I recently watched and read the book/movie A Raisin in the Sun. They were both very good in different ways. But they did have many differences. In the movie the characters developed different. Walter was mean and nasty in the beginning of the movie. As it went on you could see the change in heart. He became more sweet and caring. He started acting different and everyone could tell. Now Ruth was aggravated and tired in the beginning, and she became more relived towards the end. She was happy about her new life and how much her life changed. Mama was very sad because of the loss of her husband, Walter Lee Sir, in the beginning. As the movie continues she becomes happier knowing that he is now in peace and things are looking up for their family. Now don’t even get me started on Bennie, disrespectful and very annoying. Her heart changes a little towards the end though. She becomes kinder to Walter in particular.

Everybody will have different opinions on the acting in the movie. In my mind it was horrible. There is one scene in particular that made me think this. When Ruth fainted it looked so unreal, good actors learn to master things like that. Also the emotions they showed were portrayed badly. They didn’t know how to really show what the characters were portraying. When actors and actresses have that ability people can really feel what role they are trying to play.

The book and the movie have many differences. The book focuses more on the plant and the one window then the movie does. Also the fact that in the movie there was more than window, and the window played a big part in the book. There were also some important parts missing from the movie. The whole scene with Bennie and Walter singing/yelling the Nigerian music was an important scene. It was the first time Bennie and Walter actually got along. It is where you start to finally see
