Throughout the history of religion, there have been men who have left remarkable deeds to the world. Pope Pius XII, who accepted the calling of God to be his disciple, has written a precious work for the Church. He is a genius who has served the Church in its history. His intelligence penetrates all areas. In this work I will try to investigate the importance the common priesthood, and ministerial priesthood, by using other documents of the Church, and also which served as the motivation for Pope Pius XII to write about this topic.
First of all, we see that Pius XII recognizes the existence of a baptismal priesthood, which cannot be denied, doubted, or underestimated. He quotes words of Scripture that seem decisive to him. But it does not …show more content…
For this reason, the sacrament of the Eucharist can be concelebrated with many priests due to the fact that the priest does not celebrate under his own power. Rather, the priest celebrates in persona Christi whose power is giver by Holy Orders. Therefore, the sacrament acts by itself for the power of the Holy Spirit, but it is not made by merit of who celebrates. Acting by the power of Christ, means that the priest acts with the same effectiveness and power of Christ himself, who through the priesthood concedes the dignity to consecrate the sacrament. Therefore, he is the appointed person to administer them, especially the Eucharist. “Christ is present at the august sacrifice of the altar both in the person of His minister and above all under the Eucharistic species. He is present in the sacraments, infusing into them the power which makes them ready instruments of sanctification.” The priest celebrates in identification with Christ who is the subject and author of this, which is his own sacrifice; therefore, it cannot be substituted by anybody. Through the words of consecration those words become significant and effective because they are divine words. There is not another sacrament like the Eucharist where this deification is more accurate for two reasons: the first, in this sacrament the matter is consecrated, while in others the matter is already consecrated; second reason, the consecration of the matter of others sacraments is a blessing, in the Eucharist it is a

Through his efforts, Fournier discovered a small village located in the Pyrenees, “close to the frontier between France and Spain” (vii). This village, Montaillou, was the home of hundreds of peasants who had not yet been converted to Catholicism. Because they were not practicing Catholics, Fournier had many inhabitants of Montaillou brought before him for questioning. Unlike other Inquisitors, Fournier took care to record every detail from his appointments with the peasants, hoping to develop a greater understanding of their culture and reasons for maintaining a society which, from his perspective, was founded upon heresy.
