All My Sons Reaction Paper

...Through his character, Chris Keller, in the play All My Sons, the playwright Arthur Miller he explores the theme of accountability and responsibility of man which is as universal and relevant today as it was in the post WWII era. Chris Keller calls for corporate responsibility and the human universality of man looking out for man. As humans we have a highly developed brain, capable of abstract reasoning, language, and problem solving, with this in mind if we are smart enough to start of businesses then we should be responsible for the effects they cause. What does it mean to say that "business" has responsibilities? Only people can have responsibilities. A corporation is an artificial person and in this sense may have artificial responsibilities, but "business" as a whole cannot be said to have responsibilities, even in this vague sense(Friedman, Milton). Joe Keller owned a small factory that manufactured many spare parts and Steve was working for him. During the war the factory manufactured cylinder heads for the Air Force planes. One day they shipped some bad parts to the Army which resulted in the crash of twenty-one planes and the death of their pilots. That was a great scandal. Both Joe and Steve were arrested and brought up to trial for that terrible crime. Joe was clever enough to get off with it. He proved to the court that he had nothing to do with the shipped those bad cylinders. Life is full of many hard decisions that people have to take, often on the...

Reaction Paper on Who Moved My Cheese.

...Reaction Paper on “Who Moved My Cheese?” The story “Who Moved My Cheese?” demonstrates that we should adapt change our lives whether we want it or not, and what is important is how we manage it. This is a story of two mice and two little people that live in and around a maze looking for cheese. The cheese is a symbol for what they want in life, whether it is a relationship, a job, or health. The maze symbolizes your life and where you look for what you want, whether it is in your place of work or family. Using two mice and two little people, the story illustrates that it is how we handle change that will decide how happy we are. It allows us to see the choices and challenges we face daily from a different perception. When we are not so close to the situation, we can see opportunities to exercise faith or fear, to grow or be contented. The story tells an amazing way on how to deal with change in our work and even in our life. It helps us to face our fear and be strong to face the reality of change. But most of us are afraid of changes because it is meant to bring something different. Changes can be a blessing or a curse, depending on what are your perceptions. If we view change as a positive outcome it helps us to move on and forget the past easily, as “Haw” did in the story. On the other hand if we view change as a negative outcome, it destroy us and get trap on the past just like “Hem”. I prefer to be just like Haw, a person who learn from his mistakes, accept, moved on and...

My Reaction Paper on the Interrelationship of Language and Culture

...My Reaction Paper On The Interrelationship Of Language and Culture What is Language? What is Culture? How are language and culture interrelated? Language as one element of culture has a very important role in human life. Language allows a person communicating with others in meeting their needs. Thus, it can be said is the main function of language as a communication tool. This does not mean that the language has only one function. Another function is as a tool to express self-expression, a tool to make integration and social adaptation, as well as a tool to hold social control. (Keraf, 1980: 3) Culture is the whole communication system that binds and allows operation of a set of people called the public. Thus culture can be defined as a "system of rules of communication and interaction that allows a society occurs, preserved, and preserved" Culture that gives meaning to all business and human movements. (Nababan, 1984: 49) The verbal expression of culture is language as culture is the idea, custom and beliefs of a community with a distinct language that includes semantics which is everything that the speakers in a certain community can think about and every way they do things. In other words, every community with different culture has a different language. Although language and culture are not inseparable basically, it is easy to understand language has a specific culture's method of expressing ideas. Verbal language which can also be via signs and symbols or via hand...

Who Moved My Cheese Reaction Paper

...Who moved my cheese? “Who Moved my Cheese?” Written by Dr. Spencer Johnson, in the story, there lived four little characters that ran through a maze looking for cheese. Two were mice named Sniff and Scurry and the other two were little men known as Hem and Haw. When the two mice found out that Cheese Station C had ran out of cheese, they quickly ran through the maze in search of another cheese, while the two little men react differently. They stayed there and waited for the cheese to come back. In this story, we can see how people react differently on a particular situation. Same in an organization, at first people will be very diligent to do their jobs. Like at the beginning of the story the four characters were eager to find a place full of cheese. But once they got used to the same routine day after day, there will come a time that some people will get lazy like the two little men: Hem and Haw. They tend to be a little bit late day after another because they thought the cheese will always be there. However, one day they came to the room finding no more cheese at all. Sniff and Scurry, knew about it because day after day they notice that the supply of cheese decreases, so they hurriedly went to the maze to find new cheese. While Hem and Haw were still hoping they would find a new cheese on the same room. Some are like Sniff and Scurry, who works very hard and can easily adapt to changes. On the other hand, some are like Hem and Haw who seem to can’t get over things that...

