...Refining Solutions Travis Lara March 24, 2014 PHL-458 Carrie Woodhouse My issue happened about a year ago. I had to decide weather or not I should stay in the military or get out. This decision would change everything, not just in my life, but my families life. My first solution would be to stay in the military. With this solution came a lot of sacrifice. If I stayed in the military I would be receiving orders out of California, which is where home is, unaccompanied. Unaccompanied means that I would be moving without my family. I would be in a different state or country for two years without my family. The second solution would be to get out. The scary part about that is that I didn't have a job secured for when I got out as of yet. I had been applying through several law enforcement agencies and interviewing, but had not yet received a yes from any. I was given 24 hours to make the decision. I soon decided that the best solution for me was to get out. Although this is a decision left a lot to the unknown I just could not imagine being away from my wife and kids for two years. According to Ruggiero in Chapter 11 there are three steps to refining a solution. Step one is working out the details. In this step you need figure out exactly how your decision will be applied. Step two is finding imperfections and complications. In this step you check for common kinds of imperfections, compare the solution to competing ones, consider what changes your solution...

...Refining Solutions Paper PHL/458 May 6, 2013 Dr. David Jung Refining Solutions Paper The original issue of my paper stems from all the turmoil the world has witnessed over the past few years. Public shootings and bombings have intensified the support of more stringent gun laws. The support of gun control is the problem I have chosen to rectify. Stringent gun laws and the public backing of gun control are a rising social problem in America. This is a problematic issue because the fundamental perception of the world each individual has affects the way he or she takes in empirical information. This is a sensitive issue with dire implications and the controversy is and always has been immense. My first solution to this problem was to have some sort of declaration to never be able to change the Second Amendment. A Gallup poll survey confirms that 73% of Americans believe the Second Amendment “guarantees” the right to keep guns and only a mere 20% believe it exists to enable state militias. If the First Amendment fails, the Second Amendment becomes a necessity. The Founding Fathers were clear when they declared, “a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” If the Second Amendment is ever repealed it would be considered unconstitutional, taken away by a tyrannical government without the will of the people, there would be a revolution. The second solution...

...Week Three Refining Resolutions PHL/458 University of Phoenix Refining Solutions It is essential to refine ideas and solutions to find the highest quality solution to a problem. The creative thinking process is used to produce ideas but the critical thinking process is used to evaluate and refine ideas and solutions. Applying criticism to ideas and solutions reduces the risk for error and makes good ideas even better (Ruggiero, 2009). In this paper Arguments will be evaluated and revised resulting in a refined and final solution to the problem. Original Issue How do I find more personal time for myself without neglecting my friends and family? Or simply just taking a day to rest, relax or do something fun. Through close observation of my family, friends and myself, I discovered some unhidden feelings of frustration. These feelings originated because of the lack of communication from me to my friends and family. Everyone that I care about are unaware of their demands on my time or how they made me feel when I was deployed and was unable to be there for birthdays, holidays or special occasions. I would get emails and letters in the mail when I was deployed and it was depressing see how much everyone depended on me to keep the family together and plan all the functions. Initial Solutions With the importance of having free time and being able to balance my time with family and friends, I dove into my imagination and brainstormed for solutions. Initial solutions...

First, what do we mean by “good” A. Technically, only God is good - Luke 18:19 B. In God there is not even a shadow of darkness - I John 1:5 C. In contrast, we are unable to live without sinning at times - I John 1:8, Romans 3:23 D. When we ask “Why me?” we are implying that we have no responsibility for the problems we sometimes face. 1. This might be true at times, but I’ve seen people say, “Why am I being evicted from my apartment?” Perhaps it is because you are behind on paying your rent. 2. People tend to ignore or make light of their own responsibilities. E. Yet there are times that bad things happen, which are totally out of our control. 1. Still, we shouldn’t say that these things should not happen because we are too good to experience them. F. One of the things that the Bible teaches us is that sin has consequences – whether we are referring to our own sin or the sins of another. 1. There should be continuous training and development for the various line operators and technicians. Employee empowerment and motivation Conclusion: In my opinion SDTs have proven to be an effective tool for improving productivity and staff moral; there are several areas that need to be assessed at Corpus Christi, prior to the implementation of such a structure at the two other facilities. While productivity has increased at Corpus Christi, there remain some areas that require attention in order to achieve the high objectives set by the RL Wolfe management. The refining process would require time, dedication and full management commitment to SDTs. This refining process...

...There was a group of women in a Bible Study on the book of Malachi. As they were studying chapter three, they came across verse three, which says: “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.” This verse puzzled the women and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out about the process of refining silver and get back to the group their next Bible study. That week this woman called up a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest or her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot- then she thought again about the verse, that he sits as a refiner and purifier of silver. She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered “yes,” he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eye on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver were left even a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, “How do you know when...
