...I am a proud, hopeful Montegut Middle School eighth grader, nominated for student of the year; an honor for which I am truly grateful. I would absolutely love to be given the chance to represent our school, and possibly parish and state. To know my school and its staff have faith in me, has increased my strong determination. I come from a diverse family background. I’m lucky in the sense that I have two families; though different and don’t always agree, they come together to form one big family. There are few things I hold in higher regard than my family. Without their support, I think it’s safe to say that I’d be lost. I’m the second oldest of seven siblings. I take great pride in being a role model for my sisters and brothers. I would say I’m a prime example of a hands-on big sibling. I hope and pray that every kid that every kid has awesome family support like me. One of my biggest passions is dance. I’m currently a member of our member of our LMMS Golden Blues Dance Team, on which I’ve served two years. Furthermore, I have the great honor of serving as co-caption! I’ve learned what it really means to lead. I’ve always found myself to be a natural born leader; however, once given this role, I was truly able to show my skills. I’ve learned to respect everyone’s individuality, take time to listen, and maintain a positive attitude. I love dance so much that I also take classes outside of school. It’s my most sacred form of self-expression. Everyone needs a way to express themselves...

...Being accepted into one of Penn State’s Accelerated programs is an incredible merit. Only the finest students are chosen, who may demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These traits are highly beneficial to gain, especially when seeking a job, and doing well in your job. Owning these traits, would also help one be a superior dentist. In my 17 years, I believe I have actively demonstrated these characteristics. One of the most beneficial attributes as a high school student is scholarship. I currently have a 97 career GPA, as well, I am taking 2 AP classes and have taken 2 AP courses in my junior year. Each year since 8th grade, I've also enrolled in 2 sciences classes. I take honors classes if the option is available. On top of keeping my grades up in high school, I also take online college classes through Clarion University. I've taken College Writing and U.S. History, receiving an A in both classes. The leadership trait in me shines when I am on a softball field. I am a captain on 3 teams: A-C Valley softball team, A-C Valley cross country team and ROC Elite traveling softball team. Being a leader on two teams, it is critical that I always be the best I can. When I'm down, so is my team, which is why it is important for me to be positive and inspire my teammates to be positive too. To the younger players, I must lead by example. I strive to help, encourage, and demonstrate confidence to my fellow teammates. Daily, I aim to give a helping hand where is needed...

...in a structural way with the functionalities provided by National Health Service (NHS) since the year 1948. There has been an access point of free access and being highlighted in a positive manner, clinical ideas and formulations have emerged as a greater tendency of force. There have been multiple changes implied and influences to the NHS structure over the course of time (Beresford, 2013). Since the 1970s however, the policy has been strictly related with the management of ever increasing requirement of resources and how to take into consideration multiple distinctions in population demands, availability of services and their qualitative comprehension across the region (Beresford, 2013). An array amount of measurements have been implied to target the distinctions including, in the most recent times, an enhanced implication of mechanisms that are market induced. Staffing requirements in the NHS have always considered it difficult to carry out a prediction and the accounts of professional staffing mechanisms have always signified between a surplus and shortage. Such alterations have occurred in a substantial manner against a background of rising expenses, along with NHS providing a spending amount of national income share in a doubled manner since 1948 (Beresford, 2013). The conventional focus of mental health services and associations have been evident enough since the clarifications of NHS was provided, stepping away from broader institutions to community based services....

...NHS Internet Services Research: An Annotated Bibliography First technology solutions: Satellite Internet Business Internet: Select Plans. (n.d.). Retrieved November 24, 2014, from http://business.hughesnet.com/bi/resources/business-internet-gen4 The HughesNet website explains the viability of satellite internet service for businesses. The information provided demonstrates how the HughesNet Gen4 service can provide high speed internet access for multiple remote branch offices. HughesNet demonstrates how it compares favorably to other services such as cable or DSL (digital subscriber line) internet. Satellite Internet has the ability to synchronously transmit and receive data from a small client satellite dish on Earth and communicate with an orbiting satellite above Earth's equator. The orbiting satellite transmits and receives its information to a ground server on Earth called the Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC is connected to the Internet or private network. All communication made from a satellite dish connection to the Internet must flow through the ground server. HughesNet satellite service has the flexible capabilities of reaching every office in the NHS network as well as any new locations that NHS may add as they expand their operations. Satellite service provides speeds of up to 15 Mbps, which exceeds the necessary speed required to transfer large 100MB files between each NHS office and their partner in New York City. HughesNet Gen4 service can...

They also evaluate the effectiveness of treatments. Their work is extremely important for many hospital departments and the functions they carry out are wide ranging. For example, they may work on medical conditions, such as cancer, diabetes, AIDS, malaria, food poisoning or anaemia, or carry out tests for emergency blood transfusions or to see if someone has had a heart attack. Biomedical scientists can work in three areas: infection sciences; blood sciences; and cellular sciences. Infection sciences include: •medical microbiology - identification of micro-organisms causing disease and their antibiotic treatment; •virology - identification of viruses, associated diseases and monitoring the effectiveness of vaccines. Blood sciences include: •clinical chemistry - analysis of body fluids and toxicology studies; •transfusion science - determination of donor/recipient blood compatibility, ensuring blood banks are sufficient; •haematology - form...

