...Where Beauty Begins Nails have always been a part of a women’s beauty care, whether it’s retro 1970s or cool 2013. The ad that I chose to analyze is for the Natural Wonder nail polish. This ad was published in The Australian Women’s Weekly on February 11, 1976. The ad shows a women’s face covered with several hands over her eyes, and all the finger nails are painted in different vibrant shades of Natural Wonder nail polish. The model’s lips are adorned with red lipstick, which enhances to the ad’s visual appeal. The color palette used in this ad is very attractive and bright, and the photography is impressive. Underneath the photo is the narration of the ad, advising that this nail polish is a revolutionary product, as it does not only make nails beautiful but strong. The use of alluring vocabulary, different sizes of fonts and concise information leaves the reader with a clear sense of how the product works. The Natural Wonder, “Where Beauty Begins” is a rational, inspiring and persuasive ad, which justifies the appeal to credibility, appeal to emotions and appeal to reason. There are two aspects which make this ad believable and credible. Firstly, its publication in the Australian Women’s weekly magazine. The Australian Women's Weekly, launched in 1933, is the most widely read magazine in the history of Australian publishing. The magazine was first introduced as a weekly publication (National Library of Australia). Secondly, “the United States based cosmetics brand, Natural...

...Every business has a model regardless of what industry you are in. All business have models that have three main components. Those are (1) business commerce (2) business occupation and (3) business organization. Business commerce is the process where the good and services are produced. The nail technician does my pedicure and I pay her for her services and for doing such a good job would be considered business commerce. Business occupation is a skill or a service done to provide value to their customers. Nail technician is a very skilled and patient acquired job so you have to pay to get your services from a nail technician. Its not a job everyone can do so sometimes you have to go to the next person to make them look fabulous. Business organization is the last component of the business systems. This particular nail salon is very small since they only have one salon in town. I advertising in the local papers and around town. They definitely stick out when you drive by them. They also only have a few employees maybe 5 so they are very small. Since the business organization is the systems of task the relationship between the nail technician and the customer receiving the services have to have a common...

...during our leisure time, but there are some type of activity that often do provide amusement to us, including behavior that we find unacceptable; like flicking your hand in front of your eyes, pulling thread out of your clothes, making repetitive sounds, nail biting and many more. This kind of behavior is considered self-stimulation or we can called our mannerisms and can often perceive negatively because “they do not look normal”. It is not difficult to identify mannerism. If someone does a strange thing habitually, like clearing his/her voice superfluously, that is a mannerism. If someone (usually men) finds himself whistling every so often, that is a mannerism. If someone is fond of biting his or her fingernails, that is a mannerism. Nose poking, excessive or unnecessary tooth picking, tooth sucking, and indiscriminate hugging are also mannerisms. The habit of interjecting one's speech or sermon with a typical exclamation repeatedly and overuse of a gesture are some other mannerisms. Just look at the people around you. You are in a classroom together with your classmate. Sometimes you will notice that some of your girl classmates are playing with their hair, twirling a ring around their finger, biting their nails etc. And sometimes you notice someone of your classmate always winking on you, and you are very assuming, so you jumped on conclusion without any observation or knowing the reason behind those action of that guy/girl, and you therefore conclude that...

...The drawing pin. In this essay, I intend to write about the advantages and disadvantages about a drawing pin. I will also write about the key features of a drawing pin. These include; • Thumb Tacks - long heads, can be used as hooks • Drawing Pins - flat plastic heads • Giant Thumb Tacks - easy grip • Hexagonal Pins- paper labels on heads for coding • Map Pins - coloured heads for coding • Pyramid Pins - coloured heads for coding • All pins in assorted colours only Drawing pins are a short nail or pin used to fasten items to a wall or to a board which may be used in displays and intended to be inserted by hand, generally without the assistance of tools. Basic History Edwin Moore invented the "push-pin" in 1900 and founded the Moore Push-Pin Company. Moore described the push-pin as a pin with a handle. Later, in 1904, in Germany, a clockmaker Johann Kirsten invented the flat-headed thumb tacks for use with drawings. Components A drawing pin has two basic components: the head, often made of plastic, metal or wood, and the body, usually made of steel, brass, tin or iron. Many head designs are often flat, domed, spherical, cylindrical and a variety of heads such as hearts or stars. Drawing pins heads also come in a variety of colours. These can be particularly useful to mark different locations on a map. Some drawing pins are designed to have the body cut out of the head and bent downward to produce a tack. Drawing pins are really useful...

...Beautiful and elegant nails can be done in the comfort of your own home. Today, we are going to learn how to turn those worn out nails into elegant and beautiful nails. We will learn how to give ourselves a manicure and pedicure. First, we will start by gathering our list of items we will need. We will need the following items; such as, a foot soaking tub, wet wash cloth, dry towel, nail polish remover, cotton balls, nail polish, (I like to choose from a variety of colors) and a top clear coat. We will also need, a nail buffer, nail file, cuticle cream, cuticle clippers, toe spacers, , skin so soft and a nail dryer. I also like to have handy, an aerosol can of nail drying spray. (This is optional). Let us begin turning those brittle nails into elaborate nails. We will start by taking off the old polish. When choosing a nail polish remover, I prefer to use a non-acetone for natural nails; for instance, this will keep your natural nails less dry and much smoother. Let’s start with the finger nails. Take your dry towel, lay it over your lap or table to put your hands on; because, you don’t want to get the polish remover on your clothes or furniture, for this might ruin them. Now let’s take a cotton ball and soak it with the polish remover. Apply the cotton ball to your nail and rub firmly, make sure you remove all old polish. Repeat the process to the toenails to remove any unwanted old polish. You will then take the wet cloth and wipe both finger and toe nails off. Our next step...

...Story of a father and a little boy who had a bad temper There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.” You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there. Moral for the story: Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret...

My business would provide services from manicures and pedicures, to hair cuts and colorings, to acupuncture and full body massages. She does people’s nails, mostly women. She give them services such as pedicure, and manicures. To explain what manicures and pedicures are, manicures is like a fancy massage and pampering of one’s hands and pedicures is the same for one’s feet. As a guest wanting a manicure, he or she would first soak their hands in a warm salt water bath to loosen the dead skin. Then their hands are gently massage with pumice rock to remove the dead skin. The guest then get a series of massages and stretches of their hands to help releases their tension. The hands then get dipped in a warm wax solution. Pastels with deep dark colors of nail polishes are sitting on organized shelves to be chosen. Sometimes a salon will have a strong stench of chemicals, mixed with the sound of nail buffing drills, and chatter too. However, getting a manicure and pedicure is still a relaxing retreat that many women, even men, look forward to. When I was a just a little girl, I became exposed to the art of nail design and a vast selection of polishes throughout the years of my mother’s influence. Painting nails, playing with false nails, and the experience in taking trips to the nail salon with my mother have become hobbies of mine ever since then. Thereafter, I realize that in order to become a professional nail technician, it will take hours of practice and training to obtain your license, and testing your skills in your new workplace. This topic is something interesting that I liked learning about, and I thought it would be great to be able to save money by doing own nails. “As a nail technician or manicurist, you will trim and polish clients' nails, repair broken nails, and apply nail extensions.
