...KCA JOURNAL OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT: VOL. 2, ISSUE 1 (2009). STRATEGIC POSITIONING FOR SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: AN ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING APPROACH John I. Njuguna1 Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Juja, Kenya Abstract Organizational learning is increasingly being considered as one of the fundamental sources of competitive advantage within the context of strategic management. However, most literature has not clearly linked organizational learning with sustainable competitive advantage. This paper, therefore, explores and discusses the role of organizational learning in helping business firms to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Specifically, it deals with how organizational learning process can be used to develop knowledge resources and capabilities that lead to sustainable competitive advantage. The main method used is analysis and integration of theories to develop a conceptual model. This paper proposes that, through organizational learning a firm can develop hard to imitate knowledge resources and capabilities (human capital as well as organizational capital) that create value which in turn lead to superior performance. INTRODUCTION In the 21 century business landscape, firms must compete in a complex and challenging context that is being transformed by many factors from globalization, frequent and uncertain changes to the growing use of information technologies (DeNisi, Hitt and Jackson, 2003). Therefore, achieving a competitive...

...APOLOGETICS APPLICATION PAPER: Examining the Atheist Belief and Defending the Christian Faith Rhonda Rigsby APOL 500 7/7/13 Target Audience The selected target audience for this paper is atheists. Atheists are defined as “a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of God or gods”, according to the Random House College dictionary. The first order of business within the atheist argument is that atheism is not a belief at all. Many Christians cringe when they hear the word atheism or that someone is an atheist, while some become angry, others consider it an opportunity to convert a lost soul. Statistics have shown an increase in atheism, which was predicted in the bible, and many tend to think that atheists all come from a scientific background and that as many as ninety-five percent of scientists are atheists. A study by Curry concludes differently reporting that seven percent of scientists are Christians and twenty-one percent are agnostic, while seventy-two percent report they do not believe they have a personal god. However, during this study it appears some skewness existed in the sense people were asked if they believed that God was affective and communicates with mankind. With this a part of the equation, most based their response on the fact they did not think God, if they believe He does exist, actually tried to communicate with mankind. At the end of the study, they concluded that thirty four participants actually were atheists...

...going to give you the paragraph for your paper. Just give a basic recap of the paragraph in the book. It may be nearly word-for-word. The second and third paragraphs allow you to describe the proposed solutions, procedures, opinions, thoughts, positions, or whatever is required to satisfy the case objectives. Write this paper in the voice the text requests or just as a written response to me. These papers will not be read to the class, nor will they be harshly graded. The purpose of the Case Projects is to engage critical thinking in the realm of the subject and communication of ideas. This is not a writing course, but written communications is important in the IT world. Your final paragraph should include a recap of the objective and solution. Please remember to keep the audience in mind. If your selected topic is a letter to other IT folks, you may use technical jargon without a ton of explanation. However, if you’re to write a user policy for example, you should tone down the tech talk to end-user level. Remember to include AT LEAST one external source in each of your papers. This source may be anything you’d like as long as it has something, anything, to do with the subject and comes from a reputable source. We will be using the MLA standards for our citations. I have included a link to Purdue University’s OWL web site at the bottom of this paper. It’s a great source of information for these papers. You don’t need to create a separate...

...Guidelines for the Audience Analysis Paper Effective public speaking requires that a speaker consider the various characteristics of the audience and utilize insights from that audience analysis during the development and presentation of the speech. This paper provides an opportunity for you to conduct an analysis of the audience for your speeches in this course and discuss the ways in which you might use conclusions derived from that analysis in the development and presentation of a speech to them. Although the focus of your analysis is up to you, all papers should meet the following expectations: • The paper should provide 1) An analysis of the classroom audience (including a description of selected, relevant characteristics (demographic or situational) and how those characteristics may affect the audience’s reception of the speech you are planning in COMM 3; 2) A discussion of techniques you would utilize in the development and/or presentation of a speech to take those specific audience characteristics into account; and 3) Some consideration of the limitations or potential problems that might accompany the conclusions you have reached during your analysis of the audience. • In addition to whatever other evidence you use to support your claims in the paper, you must also make reference to the textbook in the form paraphrases or direct quotations. The textbook is the only source required for this assignment, although you may include additional research...

...My writing process often begins with good intentions. As soon as I receive an assignment, I begin planning my essay and gathering my ideas. However, I often have trouble actually getting work done until I feel motivated by my time constraints. This is a weak point that could potentially cause my work to suffer. Once enough time has passed that I am under some pressure to start putting pen to paper, I gather my laptop, a pencil, and some paper. I prefer making notes about the topic of my assignment on a piece of paper before actually writing any drafts. I make short, simple notes, so it does not usually take very much time. After I have researched my points, I make a basic outline for my essay. This helps me keep my paper organized and make...

...Tick. Tock. At one moment while writing, you are looking at a blank document on your computer. Two seconds later, you are looking at the tweet you were tag in on your phone. Time is passing by faster than you know it. You realize now, the deadline on submitting your writing is approaching. You panic. You start to write random sentences, hoping that it will all make sense towards the end. Writing is a piece of art, therefore it should not include a deadline for submission. A deadline should not exist. A deadline affects the process of crafting a writing piece by focusing on the time of submission rather than the formation and creation of the writing. Writing should be about expressing feelings or emotions towards a topic that stands out. It...

...Now that the winter break has really kicked off you are hopefully looking at your past essays and wondering what would make them QUEUC ready. For your convenience I have compiled a few tips for you as you prepare and edit your essay for the January 5th, 2016 submission deadline. As you might know at QUEUC we have a 7-8 page requirement for submitting a paper. If you are like me and have an essay that is slightly under the 7-8 page requirement it may be time to review any notes that you had when drafting your essay. Was there another point you wanted to make but didn’t? Was there another source you could have cited and incorporated into your argument? Did you fully explore all the points of your argument? If you feel like you have nothing to add, take another look at your thesis and imagine counterpoints to it and address them in your paper while disproving them. Remember that a good thesis is arguable and you should be able to come up with a counterargument....

...suggest that an additional guide can be helpful, minimizing the need for searching through the sometimes confusing and highly detailed text of APA 5th. This paper should help you submit your assignments in the proper format. First, this paper will describe the mechanics of APA formatting. Second, this paper will describe some of the usage requirements of APA formatting. Third, this paper will describe the parameters of referencing material that comes from another person’s work. Finally, this paper will provide the grading criteria for APA formatting of your written assignments. Mechanics of APA Formatting There are several components that are mechanical issues of APA formatting. The most common errors students make are in the margins, running head, and headers (Green & Gold, 1996). This section will help to clarify any mechanical problems you may encounter while writing your papers. Title Page The title page for my course is different from the suggestions in the APA 5th. The title page on papers submitted for SEC370 requirements must include the following information: (a) the header area information, which includes the shortened head with a page number, (b) the running head, and (c) the center section, which includes the title of the paper, author’s name, DeVry University, course number, instructor’s name, and date of submission.
