Meleager, the prince of Calydon, gathered me and some of his other companions to hunt the boar. During the hunt two centaurs attempted to insult me, so I killed both of them, making the first blood shed on the hunt part human. I was the first person to injure it by shooting my arrow and piercing it in the head. This injury slowed the boar down, allowing Meleager to finally stab it to death. He gave me the pelt as a prize, which made both of his maternal uncles extremely angry, for they thought a woman did not deserve the honor.
