Think about horses in horse shows aren’t they beautiful: those horses go through many hours of grooming to look that stunning. The process of grooming a horse builds a trust between the horse and the groomer. It can also be a very relaxing process. There are multiple steps to grooming a horse. The horse has to be cleaned and brushed from it’s head to it’s hooves. Different tools and techniques have to be used to properly care for different areas on the animal's body.
In order to groom a horse, first the horse must be caught from pasture. A pasture is a grassy fenced in area where the horse will spend a majority of its time. When putting the halter on the horse, first unclasp the clasp on the large strap. When you unclasp the halter it is the same action as unbuckling a belt. Then starting with the large end slowly pull the halter up the horse's nose, and then once you make it past the ears bring the unclasped strap towards the clasp the hook them together, again this would be similar to buckling a belt. Next the lead rope is connected to the halter they are connected by the metal loop at the bottom of the halter and the clasp at the beginning of the lead rope. The lead rope is a long thick rope with a clasp on one end. The lead rope will resemble a dog leash, however much thicker. The clasp on the lead rope will have the same style as a dog leash. Once the lever is pushed down the opening in the clasp should be put through the metal loop and then release the lever Next the horse must be led to the grooming station. When leading the horse to a grooming station remember to never walk in front of a horse because if the horse were to be spooked it could rear up and injure you or itself, which is why you walk to the side of the horse.
