Analysis Of High-Jinks: Shoot-Out By Guy Martin

...simulated violence is problematic, but the evidence shows that simulated violence is harmless. Not only does it show people’s determination to succeed, but it also teaches you that by working hard you can get a reward and you can meet new friends. According to Guy Martin in his article “High-Jinks: Shoot-Out”(2009), “The idea was to use a cell phone to call Cohen’s landline, posing as Cohen’s teammate Dominic, using Dominic’s caller I.D. The call had been engineered by a remote computer by a squad with prestigious hacking skills.” This shows how determined the students were to succeed. Many people may say that they should use their determination for more useful things, but games like the one in Guy Martin’s article, students are using their great technical skills to their full potential. This could allow kids to discover how great they are at technology and give them a final push to pursue their dreams of a job with lots of technology....

Should College Athletes Get Paid Essay

...College Athletes Get Paid? College athletes should be paid for playing at the college level. This topic is interesting to me because it has been a debatable topic for a long time. College athletes deserve to get a pay check because they are still responsible to keep their grades up while playing and training for football. They work harder than the pros because they have more of a motivation to get to the higher profession than someone who is already there. They can use that money to help support their families. The coaches are getting paid but they don’t play a sport or endure in a sport. The NCAA is making a profit out of them. In all honesty, the college athletes are one of the most hardest working athletes that don’t get paid. College...

...being able to accomplish something important to them makes you become persevering. I have always been working extra hard to get what I want and this time it was worth it. Ever since I was a kid I had been farming and doing hard labor to help support my parents and family. But I realized that there is a time that you have to work hard to get something for yourself. What I purchased was an acoustic guitar. This acoustic guitar was the first artifact that I bought with my own share. It’s nice curve shape and maple wood hard top with a beautiful flower design made it stand out. The guitar has been an important part of my life. This was a Martin acoustic guitar. I got to experience my talent in performances which made me became a musician. When I first picked up the guitar I was young, about the age of 11 I was very ambitious and wanted to learn all my favorite songs and master everything to know about it. I knew that if I kept focus and practiced everyday I would accomplish my goals. A very important part of playing any instrument is your hands and fingers and I would soon learn that without them it would be difficult if not impossible to play them. I was playing basketball with my friends one day and I went for the ball and jammed my thumb into the ground. Without thinking twice I continued playing thinking it was nothing more than a small sprain, I continued playing. Later would I find out the choice I made was a poor one. At first I didn't realize the magnitude of what happened...

Musical Autobiography

...Waking up in the morning in my warm bed so comfortable it feels like i’m laying on a cloud. The sound of drums in a distance and the guitar and bass playing soothing rhythms. While the vocalist sings with all his breathe bringing all the instruments together in harmony. I slowly get out of bed to the time of the tune. The music controlling my movement as I walk to the living room where it is playing. I get stuck in the music's’ spell and start to lipsing and air guitar. I did that when was little when I fell in love with music. My dad got me this ocean blue mini drum-set because I wanted to play the drums. I loved the intense sound they made with a hard hit, the THUD of the bass drum, and the loud CRASH hitting the symbols. Every morning getting...

Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games

...Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) XXXXXX X XXXX Prof. XXX X XXXXXXX Human Computer Interaction May 5 2005 There are major differences when playing chess in person to playing chess in cyberspace. Playing massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) can become very addictive to the user especially if they are playing from home. Playing chess face-to-face with another person (called OTB, Over the Board) you get a sense of competition where there is tension in the air. I would say the first and most obvious thing that you could have happened playing online chess that would never happen playing face-to-face is losing your Internet connection. Whether you just made your first move our ready to call checkmate once your Internet connection has been severed it is unlikely you can recall that game. With two individual computers connected to the game server, any one of the three could lose connection at any time. Another, thing that you would not have in a face-to-face chess game would be a lot of conversation. In an online chess game you and your opponent have the ability to communicate by text or by voice while playing the game. To further expand on this point of conversation during the game, some opponents use the conversation to taunt and ridicule their opponent. They do this in an effort to distract you hoping you will make a mistake that they can capitalize on. If you are playing a serious...