...satisfaction, increases communication across the interdisciplinary team, enables nurses to provide their patients with high-quality care and decreases health care cost. The purpose of this paper is to describe why readmissions from nursing homes (NHs) is a nurse practice problem, nurse practice changes to reduce hospitalizations in NHs, evidence found in the nursing literature that supports the change in nursing practice and how to evaluate the change in practice after implementation of interventions. The Problem Residents in NHs continue to experience potentially avoidable 30-day readmissions to hospitals. Rahman, Foster, Grabowski, Zinn, & Mor (2013) define 30-day readmissions as when the resident is readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of being discharged from the hospital to NHs and avoidable readmissions as conditions that can be managed safely and efficiently in NHs instead of the resident being transferred to the hospital (p. 1901) There are more than 1.6 million Americans living in NHs in the United States and 23.5% of these Americans experience readmission to the hospital within 30 days of discharges and cost more than $17.4 billion per year in unnecessary health care cost (Ouslander & Berenson, 2011, p. 1165). The residents that are at an increased risk of readmission to hospitals from NHs have a diagnosis of congestive heart failure (CHF), pneumonia, myocardial infarction (MI), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or total hip and knee replacements (Kripalani...

...University of Glasgow, Glasgow G122 8QQ, Scotland s.hussain@nesc.gla.ac.uk Abstract — The service-oriented computing paradigm and its application to support e-Infrastructures offers, at least in principle, the opportunity to realise platforms for multi- and inter-disciplinary research. Augmenting the service-oriented model for e-Research are mechanisms for services to be coupled and enacted in a coordinated manner through workflow environments. Typically workflows capture a research process that can be shared and repeated by others. However, existing models of workflow definition and enactment assume that services are directly available and can be accessed and invoked by arbitrary users or enactment engines. In more security-oriented domains, such assumptions rarely hold true. Rather in many domains, service providers demand to be autonomous and define and enforce their own service / resource access control using locally defined policy enforcement points (PEP) and policy decision points (PDP) which allow access and usage of resources to be strictly monitored and enforced. In this paper, we outline how it is possible to support security-oriented workflow definition and enactment through chaining of PDPs to support “workfloworiented” access control. To demonstrate this, we focus on a case study taken from the Economic and Social Science Research Council (ESRC) funded Data Management through e-Social Science (DAMES – www.dames.org.uk) project in the area of depression, self-harm...

A limited number of public sector organisations have implemented it. This paper describes a case study of CSA implementation in a Scottish Housing Association. The case study details the decision processes that led to the choice of CSA as a favoured audit technique, and the development of CSA skills within the organisation. This paper examines the broader benefits of a CSA approach, in terms of performance management and employee empowerment. This paper also uses a cost benefit analysis to examine the efficacy of CSA for small organisations. In addition to providing a summary of the exercise itself, I would also hope to explore the relationship between the clinical audit process and the wider framework for quality improvement in healthcare. The development of regulation and clinical governance systems in the United Kingdom will also be addressed as will the administration of medication as a significant element of nursing practice. Where necessary, use will be made of academic, research and other evidence based material to underscore or augment specific issues or indeed illustrate examples of good clinical practice. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for conduct, performance and ethics (NMC, 2004) have been diligently applied in the construction of this assignment. Pseudonyms will therefore be used to ensure staff and patient confidentiality, whilst other identifying information will be completely anonymised. ...P2 Considerably public health has developed over many years and changes occurred over time reflecting concerns on the health of the nation during each period. This changes have produced the public health system that is in place till this present time. The early reformers of social and economic conditions played a huge impact in balancing the health status of the nation in a way that, every individual will benefit from it. Health professionals increase their medical knowledge greatly relative to how diseases where spread and also various progress where made in helping to decrease the incidence of the contagious disease which killed several people. As part of P1 assignment I discussed the key aspects of the public health strategies in the UK. Several changes which took place within the Public Health System are as a result of awareness promotions and awareness which is highlighted in general by individuals and groups across the nation. The government take into considerations the health needs of the people and acts on the findings demonstrated through national statistics. The government act on these findings by passing laws that are considered to power the overall health and well-being of the nation. In the 19th century, scientist discovered that microorganisms are responsible for the killer diseases like cholera and tuberculosis, and the public health was officially lunched in an effort to provide clean water supplies and waste disposal systems. Poor law system (1834) which...

...The two management models that will be critically evaluated on their usefulness to managers in the service sector are the Just In Time (JIT) and the Lean manufacturing models. Both of these manufacturing models have been used for decades in the manufacturing sector since they have been invented in the 1960s. Currently in the global economy most manufacturing is happening in both South and East Asia, while most of the services for the global economy are happening in the Western Europe and North America (Wild, 2002). There are several factors why it is like this in the world company. For manufacturing industry there are manufacturing models that are being used and for the services there are services models that are being used. The basic concept in manufacturing sector to improve the efficiency of the production is by increasing the production output or decreasing the workforce required (Drury, 2008). Whereas the basic concept in the service sector to improve the efficiency of the services is by adding a new worker that improves the value of the service of the company. That is why when new workers want the join any company they may have to do an interview for that company and explain why the company should chose that worker than any of the others and prove he can improve the company’s service. The JIT manufacturing model has been used a lot in manufacturing and has given Japan manufacturing massive success over the last few decades especially for Toyota (Drury, 2008). The JIT...