How Concentration Affects Rate of Reaction

...Title: A study into how concentration affects rate of reaction Aim: We want to find out how concentration affects rate of reaction Hypothesis: We predict that the reaction will happen faster if we have a higher concentration Equipment: timer, conical flask, measuring cylinder, chemicals Method: 1. Gather all the apparatus required for the experiment 2. Next using a weight balance measure out 8g of sodium thiosulfate which we added to the 200cm3 of water , which we mixed until all the crystals were dissolved 3. Once this is done then you pour out 50c3,40cm3,30cm3,20cm3,10cm3 of the solution into five same conical flasks ,once this is done you then add water to the other conical flask in 50cm,make sure you label the flasks so that you know which one has so much concentration . 4. After this is done you must now take a beaker and add 35cm3 of concentration hydrochloric acid to 65cm3 of water to make a diluted solution 5. Now then take a piece of paper and draw a black cross on the paper , and the place one of the flasks on top of the paper , you must do one flask at a time using a measuring cylinder measure out 10cm3 of hydrochloric solution , and add this to the flask ,immediately stir the flask and start the stop watch. 6. Finally as soon as you can not see the cross anymore stop the stop watch and record the results in a table , repeat this with all the flasks The reaction Sodium + hydrochloric acid sulphur dioxide and sodium chloride Thiosulfate...

The formula for the reaction is: HCl(aq) + Na2S2O3(aq) NaCl(aq) + SO2(g) + S(s) + H2O(l). The formula shows us that the sulphur precipitate is formed along with water, sodium chloride and sulphur dioxide. Sulphur dioxide is a poisonous gas and so extra care will be taken not to inhale any. Figure 1 [18] Variables The Variables that affect the reaction rate of sodium thiosulfate...

Equilibriunm

...A grade GCSE chemistry coursework - Rates of Reaction Decomposition of Sodium Thiosulphate This is an investigation about the decomposition of sodium thiosulphate. There are many factors (variables) which determine how fast or slow the reaction can take place (rate of reaction). These are: * Initial volume of sodium thiosulphate. * The initial volume of hydrochloric acid. * The initial volume of water. * The temperature of the reaction mixture. * The concentration of the sodium thiosulphate. * The concentration of hydrochloric acid. * Changing the pressure In this particular investigation I am going to find out how heat affects the rate of reaction in the reaction of sodium thiosulphate with hydrochloric acid. Sulphur forms a colloidal precipitate which gives the solution a cloudy yellow appearance. The rate of reaction can be found by measuring the time for the solution to become cloudy. I will measure the amount of time for the solution to become completely cloudy by drawing a cross on a piece of paper and place it under the beaker. As the reaction takes place, the solution becomes cloudy and the cross gradually disappears. The equation for this reaction is: Sodium Thiosulphate + hydrochloric acid → sodium chloride + water + sulphur dioxide + sulphur Na2S2O3(aq) + 2NaCl(aq) 2NaCl(aq) + H2O(l) + S(s) + SO2(g) Preliminary work I have done preliminary work to work out the right amounts/concentrations etc to use and also to decide the best range...

Goalkeeper

...a chemical reaction | Name: Ryan Bradley | Class: 12A1 | What is the aim of this experiment? To investigate how concentration hydrochloric acid affects the rate of reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid and water. P.6a: List all the factors that could have an effect on the results in this investigation? * Concentration * Temperature * Surface area * Catalyst * Colour of the X * Stirring the mixture * Water in the beaker from washing out beaker P.6a: P.8a: Explain in detail how each of the factors you named could affect the investigation? Surface Area: This would affect my investigation because if there was a bigger surface area this means the particles have more room to collide as they are more exposed to head on collisions Concentration: If I was to increase the concentrations of the hydrochloric acid by too much/ little this will make my results unreliable because the more hydrochloric acid the more successful collisions and this would increase the rate of reaction. Stirring the mixture: This would affect my investigation because if I was to stir the mixture it would speed up the reaction time as you are creating more collisions meaning the ‘x’ will disappear quicker. Temperature: If I was to increase the temperature this would affect my investigation because it would mean the particles would gain more energy and this would mean they would collide with a greater force and this would make the rate of reaction faster which...

F.A.T City Paper

...Jacob Pope F.A.T City Reaction Paper While watching the F.A.T City video, I must first say that it was an amazing video and that Richard Lavoie should win an award, if he hasn’t already. In this reaction paper, I’ll review some of the same difficulties that I went through as a younger student. I will also describe how this video has impacted me and what I will take away from this video. Also, what will be discussed are three accommodations that I saw in the video. Lastly what will be discussed is my definition of fairness as taken from the video, along with an event in my educational history where I’ve appreciated an accommodation. This is what my reaction paper will consist of. In my first paragraph, I will discuss some of the same difficulties that I went through that Mr. Lavoie described in the video. The first one that really grabbed my attention is when he was asking the questions about the various movies in which involve a pig. Once he asked this question, and he got his first “I don’t know” answer, he accepted it. Since he accepted this answer from one student, the next three students thought that it was acceptable to respond with the same answer. I too have went through this as a student. Once I found out that the teacher would accept my “I don’t know” as an answer, the more I’d respond in this manner. I did this for as long as I can remember unless I was 100% sure that my answer was correct. Nothing was done on the part of the instructor...

