Personal development:
• Before coming to university, I struggled to get the grades I needed to be accepted. But I worked hard and managed to scrape the three Cs I needed. Troubles in sixth form lead to me having very little faith in coming to university, however I was very happily surprised when my acceptance email came through.
• Before University, I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and for a while since then I have struggled to accept this fact. So, when I came to university I was nervous that people might treat me differently because of this.
• Because of this, welcome week was nerve-racking to begin with but by the end of the week I felt more comfortable in my new environment, I had also learnt that my course …show more content…
I am happy with all the grades I have received this year however, I feel as though I could have done better on some of them if I had managed my time better.
• Out of the 8 assignments we had this year, I got a range of grades from a C- to an A-. This I am proud of as I struggled to get to university, therefore getting these grades felt quite rewarding.
• I have enjoyed all of the modules this year and have learnt a range of theories such as attachment theories from Bowlby and Ainsworth to the growth stages of children in 1011 and all about how this effects the way early years practitioners work to help children with their development.
• For example, I specifically enjoy how the EYFS’ way to achieve effective learning is based off of the way children use relationships as a secure base to learning (Bowlby) and the environmental factors need to be right for the best learning.
• I have used this to create my own ethos for how I believe early years children should be able to play and learn. Such as I believe the best enabling environment for children to learn in is the outdoors where they can gain physical experience to enforce what they have been …show more content…
Professional Development:
• The development of my professional self mainly happened while on placement but also during the year. Eunice told us in a lecture that to be able to improve your professional self you have to know your full self beforehand. I did this by completing a Johari window reflection of myself. This shows each area of you so that you know what parts of your life are acceptable to talk about in practice and what is not and also what people think of you as a person so that you can improve people’s view of you if needed.
• The four areas are filled out by either yourself or the blind area is filled out by other people. I got someone I know who would be brutally honest about me to fill out this. I believe this to be the most important area in the Johari window as it is the part of me that people in practice will think and I want this to be the best I can be perceived as. However, reading what has been said I think this portrays me as a very approachable, trusting and friendly
