There is just something about that red and extremely hot room that takes the rest of the world off my mind. I would sit and dread going to practice, but then again at the same time it took all my stress away. It was a portal to my own little world, even if it was just a couple hours a day. I loved being the first one out of class to the mat room so I could be alone and turn the lights on myself so I could see the calmest place in the world light up right in front of me. The second I hit that switch it’s like my own light switch goes off and conceals me in that room. The mat room is my favorite get away place. I walk in and take a deep breath and I can feel my body relaxing already and then that strong breath-taking smell of bleach and sweat

...patients, especially those looking to avoid riskier orthopedic surgeries for their chronic pain and those suffering from terminal illnesses. Medical professionals were able to feel good about their ability to help their patients avoid surgery and help them effectively (some for the first time) manage chronic pain. In the 90s, everything changed. There was a swift shift (fueled in a big way by pharmaceutical companies) away from the tentative, opioid-shy opinions of past medical professionals. A new way of thinking emerged in which managing pain became the first focus of treatment. The pain scale illustrations that we have all seen in countless doctor’s offices were produced and used as a first line of questioning in all emergency rooms, urgent care facilities, and doctor’s offices. OxyContin, thought by many to be the drug that started it all in regards to the current opioid...

Adult Learning Project

...I was eleven years old. My parents had split up and my mother went back to work. So during the summer if we wanted anything other than cereal or sandwiches we had to learn to make it on our own. I remember my older brother, who at the time was a cook in a restaurant, sat me down and taught me how to make an omelet and so began my culinary journey. Since that time I have practiced many different cuisines and I am a fairly accomplished self trained gourmet cook. When I was a teenager I used to throw big Italian dinner parties for my friends. Most of this cuisine I learned from my mother and then improved upon the recipes. As I grew up I turned to a more gourmet pallet. I have catered parties for up to eighty guests and planed meal aboard yachts when I was racing in regattas to Port Aransas, TX and Vera Cruz Mexico. These meals were usually focused on French Cuisine and the parties might be themed but were usually including at least eight hors d’ oeuvres and a midnight breakfast of typically American faire. It wasn’t until I was thirty two that I actually tasted my first sushi. I remember the experience vividly. A very attractive woman named Kelly wanted to go to dinner as her boy friend was working late so she asked me “Would you like to go and eat some sushi with me Wayne?” Now her boyfriend and I were friends so the request innocent but the male side of me said “you can’t say no” or she might think you’re not with it, “the in crowd”. At the same time my head was saying “Raw fish...

...James Ronca Final Paper Wrestling is one of the oldest sports in the world. No one is sure who invented the sport but it was first implemented as a real sport in the first Olympics in the year 776 B.C. The origins of wrestling can be traced back 15,000 years through cave drawings in France; Babylonian and Egyptian relief's show wrestlers using most of the holds known to the present-day sport. More modern day wrestling has weight classes implemented so participants will wrestle people that weigh the same as them, thus starting a trend known in the wrestling world as cutting weight. Weight classes in wrestling were implemented in order to insure the optimal amount of fairness for each wrestler before they step out onto the mat. I believe that weight classes are positive to the sport but also negative. Positive in the fact that you don’t have a kid who weighs 103 wrestling someone who is 185, that just wouldn’t make sense. It makes it so everyone that goes out there are roughly the same weight so size doesn’t play a roll. But, this causes many issues as well. I know from experience the side effects of cutting weight. You feel weak, tired, and hungry; you get cotton mouth, and extremely aggravated over little things, everything pisses you off, it’s just an awful mood to be in. Cutting weight often is misconstrued and everyone believes that you just starve yourself to make weight. In some occasions this is true, but that is the wrong way to do it. There is a right way to cut...

Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity

...Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity Delia Stoica Grand Canyon University: HLT-310V February 4, 2012 Abstract The following paper describes three different religions: Judaism, Islam and Hinduism. It will detail the spiritual perspective on healing that all three of the faiths have. A description of what is important to their healing and what is important for the healthcare provider to know in caring for people of these faiths. Also there will be a summary of how these faiths differ from Christianity. Introduction The United States is known as a “melting pot”. This is due to all the different nationalities and faiths that are seen in our country. As healthcare providers we are faced with trying to understand all the different cultures we encounter on a daily basis in a hospital setting. There are many different faiths, some are well known such as Christianity and some are not quite so known such as Hinduism. Different faiths have different rules and regulations that they follow. Knowing all the intricate ins and outs of every religion is going to be impossible, but that should not stop someone from trying to learn all they can regarding the patients they are caring for. Everyone has probably heard of Judaism, Islam and Hinduism, but that does not mean that a nurse or physician would know all the things that would be different in regards to caring for patients of these different faiths. Hinduism Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world. There are...