Classical Conditioning

...Classical Conditioning Paper Accidently founded by Ivan Pavlov, classical conditioning is basically learning by association behavior. A better definition would be “A process of behavior modification by which a subject comes to respond in a desired manner to a previously neutral stimulus that has been repeatedly presented along with an unconditioned stimulus that elicits the desired response” (Farlex, 2011). This paper will describe the theory of classical conditioning and demonstrate how one would apply the classical conditioning in everyday life. Theory of Classical Conditioning Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist, was performing research on the digestive system of a dog by using the data from the dog’s salivation when in the middle of these tests he by accident noticed that certain behaviors can be conditioned (Alloy, Riskind, & Manos, 2005). First, one must understand that behaviorism in psychology is based on the belief that learning happens through relations with the environment (Cherry, 2011). Pavlov found that several of the reactions were occurring due to prior learning. He obtained this important information by noting that the dogs would salivate even before they were offered the meat. Pavlov concluded that the dogs were conditioned and learned from the entrance of the lab assistant, who was generally the person who brought in the meat. He expanded his experiment further by introducing a bright light or a loud sound to see if the dogs would salivate when seeing them...

Egt1 Task 2

...Elasticity of demand refers to the level of reaction that consumers will have to a change in price of a product. Elasticity of demand has 3 categories or results from the equation. The equation used to determine elasticity of demand is the percentage of change in quantity of demand divided by the percentage of change in price. After this equation is calculated you will need to compare the answer or coeeficient with the critical threshold. For elasticty of demand the critical threshold is 1. If the result is a number higher than the number one than the product will be said to be elastic. If the product is determined to be elastic than it is sensitive to price and consumers will react more by buying less of the product. Elastic products have a rate of more than one. If the result of the equation is lower than the number one than the product is said to be Inelastic. These products are considered less price sensitive than those that are elastic meaning that the reaction of less sales from consumers will be smaller than in a situation where a product is elastic. Finally, if the result of the equation is equal to the number one then the product is considered unit elastic. This occurs when any percentage change in price results in the exact same change in quantity demand. This is very rare and does not occur often. B. Another type of elasticity to measure is cross price elasticity. Cross price elasticity measures the consumer reaction or demand in purchasing on one product when...

...Based on my observation, marijuana leaves exhibits a warty appearance due to the presence of non glandular hairs which at their base contains a spheriodal cystollith of calcium carbonate while on the other sample of marijuana seeds I observed the lacy and hair like. During the Chemical Test of the Fast Blue Salt or FBS Test on the Marijuana seeds, hashish cake and hashish candy I observed that there was a reaction on the test conducted due to the appearance of purple color or violet. On the Marquis test conducted for Morphine, Shabu and Ephedrine there were reaction with the two sample wherein the morphine turned to purple, shabu became orange and lately turned to red dark brown in color while the Ephedrine had no reaction at all. On the Simmon’s test, the color of shabu became blue in color. On the other test in Chen Kao 123, the Ephedrine has a reaction and the color of the sample became purple. The last examination conducted was the Benzidine test- to test whether the stain is blood or not. A stain sample rub with a filter paper and added with 1-2 drops of Benzidine Reagent and 1-2 drops of hydrogen peroxide on the filter paper, instant blue color indicates the presence of blood. CONCLUSION: Based on my observation of the chemical examination or test of prohibited drugs, therefore I conclude that the Marijuana leaves and marijuana seeds are not the same in characteristics. In the chemical test conducted, all the samples reacted...

Photosynthesis

...Practical 2: Photosynthesis Introduction: Photosynthesis is a vital process in plants as carbon dioxide is used to form sugars and other complex compounds for growth. There are two basic processes in photosynthesis: light-dependent and light-independent. Light-dependent process, a temperature-independent reaction where light energy is absorbed by the photosynthetic pigments and transformed into chemical energy which is used for water, splitting into oxygen molecule, proton (H+) for driving ATP during phosphorylation, and electron (e-) which is being passed down the electron transport chain to yield NADPH. Light–independent, temperature-dependent reaction occurs to form carbohydrate and water molecule by the assimilation of carbon dioxide, driven by NADPH and ATP from light-dependent reaction. In this practical, DCPIP, a blue dye is used. DCPIP turns into colourless as it is reduced by accepting electrons. The rate of DCPIP turns into colourless indirectly gives an estimation on the rate of electron transport, as well as the rate of photosynthesis. Aim: To determine the rate of DCPIP turns into colourless/photosynthetic electron transport in isolated chloroplasts from silverbeet leaves under different type of treatments. The rate of DCPIP turns into colourless is indicated by measuring the absorbance using a spectrophotometer. Hypothesis: The faster the DCPIP turns into colourless, the more rapid is the decrease in absorbance over time, the faster...
