For my interview I choose coach Brian Garza that currently coaches at Edinburg high school. He coaches the defensive ends there and does a fine job in my opinion. I started off by asking him what his background in football. He said they he grew up playing football. He played pop warner all the way to senior in high school. He explained to me how football was a massive part of his life. I asked him About his accomplishments in football. He said that while playing in high school, he was a 1st team all-city player, a first team all-district play, a 1st team all valley players, along with red zone player of the year, but that was not what he most proud of. I asked him what type of coach style he uses and what he believes is most effective. He explained that the number one thing you should do is never let an kid leave with where the last thing you told them was negative. Its not bad to yell and rip into someone because sometimes it’s necessary, but never let a athlete have a negative thought in his mind. Brian said he used to work in a bad school that being PSJA memorial where kids are bad, and poverty is high. These kids have little to know motivation to play football and to do anything of the matter. He explained that the only thing some of the kids look forward to is football because they finally get the attention the parent doesn’t give them. He told me that he had one student named Joseph Gamez. Brian started coaching him when he was a sophomore. Joseph had gang relation, misbehaved in class, and did not care about school at all. This student was head to loser Ville and would more likely end up in prison. Football straighten him up and he became a del student along with being a great football player.
