Bailey. After hearing such prayers, we see a star-filled sky, and what seems to be ‘constellations’ beam with light, and they begin to talk to one another. They initiate conversation on the current state of Mr. George Bailey, because of the immense number of prayers for him. We find out it is George’s ‘crucial’ night and they are sending someone down to help him. The angel whom is sent is Clarence, who is considered a second...

...Chapter 1: The End and Beginning Prologue Facing the young girl and her little sister, the armored knight raised his sword. To have mercy was to take away a life in a single strike. Struck by the sunlight, the sword glistened high up in the air. The girl shut her eyes and bit down on her lower lip. Her expression showed that she never wished for this situation. She was simply accepting it since there was nothing she could do. If the girl had power of some sort, she would have used it on the man before her eyes and ran away. But— the girl had no such power. Thus there existed only one conclusion. The girl would surely perish here. The sword struck down — —Yet she did not feel any pain. The girl opened her tightly shut eyes. The first thing that the girl saw in her world was the sword that had stopped in its path downward. The next thing that entered her sight was its wielder. He had stopped in motion as though he were encased in ice. The knight’s attention was no longer on the girl. The completely defenseless state of the knight clearly revealed the shock that surged inside him. As though led by the knight’s gaze, the girl also turned her face toward the same direction. Then— she saw despair. There was darkness. Pure darkness as thin as paper, yet of an unfathomable depth. It had emerged from the ground in an ovoid shape with its lower section cut. A scene that evoked mystique with indescribable apprehension. A...

...Angels Among Us Last time: 4 reasons why the world is enamored with angels: • Spirit of hopelessness—people are looking for answers and for something to fill their empty spirit. • Spirit of selfishness—Christians are called to be servants, but our society would rather be served than to serve. Angels are ministering spirits / servants, and people want to know what the angels can do for them. • Spirit of the New Age—our society is being conditioned for the end times. The world will accept the supernatural during the tribulation. The antichrist gains power on a platform of signs and wonders. • Spirit of curiosity—we’re all curious about the unknown. Questions people have about angels: What do angels look like? Are they female? Do we have guardian angels? How many angels are there? What is an archangel? Is it possible to see an angel? Do I pray to angels? What about demons, are they real? How are they different? Will I someday be an angel? As believers we have good reason to learn more on this subject…not for the sensational, but because there is an unseen world war going on all around us, and we’re in the middle of it! Angels are mentioned over 250 times in scripture. 1. The word “angel” literally means messenger 2. Angels are created spirit beings 3. Angels are not eternal beings 4. Angels are NOT glorified human beings 5. Angels are invisible spirit beings New info: 6. Angels are innumerable in number Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion...

Then I thought about the journey I have been on to get to where I am and to where I want to be. The song The Climb by Miley Cyrus connected with me in a way I didn’t expect. It actually brought tears to my eyes. When you think about all the hard times you have gone through to just be one step closer to your dream it’s a surreal feeling. Every struggle I faced it felt like Miley was sitting on my shoulder as my guardian angel singing this song convincing me that the end goal with make the climb feel worth it. ...there is no God, and look for arguments to back their opinion. I had the unhappiness to know someone like this, who would always be telling me there was neither God nor devil, and no heaven or hell. It was with fear and trembling that I first heard him speak about these topics, but he spoke of them so often that I felt I must consider what he said. From this time I found my mind so confused that I could not remember the truths about God which had appeared so clear to me before. I could not think there was no God but with the greatest horror, yet I questioned the truth of His being. I would not have parted with my hope of heaven for all the riches of the world, yet now I was not sure whether there was any such place. In my confusion I went to my false friend to see what comfort he could give me. He only laughed at my fears and pretended to pity my weakness. His talks only made me more confused, until life became a burden to me. It is impossible to tell you the agonies I felt, until I was pushed to the edge of desperation. I thought, "Why should I linger between despair and hope? Would it not be better to end my life and find out what is the truth?" So I decided to kill myself. One morning I went out into a nearby woods, where I had planned to kill myself. But before I tried to use the knife I heard a secret whisper say, "Do not fall into everlasting...
