The topic that has been chosen to conduct this paper consists of a man who was known as Prete Rosso, the “Red Priest.” He was a Baroque composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher and cleric. His name was Antonio Vivaldi and people referred to him as the Red Priest because the color of his hair was red, but this was a common family trait. He was born on March 4, 1678 in Venice, Italy and immediately after he had been born he was baptized in his home by the midwife. This sparked interest in Antonio due to it reflecting on how religious his family was, and because while he was being born there was an earth quake that had occurred which caused his family to feel the need to baptize him immediately after his birth. Antonio’s official baptism in his church took place two months later when the family felt it was the right time. Antonio’s father, Giovanni Battista Vivaldi, was a professional violinist throughout his son’s entire life and he was admitted to the orchestra of the San Marco Basilica in Venice when Antonio was a little boy. He personally taught Antonio how to play the violin and how to play it to the most of his potential. One thing that is interesting from this fact is that since his father had been a professional violinist and had a lot of experience being a composer he had many connections with other famous professional violinists. This gave an opportunity for Antonio to meet these people and learn from some of the finest musicians and composers in Venice at the time. There was one thing that limited Antonio from broadening his variety of instruments. He had a chronic shortness of breath that restricted him from being able to master different wind instruments.