Case Study

...that says, “Competition can bring out the best and worst in someone.” It is okay to be a competitive person and work hard for what you want. Sometimes you see a person have better sportsmanship due to a sport, but then sometimes their competitive edge can get the best of them and it can change them into an unrecognizable person, a person that people don’t like. In this case you can see that playing basketball has affected Nathan negatively as he has become too competitive, rude and arrogant. This does not make him a bad person though. He has just let his competitive edge get the best of him and he lets the sports affect his character in a negative way because everyone says that he is the nicest guy off the court. He has become aggressive and extremely arrogant and those are characteristics that no one should posses. He needs to realize that by knocking another player over or showing off in front of them when he makes a three pointer isn’t going to make him a better player. What makes him a better player is the fact that he shows up to practice early and stays late. He does not need all the dramatics in the game. Generally sports have a good influence on people. They can learn many skills from playing a sport such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and even socialization skills. Also making the transition from high school to college can be tough on a student and playing a sport can help them better ease into the college life (Durham, "5 benefits of participating in a college sport")...

Benny Paper

...big problem since the day the NFL started. People did not know how dangerous football was until the crisis of Mike Webster broke out in the 90s. He played for Pittsburgh, played in the center, and wore number 52. By wearing that number he knew he obviously had to be the toughest player on the field. By playing in the center, there was no glory for Mike Webster. It was play after play while going in head to head with other players. Most guys play for 6 years or so, and then retire but that was not the case for Mike Webster. He played for 17 years in a dangerous game that he loved a lot. After he retired from the NFL, he was a different person than he was before he started playing in the NFL. Pam Webster recalled, “To see his brain declining years later was such a sad thing, because he was incredibly smart, and what I've said the boys have this gift that they see detail that no one else picks up on, and Mike had that gift.” During a football game, sometimes Mike would see someone flexing, moving, and he would then draw them off to the side just by moving his body. He basically knew where everything was on the field. If you were to look for that in his old films when he was playing, you would see mike notice something like that play, and he would turn to Terry Bradshaw and tell him to change the play. Mike was the master of the game for sure. Mike’s ex-wife Pam Webster, said in League of Denial that she had more respect for Mike than any player on the field. Mike’s ex-wife really...

My Coaching Philosophy Of Golf

...My coaching philosophy is laid back for sure. I believe that being a tough coach is not the way to go. I believe this because most players will not respond well to hard coaching especially in golf. Golf is all about fundamentals and staying positive. So as a golf coach I would focus on getting to know my players and making sure they are staying positive and constantly working on fundamentals and how to fix their mistakes in all sorts of positions. My practice would consist of some range time but I have found from experience that playing 9 or 18 holes a day will better players for matches. I think this because on the range you can’t really get a good experience playing the game it’s more for working on your swing and fixing bigger mistakes,...

The Great Gme of Hockey

...millions of other fans watching this nationally televised game, witnessed this great phenomenon live. Now you might wonder why millions of other fans and I tuned in to see the game. The answer is because millions of fans and I love and appreciate the game of hockey. In my opinion, it truly is the most exciting game both to play and to watch. While playing hockey and watching hockey are obviously two very different activities, they have at least one thing in common; they are both very fun. Let us take a closer look at each activity individually and see why so many others and I enjoy it so much. I sincerely enjoy the thrill that I receive while playing hockey. I am not alone about this feeling. If you were to ask someone that plays hockey, as to why they play, one reason he or she will almost definitely tell you is something along the lines of that, “they love the thrill that the game has to it”. Now obviously, when I say the word “thrill”, it is not the same type of thrill that one might receive through skydiving, or the likes. Rather, the thrill that comes from playing hockey is of a less risky breed. I love playing sports in general. So maybe it is easier for me to come across as someone that loves hockey. So let me set it...
