...The Burghers of Calais is a sculpture made by Auguste Rodin. This sculpture was made in the years of 1884-9 and is located in Calais, France. I believe that Rodin made his sculpture to be a sculpture in the round, which means that it is meant to be seen from all sides. The person viewing the work must walk or move around it to see the whole thing. There are four main ways to make a sculpture, which is carving, modeling, casting, and assembling. In this particular sculpture, Rodin used the casting method, I do not know what the original models were made out of but to mold it he used bronze. The history behind The Burghers of Calais is six top leaders surrendering themselves to be executed. Rodin was commissioned by the French city of Calais...

...Personalities come in all shapes and sizes. Everyone is different and unique in their own way. Personalities range from how you act with family to how you show yourself in your career. All different personalities all make up a workforce. In this paper we will be breaking down those personalities and presenting a plan that helps improve their relationship with their work and their team within their career. Individual Assessments Working individually or on a team requires you giving yourself to your work. Depending on your personality it can either help you in your career, or hinder you within your team. On my team I have 7 individuals who work together will very different styles of personalities. Within those personalities there are the thinkers, master-minders, producers, assessor, and the perfecter. When dealing with personalities that include wanting to be right, fear of losing individuality, not like authority, natural curiosity, and someone who likes to have control it can become difficult not only to address those personalities but also to combine them in a team atmosphere. Double space throughout in APA Master-minder The master-minder with the cautious style is more guarded, less indirect, is overly analytical. This can not only help the team by being analytical, but it can also cause conflict if the other personalities see the master-mind as a threat. Since the master-mind does seem to take some calculated risks it does seem that this individual will jump in at times...

...Running head: HOW FLOW AND CSIKSZENTMIHALYI How Flow and Csikszentmihalyi Came To Be S Langford Regis University Kristy Frush April 12, 2009 How “Flow” and Csikszentmihalyi Came to Be One may wonder who Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is. In this discussion a review his life as a child and into his adult life and how he came into discovery of the “flow” development. Discussions of his accomplishments as well as those who are inspired by him are given. Sometimes a person needs to know about a person’s background in order to appreciate the obstacles experienced for the realization that is possible for others to overcome ones past and realize the possibility of a more positive future. A view of how the “flow” has benefitted some. Csikszentmihalyi is known for his obsession for serenity, the man behind the “flow” and his life experiences getting there. On September 29, 1934 he was born in Fiume, Italy to his father a Hungarian diplomatic (Answers, 2006). He lived in various places growing up such as Rome and Florence. During his time as a child he spoke various languages from German, Hungarian, and Italian which proved to be an asset while living in an Italian prison camp during World War II. He lived through bombing throughout Rome as well as POW and refugee camps. It was during this time he learned how to play chess which became his way of escaping the world and the routines of the daily life activities of and from the war (Starr, 2008). ...When choosing the appropriate leadership style a leader needs to focus on the readiness level of its followers. The readiness level of followers depends on the degree of education and skills, experience, self-confidence, and work attitude. I scored 1 point in my readiness level, which indicates “low” readiness. The appropriate leadership style for my readiness level would be the directing style. Directing style means a high concern for tasks and a low concern for people and relationships. A directing style leader will establish clear goals and objectives for his or her work and also for his or her followers. I do think this is the appropriate style because followers, who have no clue about the job, self-confidence, or skills, need to be guided by the leader. The leader needs to provide guidance and instructions. Once the followers demonstrate they are self-confident, the leader can change from directing style to coaching style. My first couple of weeks in my former job, my supervisor used directing style as well. As time passed I obtained self-confidence and skills in my job, as a result my supervisor stopped giving me instructions because she knew I was ready for the job. That’s why I don’t agree with my result from the self-assessment test. Locus of control means if the person believes that they have control, or if it was out of their control. People with internal locus of control are more likely to succeed in school and cope with pain because they feel like they have control...

...How do I see myself five years from now? By year 2018, instead of being an astronaut which I cannot fail to remember as my ambition when I was little just like any other kid of my age, I shall have been an alumnus of CvSU getting my certificate in electrical technology. I also see myself in the corporate world applying the skills and knowledge I have in my chosen field and along with the stable job I have is the wellbeing of my family. In the first place, who would not want to help their family and by some means repay the hardships they’ve been through just to support your schooling? Similarly, I also see myself and my family not experiencing the problems we’ve encountered in the past years especially when it comes to money matters. Instead, we shall have been living a comfortable and happy life. Five years from now, aside from support I give to my family, I also see that by this time I have met the girl whom I can spend my whole life with. Moreover, I shall have also saved a certain amount of money, visited many places and have experienced some leisure for myself, let's say, vacations, out-of-town trips, mountaineering, etc. What’s more important is that by this time I see myself believing in the words my loved ones have told me: Through the education that we can acquire, we shall realize that we are not powerless in the future; that our choices will bring us to certain goals. And this is what my degree will provide me. PRAYER Almight God, we praise your Holy Name and...

...Happiness: Gratitude FYSM Gratitude has the ability to make people happier. Throughout my research I have found numerous studies that have conducted experiments and done observations proving this to be true. There are many ways to define gratitude, and just as many ways to exemplify its connection to happiness. Smith Scott, the author of Psychology: Please Pass the Gratitude, said that the best explanation he has heard was by a man named Joseph Krutch who said, “Happiness is itself a kind of gratitude” (Smith, 2007). As mentioned in Time Magazine, “Of course, happiness is not a static state. Even the happiest of people — the cheeriest 10% -- feel blue at times. And even the bluest have their moments of joy” (Wallis, 2005). This being said, there must be a reason as to why people become happy and gratitude is in fact a part of that reason. When people think of gratitude they tend to relate it to everyday things, such as saying thank you so someone who held the door for you, writing a card for your friend’s birthday, or something else along those lines. However, a study done by Lung Hung Chen and Ying Hwa Kee demonstrates a method that is less thought of, if thought of at all by many. They studied gratitude and its correlation with the well-being of athletes. During the study, they used two separate groups which each had a different focus. Group 1 consisted of senior high school athletes and was designed to look at the relationship between dispositional gratitude and well-being...

Every person has their own strengths and weaknesses and it is always a personal choice how they will use them. Today I took a survey that showed me my strengths and I want to speak about them. The two positive strengths that contribute to my personal life , my surrounding, and my learning experience are gratitude and a positive attitude. I have noticed being a grateful person allows you to have interpersonal relationships with people around you. When you care about people, they care about you too. I always had a close relationship with my family; from early childhood I have been taught to be thankful for everything. If you are enjoying every day of your life, as well as thanking the people around you for that, there will always be a flow of positive energy amongst you. Having a positive attitude is a strength of mine that contributes to a happy personal life, and a good work environment. A positive attitude is contagious. How can anybody be mad or upset at a person who is always positive and giving compliments? My personal life is great because there is no negative energy in it. I have recognized these as my top strengths, I will always be mindful of them, and try to utilize them in every moment of my life. My goal for this semester is to use them in service learning project, which is planting trees. During this project I will be...
