...Personal Statement For I have always loved working with children, even whilst I was at school. I use to babysit my neighbours children and took Childcare as one of my options at GCSE. I did however go into Business Administration when I left school. I did my Level One whilst at College and Apprenticeship in a local Company. I have worked doing office and reception work, until I started a family. To which I was a stay at home mum until they started school. I looked at changing my career into Childminding, but my local job centre were offering a chance to volunteer in school and help get us started on the path to working in schools. I did volunteer at my eldest son’s school, whilst I did my Level Two Numeracy and Literacy and other workshops with an understanding of working with children. I volunteered for nearly a year and was lucky enough, to be offered a job as a Teacher Assistant Level One. I have worked throughout the years in primary from Reception to Year Six, which gave me an insight to how my son would be taught and how I could help him. I have also worked in the Office at school and as a Welfare Assistant at lunchtimes. I did have a year out when I was on maternity with my middle son, I was offered a job with Statemented child to which I carried on working until my youngest son was born, as I was on maternity leave when I became pregnant with twin girls. When my youngest children started school I looked into courses that would help me refresh my knowledge and I...

...Doctoral Program Goal Statement John K. Bond My goals for applying for the Doctorate of Educational Leadership are varied; first, I desire to gain a better understanding of the use of data in education and how to apply the knowledge gleaned from that data to help solve problems we face in education today. Secondly, I understand that an advanced degree will enable me to continue on an upward career path. My professional aspirations for the next five to ten years from now are to become a public school superintendent or director of curriculum and instruction, and I am certain that a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership will aid in paving the way for these positions. My professional experiences are varied as well. I am a veteran of the United States Air Force and of the United States Army National Guard, serving my country for a total of seven years in those organizations. My teaching career began as the Director of Bands at Wahama High School where I served for eleven years. I also served as band director at Meigs (OH) Middle School and at Gallia Academy High School before becoming the assistant principal at Wahama in 2008. In the spring of 2009 I was named Principal at Wahama. ...the five functions of effective management; planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling to my professional career in examples that I have encountered. Examples will include from both positions I have held in the district; some will be explained in positive aspects and others in negative aspects. I have been employed about two years with the La Joya Independent School District. My journey began in the human resources department as a receptionist to being promoted to personnel clerk. Later I transferred to an elementary as a teaching aid for special education children. The district serves over 4,000 employees and consists of 23 early childhood schools, 8 middle schools, 3 high schools, 5 early college and academy schools, and an alternative center. The planning function is critical in the human resource department. With new laws taking effect, people transferring, and new departments being made; working in human resources is fast paced and merciless to those that cannot multitask. The environment is assessed internally and externally by executives, goals are implemented to all departments and individuals, to allocating appropriate resources to maintain support in departments. A key strategy implemented by the department is organizational change. The human resources department is responsible for finding and retaining highly qualified teachers. “Human resources decision makers can determine using an assortment of techniques, whether a job candidate can perform...

...RESUMES WHAT IS A RESUME? A resume is a custom designed, written summary of your background. It provides a thumbnail sketch of your education, experience, and qualifications to a prospective employer. An effective resume targets a specific type of position and relates your skills and experience to that position. WHO WRITES A RESUME? A resume is written by anyone seeking employment, both part-time and full-time. Although there are companies that provide resume-writing services, the most effective resumes are written by the job seeker--after all, who else knows you, your qualifications, and your experiences better--someone you just met, or you? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A RESUME? A good resume (in combination with a cover letter) will provide you with an interview. The employer will select applicants on the basis of how well their skills match up with the job requirements. Sometimes, the difference between getting an interview and being placed in the “no” pile is a well put-together resume. GENERAL RESUME GUIDELINES: Length: • A one-page resume works for the recent graduate. If you have extensive work history, two pages are reasonable. Remember to limit pertinent to what is important to the current job objective. Appearance: • Developing a well organized, readable layout determines if it gets read! Direct the reader’s eyes to the format. • Avoid dense text appearance, which is difficult to read. • Use high-quality white or off-white paper--stay conservative...

