...the Mayans said the world was going to end, and I wasn't even going to have been out of eighth grade. Little did I know that my world would not burn in some natural disaster engulfing all of humanity, but instead it would come crashing down in a young love that has forever changed me. I had always thought Logan was pretty; everyone did, but we never had classes together. My AIG teacher had been trying to get me into the “gifted” classes for years, she told me my exam grades were proof of my “gift”, but that my day to day grades did not reflect my intelligence; finally Mrs. Carraway was able to have me take a COGAT test, which placed me among those who shared my “intelligence”. More importantly to my thirteen year old brain,...

...Construct and Support an Argument My decision to continue my education and pursue an MBA is to gain the required skills needed to start a new career in my near future. Pursuing an MBA will make it possible to live a better economic life and to have a good job with security and top pay. I have chosen this route even with the current economic situation, knowing that new jobs may not be available by the time I finish with my MBA. An MBA would benefit me greatly in a variety of ways. Pursuing an MBA will aid in the development of the skills I need in the finance and accounting areas. Of course the increase in pay from possessing an MBA does not hurt either. When researching jobs online I am finding that by having a master’s degree, the pay is substantially higher than those with a bachelor’s degree. Other than career and financial reasons, I do have a personal goal to achieve more than my siblings. Out of four sisters only two of us have a bachelor’s degree. I would love nothing more than to become the other sibling to obtain a masters degree. Plain and simple, I want to do better than all of my sisters. In this economy, having a good paying job with security is vital. “In nearly every sector of the globe, the prospect of making more money and living a better economic life draws thousands of students to MBA programs” (Euders.com, 2009). I plan hopefully to open my own business someday in the very near future. With running my own business the part of running a business...

...personality of a person is the sum of a person’s physical, emotional, mental as well as their social characteristics. What makes people different? Why are some people more likable or more likely to be socially accepted by others? Why are people judged by the way that they act or appear to be rather than by what they have to offer? These are just a few questions that came to my mind when I overheard a group of teenagers talking about this kid that attempted suicide because he felt as if he was an outcast to his peers. This story made me realize that the personality of an individual can determine whether or not a person is capable of overcoming some of the cruel and insensitive barriers that are placed in his or her pathway by the people that he or she has to deal with on a day to day basis. There are many traits that I have adopted throughout my life which defines my personality. I can really appreciate my family for grooming me into the man that I am today. I am not saying that every day was superb, but I have to appreciate the good and the not-so-good days that I personally experienced. I would consider my personality to be like one of a debating perfectionist. Anything that I do, I give it one hundred percent of me. I will not settle for anything less than what I...

...seemed as if we had waited for hours. On Tuesday, May 3rd, my classmates and I sat to take the AP Physics 1 exam. On this dreadful day, we were ushered into the testing room promptly at 12:00 p.m. and were told to put away the study materials we were all cramming with in the hall. We thought the test would begin shortly, but –much to our dismay– it did not. One of the A.M. tests of the day, AP Spanish, had technical difficulties and had not yet let out. We were forced to wait in this bleak room until the other test let out. Unable to even glance at our notes, the confidence we were filled with upon entering the room chipped away with each minute. When the final student arrived...

...Compare your experience in taking the pre and post-test assessment. For this post exam, I experienced more anxiety than with the previous assessment test. I reviewed APEA material for most of the week, so I felt better prepared in some areas. However, with this exam falling on a holiday week, it was difficult to maintain consistent review times. Physically, I felt like I was sitting for the actual exam, therefore, my stomach was unsettled. However, I was more focused on taking my time reading the questions instead of rushing through the exam. Compare the scores you received pre and post-test, and the areas of lowest and highest scores. How did you do? The results of the pre-test reveal the lowest scores in Diagnosis and the post-test evaluation indicate that this is an area in which I need to improve in. My scores were consistently high for Assessment, however, they dropped in Planning and Intervention. I believe the challenge is deciding the most appropriate intervention. The areas of Evaluation and Pharmocotherapeutics were improved....

...on “Physical and Chemical Digestion in human” which ideally should have been done in at least three lessons (3 x 60 minutes) but I’ve compressed it into two lessons (2 x 50 minutes). This was a request by my mentor explaining that I should cover as much as I possibly can for the exam. Thus, I am thinking that how could I teach this huge and important topic in the time frame given while not sacrificing student’s learning experience. A very difficult task but I’m willing to take the challenge. Most of my classes are weak classes. During my observation class with my mentor, she was doing correction on the test the students had. Only for class 9A, she explained to the students on why the answers were wrong and a short discussion before giving them the correct answer. However, for other classes she just wrote down the answer on the board and let them copy without any explanation or discussion. When I raised the issue, my mentor pointed out that weak students tend to forget what they have learnt in the class, so there is no point to even discuss their mistakes in test and assignments. I was also showed the test score of the weak students and found out that a lot of them failed biology. So, I decided to find out possible reason why the students failed this subject and request my mentor to allow me to mark their assignments. The assignments consist of structured questions. From the students’ answer, I could see that language is one of the problem. For some questions, students copied...

