Organizations are living organisms. Each one is unique and grows differently, but there are key components that they all have: leaders, non-leader employees, goals/objectives, policies, and clients or stakeholders. These entities within the organization have different functions but help contribute to the overall success or failure of the business. Leaders have the opportunity to serve as guides to other leaders and to those individuals that are assigned to non-leadership roles. An organization’s leadership shapes the pathway that makes or breaks its objectives.
The organization in which I will be analyzing is one that I previously worked at. The names of the organization and its personnel have been changed to protect identities. For all intents and purposes, the company will be known as Accident Solutions. Their key mission is to optimize reimbursements on accident related claims for medical facilities and professionals through the use of technology. For the past 16 years, this company has been dedicated to helping hospitals and physicians get their auto and workers’ compensation claims resolved and paid quickly. The knowledge and experience gained in the initial years has been transformed and adapted recently into software that they hope will revolutionize the industry, making it that much quicker for their clients to get paid.
The business is setup in a typical corporate hierarchy structure. The top managers, referred to as the executive team, are at the head of the organization. Each department has their own middle manager executive team sponsor with a director or manager reporting directly to them. These middle managers have supervisors that oversee teams of between 10-25 lower level staff members.
