The fiery lengthy, hair and piercing green blue eyes in contrast to her paled skin, visually similar to myself but that is not the sole reason I find myself so drawn to this character. I grew up watching the batman cartoon and she has become an integral part of my life. Even though in some of the older movies she is misrepresented as and evil promiscuous woman to be feared but in reality that's not who she really is and her portrayal is different throughout many of the comic books and television series.

Caring attentive nature, with strong passion and an ultimately selfless goal. Poison ivy broadcasts a strong, smart, savvy and yes at times a little devious aura. As her name suggests she is quite strongly rooted in nature. She is

Alugbati Sigarilyas Bread

...CHAPTER 1 The Problem and Its Background Introduction One of the agricultural countries in Asia is the Philippines that wealthy when it comes to different varieties of vegetables, fruits and other edible crops that provide people the basic needs in life. But it is also a fact that some of these products cannot be improved due to lack of knowledge on how these products can be transform into food. Philippines have numerous crops and still not all aware of many different vegetables here thus they are not aware of the countless nutrients they can get from it. A remarkable nutrient that gives benefits that can improve one’s health. Since Philippines have been conquered by many races, it is possible to adopt some of their culture and one of the greatest impacts on us was the Spaniards. As the time goes by, Spaniards introducedsome of their food like the braso de marcedes, champorado, ensaymada, mechado, pan de sal, polvoron and many more. Filipinos inherited Pan de sal from the Spaniards who once colonized the country, but as the years passed Filipinos made some revisions and declared as our own. Way back 16th Century, the Spaniards introduced the breads that comes in rolls and served during breakfast. Spaniards trained Filipinos on how to make bread and until now, the techniques are still there. Pan de sal, which literally means “bread of salt”, is typical Filipino bread that is traditionally served as a breakfast roll. Pan de sal is made of flour, yeast, sugar and salt...

Christopher Pike - Weekend

...Weekend by Christopher Pike ONE The road was painful. Last summer's hurricanes had dug strategically placed potholes across the narrow asphalt highway. Every time their dusty Datsun hatchback hit one — every sixty seconds — Shani Tucker's head kissed the car's ceiling. She wanted an aspirin, but they upset her stomach, and it was already worse off than her head. Long drives were not her forte. She wished that there was room in the front seat with Kerry and Angie, where at least she could have tied herself down with a seat belt. But Angie was driving, and Kerry's hand was glued to the radio, searching vainly through static bands. Though the road was doing its best to slow them down, they were, nevertheless, too far south into Mexico to catch San Diego's stations. Glancing out of the window at the brittle tumbleweed, the baked orange hills, and dry, cracked ravines, Shani felt as if she had crossed into another world, rather than merely into another country. "Can't get anything on this damn thing," Kerry Ladd said, fretting as usual. "Turn it off," Shani said. "I have a headache as it is." "I've got to have music," Kerry said, snapping in a cassette. Pat Benatar started wailing about precious time. Kerry wasn't the most considerate of friends. But Shani didn't complain. The grinding guitar was the lesser of two evils. Constant external distraction was necessary to keep strung-out Kerry from exploding. "I've got to turn off the air conditioning, again," Angie Houston warned...

How to Develop a Super-Power Memory

...Foreword 11 How Keen Is Your Observation? 13 Does what you see register in your mind? Which light is on top of the traffic light? Is the number six on your watch dial, the Arabic #6 or is it the Roman #VI? Other observation questions. The importance of observation in memory. Habit Is Memory 20 There is no such thing as a poor memory, only a trained or untrained one. There is no limit to the capacity of the memory. Lucius Scipio was able to remember the names of all the people of Rome; Seneca could memorize and repeat two thousand words after hearing them once. Test Your Memory 24 If you can remember any one thing by association, you can do it with anything else. A series of tests for you to take now to indicate how limited your untrained memory is. Interest in Memory 32 The first step is to be interested in remembering names, faces, dates, figures, facts—anything, and that you have confidence in your ability to retrain them. Link Method of Memory 39 What the Link Method is. Use this method of associating ridiculous mental images with items you want to remember. Start to remember as you've never remembered before. Peg System of Memory 48 The Peg System helps you associate and remember numbers. You can learn to remember 52 items by number, in and out of order. Uses of the Peg and Link Systems 60 Start with remembering a Shopping List and Daily Errands. From this you will go on to more difficult feats. How to Train Your Observation 66 ...

The Picture of Dorian Gray Chapter I The studio was filled with the rich odor of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pinkflowering thorn. From the corner of the divan of Persian saddle-bags on which he was lying, smoking, as usual, innumerable cigarettes, Lord Henry Wotton could just catch the gleam of the honey-sweet and honey-colored blossoms of the laburnum, whose tremulous branches seemed hardly able to bear the burden of a beauty so flame-like as theirs; and now and then the fantastic shadows of birds in flight flitted across the long tussore-silk curtains that were stretched in front of the huge window, producing a kind of momentary Japanese effect, and making him think of those pallid jade-faced painters who, in an art that is necessarily immobile, seek to convey the sense of swiftness and motion. The sullen murmur of the bees shouldering their way through the long unmown grass, or circling with monotonous insistence round the black-crocketed spires of the early June hollyhocks, seemed to make the stillness 2 of 250 The Picture of Dorian Gray more oppressive...

...C h a p t e r 1 Prewriting GETTING STARTED (OR SOUP-CAN LABELS CAN BE FASCINATING) For many writers, getting started is the hardest part. You may have noticed that when it is time to begin a writing assignment, you suddenly develop an enormous desire to straighten your books, water your plants, or sharpen your pencils for the fifth time. If this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader,...
