Abstract
For this purpose was to show one motivation method Nike uses in the commercial ad and one they didn’t use which could have emphasize how relevant each method are to their brand I getting the message across. Also we will see the comparison between Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy being depicted by a young boy dreams transitioning into a reality at every stages of his life. In the end the real pro golfers will compete against each other leaving a lasting impression with a story about being motivated by people.

Usually if a child should watch something on the TV it would be cartoon or an animated film but not for this one child who sat one day watching golf with his father and suddenly got inspired by Tiger Woods. He got up immediately and grabbed his green little golf club and began to swing like a Tiger on the TV. In this commercial Rory Mcllroy is being depicted by the child at young age growing up loving golf and dream one day he will be as successful a pro golfer. The purpose of this was to promote the brand Nike by comparing the two players side by side and showing how Rory started out small practicing his swings day and night rain or no sunshine until he becomes just as good as Mr. Woods. Being coached by his family and friends with a tiger woods wallpaper in his bedroom, he put a piece of paper next to showing his daily improvements. Here we can see the child using the washer for the hole and going from playing in the washroom to the back yard then transitioning to a small tournament. Also another comparison between the two was their passion for golf began at an early age, and both men were coached by their father every step of the way. The motivation being targeted here is extrinsic that refers to behavior that is driven by external rewards such as money, fame, grades, and praise which arises from outside the individual, as opposed to intrinsic motivation, which originates from inside of the individual. But unfortunately, one motivation this ad didn’t use was intrinsic motivation which would be perfect at the end showing the kid (Rory) felt happy inside to be competing with Woods. To show comparison in this ad using the two motivation would be more inspiring to get people to see what their brand really meant in the lives of the players and people who wear it instead of just using extrinsic alone. All in all this commercial done an excellent job showing the payoff of hard work, dedication and motivation can get us to live our dreams from starting out as small boy watching his favorite sports on TV who began chasing it day and night. Whether he was at the bar or in the backyard, the kid never stops until one day he finally gets to play side by side with his biggest motivation Tiger Woods. Lastly, this ad does show relevance towards the theory of extrinsic motivation.
