Discuss who is responsible for producing global leaders.

In order for companies to achieve growth, it is often necessary and profitable for

them to have centers in other countries. With this fact, it is then necessary for companies to have leaders in these countries. But who is responsible for producing global leaders? Ultimately, the organization itself is responsible for producing global leaders but they must also encourage and motivate the employees to want to take this opportunity. However, the task of producing global leaders also falls to the parent country and the host country of the organization. Global organizations compete with a much broader group of companies than their domestic counterparts. The global organizations operate at the highest level of involvement in the marketplace and must develop strategies that are efficient and cost effective. Global organizations usually have multiple headquarters throughout the world and produce a product or service that is able to marketed to several different markets. Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011, p. 461). It is important for businesses to have effective global leadership in order for business to continue to grow globally. According to Greenberg (2003) the definition of global leadership is,” The extraordinary capacity to unify a global workforce around a single purposeful vision, through demonstration of personal mastery, thinking globally, anticipating opportunity, and using shared leadership networks.” The global business leader should be familiar with management techniques, communication, cross -cultural sensitivity, as well as the philosophy of the company and be able to act and teach the philosophy to employees.
