Physical therapy students should demonstrate professionalism, whether they are in class or a clinical experience. A professional physical therapy student displays a variety of important characteristics. A few include appearance, demeanor, teamwork, communication, reliability, ethics, and organizational skills. A professional should always present a neat appearance. Students want to make a fine impression when meeting with patients or superiors. If you are not fittingly put together they may assume you do not care. Once the clinical experience begins, students should be in the appropriate dress code at all times. While completing a test or work cheating should not be a thought. When cheating or plagiarizing occurs there is harm to oneself since nothing is learned. Be ethical even in the clinical setting. The student therapist always follows the rules and guidelines given. They have to be trustworthy to patients, peers, and other superiors. When trust does not exist between the student and client treatments will not advance. The student ought to always be respectful towards everyone and show compassion. Lastly, everything worked on shall benefit the patient and no wrongdoing should exist. One last characteristic a professional student of physical therapy should possess is organizational skills. Students keep notes and materials organized. Organized notes will then make it easier for one to study and be successful. To avoid confusions while at a clinical experience, paperwork needs to stay organized. If there is, a mix up it can mess up insurance paperwork or treatment plans.
