We had eaten in our classrooms before but this day would not be the same as those other days. I had just gotten back from the cafeteria where I picked up my food, and sat down at my seat. It was corn dog day! I used to love corn dogs and on this particular day I got two corn dogs. I looked forward to eating my lunch, until the “Big Event.” My best friend Danny had a run-in with a bee before that “Big Event.” Just like this time, it was also at lunch when the other bee came towards Danny. It was toward the end of second grade year. He saw a bee trying to escape from the gym. The bee was flying on the glass window, when Danny got the idea to swat at the bee. It was on the ledge when all of a sudden “Smack!” He had just killed his first bee. “What did that bee do to hurt you?” I said. It was a hot fall day outside and since we did not have air conditioning yet, the windows were open. On occasion, a bee or fly would get in and buzz around the room, getting every third graders’ attention.
