... The adults were laughing softly watching them. A small smile spread across my face. Everyone was so happy and peaceful. Except for me. I had been here for almost 1 hour waiting for my best friend, Chloe to show up. We were supposed to go shopping. It was taking her forever. I was now starting to have doubts that she was even coming. Well, it was kind of getting obvious. She wasn't even picking her phone up. I wonder where she is? She has been acting quite weird and rude around me lately. Something strong tugged me on my heart. I wonder what I did? Maybe i didn't do anything because I noticed her starting to act strange ever since she started hanging out with those new girls. What really hurts me the most is that Chloe and I have been best friends ever since we were 3 years old. We were neighbors ever since. These new girls are ruining 13 years of great friendship. That really sucks! Doesn't it? Tearing away from my deep thoughts, I suddenly realized that all the families and children were gone. Left here alone, I was sitting on the rusty old bench. Odd, it didn't look like this when I came here. I looked at my watch. It was 8pm. Now I knew that she wasn't coming. 8 hours had passed. i got up and wrapped my black coat around me hiding my new beautiful turquoise dress. The winds rustled roughly through the cold stern night. This was the saddest day of my life. I knew I had lost my best friend...

...Once upon a time there was a gorges and clever girl called Tina. She was 8 years old. Everybody liked her but one thing she didn’t like was having a bath before sleeping at night. One night her mum told her that she have to have a bath but Tina said “I won’t have a bath” her mom got angry and sent her right to bed .Tina started crying and just slept. The next morning Tina woke up, got dressed, had her breakfast, said goodbye to her mum and went to school. In school no one sat next to her just because she smelled. When it was home time she went to her mum and told her everything. Her mum said “See that is because you don’t wash." That night Tina had a bath so the next morning everyone played with her in school. That was because she washed and got clean and smelled nice. My Trip to the Beach A long time ago I went to the beach. Before we left we loaded all our beach gear into the car. Continuing down the road my sister and two brothers and I sang songs to keep from falling into the depths of boredom. Deciding where to stop for dinner was a real challenge. Everyone wanted to eat at a different restaurant. Finally Dad stopped at Cracker Barrel. I chose green beans, potatoes, and steak for my dinner. We all drank hot cocoa and whipped cream for dessert. Initially we had hoped to reach our destination, Pensacola, before midnight, but it seemed impossible. Just after we crossed the Georgia/Florida border my dad stopped at a hotel. Keeping quiet not to wake the others...

...Standing before you on this day reminds me of my 8th grade graduation. I sat on the stage listening to three of my peers give beautiful speeches that had nothing to do with any of the feelings I felt. The speakers harped on the nostalgia of leaving a school they had been at for nine years; I had only been there for three. They spoke on how they would miss seeing the same faces everyday and that they feared the days ahead – however, I was excited. When I thought about the future I saw all the things waiting for me to come and try. I saw the new friends I would make, the papers I would write, the softball games I would win, the clubs and activities I would join, the boy who would be my first kiss, and the wonderful people I would meet who would inspire me more than I realized at the time. Graduation is a time to look at what the future has in store for each of us. It is a time to take a look at what path our lives are going to take once the caps and gowns are taken off and we are thrust into an unknown future. Changes next year will vary greatly for each of us, they will come in the form of new environments, lifestyles, and schedules. And these changes will bring an abundance of questions. Will I be happy? Will I fall in love? Will I have a family? Will I be happy five or ten years down the road? Will I make a difference? Will I make a difference in my community? In my country? In the world? El Cerrito High School graduates of 2010, we...

...by any means. Right before I entered second grade, my family moved to a smaller city in order to escape the booming Salt Lake City. I had to enter into a new school with no friends and to top it all off, most of my extended family stayed near Salt Lake City, almost an hour away from our new town. On my first day of school, I experienced immediate problems: because I was not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I was shunned by a majority of my peers who viewed me as an outsider within their community. Some children sympathized with me and became my friend, only to later attempt to convert me to the Mormon religion. Because my family was, and still is, against the religion, I always refused their efforts. Eventually children stopped trying once they realized I was a child just like them and did...

...Two years ago, my mother thought that it was best for our family to move abroad. I was abashed by this sudden decision and the first thought that came to mind was to what will happen to my life by leaving my father and the country I was born and raised in. However, after reasoning with myself about such decision, I came to conclude that it might be an acceptable choice after all. I was excited to explore another country and experience a new, different lifestyle. Once my mom, sister and I arrived to Montréal, it was not what either of us expected at all. We never fathomed the fact that moving across countries was going to be that effortful and immense. Indeed, it was even backbreaking that none of us was able to speak French, which made it a lot more challenging to fit in. In spite of this I kept my hopes up, hoping that time will cause the obstacles we’re going through to dwindle and that school will aid my worries. Unfortunately, things took a clashing turn, and all my aspiration went crashing...

