The Reiman Gardens are a botanical garden for the university. Reiman Gardens are located just outside of the main ISU campus. The entrance is next to the Jack Trice Stadium parking lot. These gardens play two important roles in the local community, many people will only see the gardens as one role however. Reiman gardens provides breathtaking horticulture and entomology displays, and outstanding educational programming. The oasis of Reiman Gardens had a natural genesis as part of Iowa State University’s mission to educate students in the area of horticulture I have always had a personal enjoyment in natural beauty, discovered through nature preserves and camping trips, the Reiman Gardens should be no exceptions. As a community resource, Reiman Gardens provides inspiration and information about the natural world and enhance citizens with science projects. Reiman Gardens’ atmosphere has a unique effect on students and the local community. The Reiman Gardens give ISU students a place to relax after a long day of classes. The local community can use the facilities at the gardens, including a classroom, and many nationally credited nature teachers to include in their lesson plan. On the website, There is a quote from Roy and Bobbi Reiman, “Let these gardens be a special place for students to come to quiet their minds, collect their thoughts, and find their futures.” Paths swirl throughout the gardens, never finding the end of a path. Scattered throughout are students in a trance of tranquillity that has been brought upon by the gardens. Unlike many gardens, this one is more than just a utility to the agriculture college. The Reiman Gardens are meant to be used by all students for a variety of reasons. From being a studying place, to a quiet thinking place, or just a stress reliever from high course load.
