So far at my time at the Muncie Police Victim Advocate office, I have developed a better understanding for what they do. In the beginning I was not exactly sure what they did and what the job was. I expected them to be more like a therapist but as I have worked alongside with them I have learned they are more like a high school guidance consoler. They help people in the best way that the possibly can by giving them references and helping people with paperwork and even going with them to the prosecutor’s officer.

At the Muncie Police Victim Advocate officer, I have been involved in a few different officer operations. One of the things that I have done is print, collect, and data entered police reports. This is a part of the Police Outreach Program that the victim advocate officer has. After in putting the data the office sends out letter to the victim/complainant of the police report offering their services. This past Monday, I made a what the officer calls Stalking packets. These packets are something that they pass out to victims of stalking. These packets include a lot of valuable information that the victim may need. While there I have learned that there is not only a 911 center but also a center which deals with different office affairs. One of the things in particular is that officers out in the field and hospitals dealing with victims can call this line and request the services of a victim advocate. This was interesting to be because I didn’t realize that there was a special line for just officer communications. I thought that they officers and/ or the hospitals had the numbers of the victim advocates not a