...10/6/2015 Renaissance Women My talent is more than one talent which some may call it as being multi-talented. I can do pretty much anything once I put my mind to and once it is shown to me one time I will be able to do it without supervision. Below I will list a few of my many talents and compare them from the internet with the outcome of my own work. While home after giving birth to my daughter I picked up a hobby in making baby shower pins. A friend of mine was having a baby shower and needed help in getting her pins done. She was running out of funds so I volunteer in making the pins for her. I went to my local novelty store to see how the pins looked and are made. Once I saw how easy it was I bought all the products that I needed and began making them myself. Once I finished the pins I was very proud of myself and began showing people what I had done. I had gotten great response back which lead to people placing orders and me making this hobby into something that makes me money. My next talent is decorating for parties as well as doing party bags for kid events. My family is the type where we celebrate everything in our lives whether it’s a birth, a birthday, graduation etc. My older cousin was having a party for her son (my little cousin) and the theme was ninja turtles. She asked me if I was able to help her and I agreed to do the party bags. I looked online for unique ideas to make ninja turtle party bags, which I did. Once I found a cute idea I sent it to her and...

...Deceit and Betrayal in Shakespeare's Macbeth Shakespeare's play "Macbeth" is considered one of his great tragedies. The play fully uses plot, character, setting, atmosphere, diction and imagery to create a compelling drama. The general setting of Macbeth is tenth and eleventh century Scotland. The play is about a once loyal and trusted noble of Scotland who, after a meeting with three witches, becomes ambitious and plans the murder of the king. After doing so and claiming the throne, he faces the other nobles of Scotland who try to stop him. In the play, Macbeth faces an internal conflict with his opposing decisions. On one hand, he has to decide of he is to assassinate the king in order to claim his throne. This would result in his death for treason if he is caught, and he would also have to kill his friend. On the other hand, if he is to not kill him, he may never realize his ambitious dreams of ruling Scotland. Another of his internal struggles is his decision of killing his friend Banquo. After hiring murderers to kill him, Macbeth begins to see Banquo's ghost which drives him crazy, possibly a result of his guilty conscience. Macbeth's external conflict is with Macduff and his forces trying to avenge the king and end Macbeth's reign over Scotland. One specific motif is considered the major theme, which represents the overall atmosphere throughout the play. This motif is "fair is foul and foul is fair." In the first scene of the first act, three witches plan their next...

...Hester Prynne’s experience with her punishment didn’t ensconce the scarlet letter, however, embraced the bright red letter. In my life, there is one letter, that has perpetuated me from a young child. “K”, stands for the cliche archetype, of a prolix version of my life attached to every piece of clothing I own. Being kind is a blessing, however having kindness is a curse. Overall, I face society, with the letter hanging off my clothes, but with much mettle, towards obstacles. Since a small child, my parents poured their values onto me. For example, always help others, don’t hold grudges, and be respectful to anyone. Of course, I’m human and steered once away from my core values.People have always said how warm-hearted I am, but no one...

...Running head: COMPASSION FATIGUE: CARING FOR THE CAREGIVER Compassion Fatigue: Caring for the Caregiver Kimberly Flowers Grand Canyon University Spirituality in Health Care HLT-310V Patricia Mullen March 24, 2012 Compassion Fatigue: Caring for the Caregiver Introduction Compassion represents an “acknowledgement of another’s suffering and is accompanied by the expression of a desire to ease or end that suffering.” (Van der Cingal, 2009, p. 124) This is a fundamental characteristic usually found in health care workers and nurses especially. In one twelve hour shift, a nurse’s job can change from taking vitals and administering medications to performing life saving measures or even holding a dying patient’s hand as they transition from this world to the next. And in that same few hours, a myriad of emotions can flood the soul with such force it leaves one drained and exhausted. This would be a very difficult roller coaster of emotions for anyone, but multiply that times three or four days per week for many years. It is no surprise that health care workers are extremely susceptible to emotional and physical fatigue, also known as compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue is that fatigue brought on by giving so much of one’s self for an extended period of time without taking time to revive or replenish one’s own physical, emotional and spiritual needs. This paper will explore the nature and causes of five major...

...four-wheeler cut my head wide open and all I could think was I am dying. Once I arrived at the hospital the nurses talked with my parents to gather information that led to my accident. After assessing the situation that was going on they took me back to have multiple CT scans and X Rays to visualize the extent of the damage. While going into X Ray I remember seeing the radiation sign on the door and I thought they was going to kill me. ...does not even begin to describe me. I am more like “ Give me an inch, and I will take a whole country and conquer it.” I have overcome so many hardships in my life. I started off with a Christian faith based girl. Who loved everyone, and did not care what people thought. A girl whose family meant more to her than water. A girl that didn’t know the evils of the world until she was sent out into the crossfire to experience it first-hand. A girl who would have never thought in her desolate dreams that she would soon turn her back on everything she ever believed in. In my previous years, this war was just a game to me. It tested me, tempted me, teased me, and even at times ripped me apart. I never once realized how much destruction it could cause not only in the lives of my family, but as well as my own. During my freshman year, I felt like a new recruit. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had no inkling about the people I would meet, or the enemies I would make. No indication that success meant having to study every night. No clue that my faith would be tested in every way possible. Not even the slightest notion that the people I love most would be the people I would soon be pushing away. I didn’t expect to be so tired and worn out. Waking up at ridiculous hours of the morning; the foolish acts the school cast upon us, like weekly and sometimes daily metal detector checks. Honestly, I did not know what to expect, but it was nothing close to what I could have ever envisioned...
