In this article, entitled “The Pay Gap”, the authors, Natalie Kitroeff and Jonathan Rodkin, sate, “Women with MBAs earn lower salaries, manage fewer people, and are less pleased with their progress than men with the same degree.” Authors Kitroeff and Rodkin presented the results of a survey released by the Bloomberg Businessweek magazine as part of its annual ranking business schools. According to the report, business schools are unbeatable return for young specialists, and MBAs graduate reported steadily high level of job satisfaction. The last survey was based on 12,773 respondents who graduate six to eight years ago. Statistics show that women and men started their MBAs career earning almost the same money with a little difference that consisted $7000. However, in 2014 the difference of earning between men and women increased considerably: $175000 for men versus $140000 for women. One of the explanations can be that women hold less managerial positions. Another explanation can be that women select less financially recompensing fields. The results showed that 43 percent of men work in the most profitable industries, and only 32 percent of women work in the same industries. Ferris Morrison, a spokeswoman for Bank of America, said that men and women start at the same compensation for their entry-level positions, and over different factors such as job performance and career options their compensation increases. Also, women are more expected to take time off to take care of children. As a result, when they come back, they receive less pay than their colleagues.
