Scenario Two

A1. Positive Social Interaction My particular approach to classroom management is to keep things in order and to provide a safe, comfortable classroom environment for my students. All students will be treated equally. I believe the homework policy in scenario two would encourage a better effort for social interaction between the students and Mr. Collet. As discussed in Mr. Collet's policy, if a student is turning in homework late, they must first discuss it with the teacher. This is a great way of showing a resolve with a problem because it gives the students a chance to discuss why it is turned in late or not at all. That way as team, they can try to …show more content…
When we think positively, we help ourselves create a strong sense of accountability for our behaviors and actions. The students in scenario two from Mr. Collet’s classroom learn to become social learners. This in turn brings out positive social interactions between the student and teacher by showing the student that their learning experience will be collaboration between peers and their teacher. In a 4th grade classroom, the positive social interactions from scenario two as stated above could be integrated into a fourth graders daily routine. Which students need in order to feel safe and secure in their learning environment. It also leverages their social interactions because it gives the students encouragement knowing that as their teacher, you believe in them and value their options and thoughts. By creating an atmosphere where the students not only feel safe and secure Mr. Collet’s way of managing his classroom would definitely work in a Fourth grade classroom …show more content…
(Meyers & Jones, 1993, p. 6) In Mr. Collet’s class his students are constantly learning and practicing how to take in information and skills and use them meaningfully. Examples I see in Mr. Collet’s class is the opportunity that he offers his students. If students believe a mistake has been made in the grading of any assignment or exam, they may make a formal appeal. They have two class sessions after they get their work back to submit an appeal. The appeal should consist of a sentence or two explaining why they believe their answer is correct, and they must support this with the textbook, notes, or other reasoning. The original answer must be stapled to the back of the grade appeal. This allows his students to learn not only information about the subject but also how to think about the subject; they also reason in their writing as they clarify the material for themselves and see what they understand and what they need help in making sense of it. With his homework policy for appeals Mr. Collet’s approach will be allowing and pushing the students to develop his or her critical thinking skilling as well as practicing the letters as