The two approaches: As clearly stated by Cohen L et al, the core function of teachers and schools is to facilitate or provide support to children’s learning. Research alludes that the school uses two approaches to learning which are the structured learning adopting the England National Curriculum and International Baccalaureate so as to address the different and dynamic needs of each pupil. Teachers are catalysts for learning. In promoting learning there is no single blueprint for effectiveness, though there are very many characteristics of effective learning. Educating Exceptional Children: Using Collaborative Strategic Reading

...The students within these walls came to me with their own uniqueness and various degrees of capabilities. Students were selected based upon their need for improved reading comprehension. After interviewing the classroom teachers (there were 4 different ones) and observing students in their classroom setting the research students were selected. I met with each student individually to get an estimate of what their reading levels might be. The four components of CSR (preview, click and clunk, get the gist, and wrap-up) can be used to stimulate student’s motivation to read, help with decoding print, and comprehend and respond to text. Researchers believe it has improved their students’ reading comprehension, increased their vocabularies, and enhanced cooperative skills, Student’s process over the long term will be evaluated based upon their ability to begin to show automaticity in utilizing the strategies learned as part of CSR. ...A vacation to remember In the start of the story, the main character described how he acted while he was in Bora Bora. He said he wasn’t shy to ask anyone for favors. He showed this through examples like how he asked the farmer if he could help and the bus drive tour with Teróo. When he asked Teróo if he could help out, at first she thought he was joking but in the end she agreed in exchange for a story about him. While the tour was going on, he said that he was from the Philippines which surprised Teróo because there he was the first Filipino she met. While talking and seeing the great sights of Bora Bora, they got to know each other better and eventually, Teróo invited him to sleep with her family and he gladly accepted. While on the boat to Huahine, Teróo’s hometown, he felt nervous because the boat ride was delayed due to the low tide. When he met Teróo’s daughter, Simone, he was immediately attracted to her. She told him that she was just finished high school and was going to college in U.C. Santa Barbara which was why she spoke English really well. When they got on the motorcycle, he that Simone made him wrap his arms around her waist. Usually, he felt awkward around girls. This was the time when he fell for Simone. When they got to Simone and Teróo’s house, he was surprised that it was different from the other islands. It didn’t have mountains and most of the houses were made with concrete. ...Unit 1: Brand Made in Europe Almost every fashion label outside the top luxury brands is either already manufacturing in Asia or thinking of it. Coach, the US leather goods maker, is a classic example. Over the past five years, it has lifted gross margins1 from 55 per cent to 71 per cent by manufacturing solely in low-cost markets. In March 2002 it closed its factory in Lares, Puerto Rico, its last company-owned plant, and now outsources all its products. Burberry has many Asian licensing arrangements2. In 2000 it decided to renew Sanyo's Japanese licence for 10 years. This means that almost half of Burberry's sales at retail value will continue to be produced under licence in Asia. At the same time, however,  Japanese consumers prefer the group's European-made products.  Sanyo is now reacting to this demand for a snob3 (a) thích làm sang alternative to the Burberry products made in its factories across Asia by opening a flagship store4 in Tokyo's Ginza, where it sells Buberry imported from Europe. Culture Dimensions and Barriers in Today’s Business World

...MGMT 501 Paper Assignment Topic The paper should focus on a specific behavioral sciences issue related to the topics covered in the course. The course and textbook present an array of topics from which to choose. For example, topics that fall within the domain of motivation, leadership, group dynamics, organizational culture, and job satisfaction, to name a few, are important, broad areas that have been the subject of much research and discussion in the study of behavior in organizations. When working with such broad topic areas, it is important to narrow the focus of the paper to a specific model or approach. Topics such as the labor market for IT workers, changing demographics in the workforce, or the prevalence of downsizing in the U.S., while interesting, do not necessarily qualify as course-related organizational behavior topics. However, organizational commitment of downsized employees, or motivational strategies for the management of generation Xers, etc., may well be appropriate topics for this course paper. Students may work with a partner (or even a small interest group), and this partnership entails sharing a general topic area and several research references. However, each student should determine his or her own perspective on the topic. For example, one student in a pair can take one position on a paper, while the other adopts an opposing stance (i.e., point-counterpoint). Or one student can research one component of a larger topic, while the other...
