A choreographer, by definition, is someone who composes a sequence of movements for a performance of dance. Petra Inglis believes that a choreographer is much more, they are artists, architects, painters and motivators. They have a gift to personally touch viewers through movement at any caliber and transfer numerous types of emotion. Choreographers have a gift of sharing; they tell stories or even entertain any magnitude of audiences globally. Dance is something that everyone can connect to on some level, it is an outlet that brings so many together.
Petra Inglis is a professional choreographer for studios in the Stanislaus region of California. She understands the importance of classical execution as well as the development of collaborating ideas such as style and partner work, giving her more resent work a more contemporary feel as opposed to her old school feel that she began with. She brings out the joy in dance and strives to motivate audiences to get up and dance. While it is a serious art form she never wants dancers to lose sight of what inspired them to begin their dance journey. Work ethic is key to anyone success and encourages her dancers to be collaborative and creative. She sees that dance is moving towards an increasing collaborative direction and is always looking forward to where it is going to go next. Her advice to aspiring choreographers is to watch as much dance as you can and often, it is important to keep inspiring yourself and growing as a choreographer.