...Personal Statement Dear Sir or Madam, I wish to apply for admission to the post-graduate programme in Education of Nottingham Trent University for your September 2015 intake in order to enhance my career prospects. #Academic background It is not easy for the young generation in my country to be able to determine their future career, especially those who have just finished high school, when they do not have deep understanding of the reality and their passion, and that was also my case. When I prepared for the entrance examination to university, I chose to major in Finance and Banking at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, one of the leading universities in my country. I did not know well what I desire was. However, during my four years at university, where I had to meet high requirements of English to read materials in English, gradually I found my special passion for the language, which I used to consider as an important subject at school. At the same time, taking part in social activities such as teaching children with foreign teachers at kindergartens and primary schools makes me realize how much I want to help the Vietnamese young generation learn English. My efforts in extra-curriculum events did make me find my desire of being an educator instead of being a banking expert. I am strongly convinced that a career of such great significance can spare me no efforts to study and use my ability to partly assist young people in my country overcome difficulties in...

...Achieving Our Potential The majority of individuals recognize that education allows us to analyze, understand and appreciate our environment while giving us the life skills to survive in this globalized world. According to Merriam’s Dictionary, the definition of education is “any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character, or physical ability of an individual.” Although most people have similar ideas as to what education is to them, I learned that not everyone’s opinion is comparable. As a student changes over from middle school to high school, they are given more of a voice because they are able to choose classes, although it is only a select amount. Allowing high school students to select a class gives them the opportunity to explore and learn a different subject. Also, students begin to discover their hidden talents. Tied together, required core classes and the classes students may choose from, help expand their prospect. Also, classes join into each other and benefit one another, sparking student interests and understanding of the classes themselves. I wondered what a high school student’s outlook on education would be and senior, Esther Herrera, gave me her opinion. “I am 17 and I think education is extremely important. I will admit that I do not always find school the most fascinating way to spend my time, but it is necessary.” The students begin to define themselves by the subjects and areas they are most interested in and their desire to expand...

...between a regulatory agency, like the Texas Board of Nursing and a Professional Nursing Organization, like with Texas Nurses Association, are many. Even though both agencies support nursing, they do in different ways. The mission statement of the Texas Board of Nursing is as follows: “The mission of the Texas Board of Nursing is to protect and promote the welfare of the people of Texas by ensuring that each person holding a license as a nurse in the State of Texas is competent to practice safely” ("Mission and Values," n.d., para. 1). One of the primary roles of the BON is license issues. They issue and renew licenses for nurses in the State of Texas. They issue all licenses to graduates of approved nursing education programs. All nurses are required to renew their licenses on a biennial basis with evidence of required continuing education. In the State of Texas, RN’s must have twenty hours of CEU’s every two years for this renewal process. The BON enforces the NPA (Nurse Practice Act) and nursing education, conducting investigations of complaints against nurses and adjudicating complaints ("Licensure Renewal," n.d.). ...Legal Issues in Public Education Grand Canyon University EDA 555 February 25, 2015 Response to Concern of Teacher Misconduct To: Mr. Joe Black, Lead Custodian From: The Principal Date: February 24 Subject: Letter of Concern Mr. Black, Thank you for sharing with me the information about an educational professional in our building. I appreciate that you felt confident enough to bring this to my attention. The safety of the students and staff are very important to me and I will take the allegations seriously and investigate it with great detail. I have professional protocol to follow to start the investigation. I will need you to come in and make a formal statement about what you witnessed from the girls communicated to each other. Our school reputation in our community is very important to me so I would like for you to come in as soon as possible so we can get the investigation started. Thank you for your concerns. Principal PLAN OF ACTION It needs to be determined if the allegation is recent or past conduct and if it is a risk the behavior may be repeated. If it is determined that there is a chance that the allegation may be repeated than affirmative action must be taken to keep the students and staff safe, that can be done by temporarily suspending with pay or reassignment. It is important to understanding the collective bargaining and superintendent responsibility before taking these steps. There also has to be a determination if the allegation...