...Assessment Analysis Paper Gentina Thompson NUR440: Health Assessment and Promotion for Vulnerable Population September 22, 2014 Assessment tools are a necessary part of everyday nursing care. They provide the nurse with measurable means of keeping inventory of a patient’s physical progression from shift to shift. Assessment tools like the Braden scale which assess the patient’s skin quality; along with the falls risk scale that assess how high the patient’s chances are for falling; are two common assessment tools used worldwide. Along with these physical assessment tools are an array of non-physical assessment tools used to evaluate anything from the patient’s coping skills to evaluating their stress level. Three popular ones are the daily hassle scale, Beck depression inventory, and the perceived stress scale. All three of these scales are imperative in finding out what kind of state the patient is in cognitively. Daily hassles are defined as “irritating, frustrating demands that occur during everyday interactions with the environment (Wright et al., 2010). Daily hassles are normally those daily interactions with family or friends that have regular occurrences; however are more difficult when trying to determine a beginning and an end. The Kanner Hassel scale is the most commonly used it generates eight scores on eight dimensions of time, pressure, work, financial responsibilities, health, neighborhood/environment, inner concerns, household responsibilities, and future security...

...Chapter I THERE IS ONE mirror in my house. It is behind a sliding panel in the hallway upstairs. Our faction allows me to stand in front of it on the second day of every third month, the day my mother cuts my hair. I sit on the stool and my mother stands behind m e with the scissors, trimming. The strands fall on the floor in a dull, blond ring. When she finishes, she pulls my hair away from my face and twists it into a knot. I note how calm she looks and how focused she is. She is well-practiced in the art of losing herself. I can’t say the same of myself. I sneak a look at my reflection when she isn’t paying attention—not for the sake of vanity, but out of curiosity. A lot can happen to a person’s appearance in three months. In my reflection, I see a narrow face, wide, round eyes, and a long, thin nose—I still look like a little girl, though sometime in the last few months I turned sixteen. The other factions celebrate birthdays, but we don’t. It would be self-indulgent. “There,” she says when she pins the knot in place. Her eyes catch mine in the mirror. It is too late to look away, but instead of scolding me, she smiles at our reflection. I frown a little. Why doesn’t she reprimand me for staring at myself? “So today is the day,” she says. “Yes,” I reply. “Are you nervous?” I stare into my own eyes for a moment. Today is the day of the aptitude test that will show me which of the five factions I belong in. And tomorrow, at the Choosing Ceremony, I will decide on a f action;...

...you feel about tests in general? I don’t like taking test because I always get of feeling of nervousness. My stomach gets all tied up in knots. The problem with taking test is a feeling of not remembering. It gets uncomfortable every time I have to take a test whether I study or not. 2. What are your first memories of being in a testing situation? What were your feeling, and why? My first memory of being in a testing situation is in high school. It was finals and I needed to pass this one course to graduate. It was a course that I detested, and I was horrible at it. This course was Trigonometry. I am not good in math period, but this course was a requirement. I felt that I was going to fail the course, and it was going to be a setback. It was a depressing feeling. 3. What make a test “good” and “bad” from your perspective? What make a test good is knowing what kind of test it, what is covered and how much a percentage is geared toward that test. How do I know that the test is good is when the instructor lets you know what is going to be on the test. A test is good when much preparation and work goes into it. The format or the structure of the test also make it good. When I think of a bad test, it mean no preparation, no work or study when into taking the test. A bad test is a test that is not put together well. The organization is not good and the test is very confusing. It can be a bad test when the person taking the test is ill-prepared...

...Catherine Garcia July 21, 2013 The Aptitude Test is a good tool to help a person determine strengths and weaknesses. They are very useful for individuals considering joining the military or agencies trying to match candidates in the civilian workforce. Aptitude Tests are classified as speed test and determine how many questions that a person can answer correctly in an allotted time. Speed test are normally used for clerical and administrative jobs. Professional and managerial type jobs use the power test. The Aptitude Test confirmed that I work well in careers where success comes from applying practical skills and where thinking is used mostly to solve practical problems. That was a very good assessment. I really enjoy jobs that allow me to think and use my natural skills and leadership ability. It also showed that I place values high on my priority list. I believe that having good values is the key to success. Having good values and ethics in the workplace, helps the organization keep order and allows the company to function smoothly and remains profitable. Individual values should align with company values in the workplace. Integrity is the value that I think is most important in the workplace. It is important to display honesty in the workplace at all time. Employers want to know that they can trust you and that you are going to do the right thing at all times. The tests also assess my individual thinking style. This part was good learning experience...
