...The Markit PMI, or the Purchasing Managers’ Index, tracks business conditions over thirty counties, becoming one of the most closely watched economic indicators in the world. By analyzing variables such as output, net orders, unemployment, and prices across key sectors, this index provides information regarding the private sector economy. Ultimately, economic analysts, business decision makers, forecasters, banks, and policy makers, often use PMI to understand the business conditions of a particular economy. The Institute for Supply Management (ISM), is the non-profit group responsible for updating and releasing the PMI. As a monthly ISM Report on Business, information is released based on five different “sub-indicators.” These five indicators include the production level, new orders from customers, supplier deliveries, inventories, and employment level. In order to establish the data, the index of the sub-indicators are established by surveying more than 400 purchasing managers worldwide. The purpose of the PMI is to offer reliable fact-based information on a monthly basis. Unlike other indexes, the PMI is produces at a much faster rate, and uses the same methodology as international comparisons. Likewise, PMI is used readily due to its numerous conveniences. In fact, one of PMI’s advantages is that the information is released on a fixed time cycle, the first day following the survey month. It is also found that the Purchasing Manager’s Index is an excellent predictor, especially...

...IS Success Model in E-Learning Context Based on Students' Perceptions Freeze, Ronald D; Alshare, Khaled A; Lane, Peggy L; Wen, H Joseph. Journal of Information Systems Education21.2 (2010): 173-184. The title captures the objective of the study which is to evaluate the success of the E-learning based on the IS success model. Abstract This study utilized the Information Systems Success (ISS) model in examining e-learning systems success. The study was built on the premise that system quality (SQ) and information quality (IQ) influence system use and user satisfaction, which in turn impact system success. A structural equation model (SEM), using LISREL, was used to test the measurement and structural models using a convenience sample of 674 students at a Midwestern university. The results revealed that both system quality and information quality had significant positive impact on user satisfaction and system use. Additionally, the results showed that user satisfaction, compared to system use, had a stronger impact on system success. Implications for educators and researchers are reported. Keywords: IS Success, E-Learning, User satisfaction, System use, System quality, Information quality 1. INTRODUCTION Both undergraduate and graduate courses are experiencing a migration away from the traditional classroom and toward a greater emphasis for electronic delivery of content (Allen and Seaman, 2008). The project managed by Lawrence Livermore Laboratory was a great success because of the certified project personnel and the thorough application of the PMI standards and principals. It was put together to serve a large scientific community to explore new technologies in energy production involving new frontiers in astrophysics, material science, and nuclear science (Institute, 2012). The facility had the goal of developing self-sustaining nuclear fusion, which is the process that powers the sun and the stars, in the laboratory for the first time. The finished facility contains more than 3,000 pieces of amplifier glass, 8,000 large optics, and 30,000 small optics that have been assembled into 6,206 replaceable units (PMI.org, 2010). ...Saturday, August 29, 2015 Prepared for Dr. Onu Prepared by: Jim Valdivia Purpose: Customized Project Management Toolbox for case study: EMC with PMI; Excellence on a Global Scale. A PM’s ‘toolbox’ includes numerous tools and techniques. In order to produce a successful project, a PM must integrate the shareholder’s needs and expectations with the knowledge areas (Carstens, D., Richardson, G., Smith, R., 2013) as illustrated below. Stakeholders’needs and Expectations | 9 Knowledge Areas | | ProjectSuccess | | Core Functions | | | | Scope Mgt. | Time Mgt. | Cost Mgt. | Quality Mgt. | | | | | | | | | | | PROJECT INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT | | | | | | | | | | | HR Mgt. | Communication Mgt. | Risk Mgt. | Procure Mgt. | | | | Facilitating Functions | | | 1. Stakeholders. I would begin the customization of my management toolbox by taking the time necessary to identify the unique groups and individuals for the project. With limited resources in a highly competitive market, I would want to do everything possible to ensure that relationships that matter the most for the benefit of the project were the focus. I would want to cluster the candidates according to common needs and expectations. I would start by asking key questions. Does the candidate have a fundamental impact on the success of the project? Can the PM clearly identify what is desired from this candidate? Does the PM want to foster growth in this relationship? Can...

While attending a trade show Dr. Jones, the managing partner at Sunset Medical, was approached by a medical consulting firm, Physicians Medical Inc. (PMI), to provide the practice billing and administrative services. Dr. Jones decided to hire PMI and signed a contract in February of 2011. Based on the interim financial statements that were released in June of 2011, Dr. Jones gave PMI control of the overall day to day operations of the practice. PMI immediately relieved the office manager of her duties and took over all operations of the practice. ...move structure is rather unusual, as the evaluation constitutes the vast majority, hence the textual analysis will primarily revolve around the lines 1 - 15, and incorporate the evaluation as supplementary information. The media text embraces all of the appeal forms to a certain degree, and uses argumentative discourse to persuade the reader. The primary appeal form is undeniably logos, which also aligns with the previously defined expository move structure. With the primary focus on logos, PMI undertake a historical approach to persuade the reader of litigation being insufficient as a means of control. An example of logos is found in line 38 - 44, where PMI elaborate on past and ongoing litigations. PMI utilize repetitions and enumerations of the countries implicated, which substantiate and emphasize PMI’s claim that litigations are tedious and futile. Additionally, repetition of countries involved is also an example of epiphora, as they are mentioned at the end of successive phrases. PMI have through their extensive use of logos tried to achieve a percieved role of expertise, hence eliminating the need to include an expert to validate the claims. However, the idea of including an expert is to...

...a timeline of nine months was set. Though the exponential growth in investor funds took care of the project’s financing there was a great deficit in experienced and certified project managers to run the complex projects with aggressive deadlines. The MOP thus needed to strengthen the human capital for the project’s efficiency. The solution for the MOP lay in replacing the outmoded project management principles used for past projects with modern techniques and practices by adopting a structure based on standards from the Project Management Institute (PMI). In the process MOP sought internationally ways to maximize the project and human capital value. It met with PMI leaders who emphasized the significance of elevating MOP’s Project management office (PMO) to a strategic role within the organization in line with the MOP’s strategic goals.
