• What skills do you notice in your interview style? This is, did you use rephrasing, reflective responding, clarification, interpretation, providing information, emphasizing client’s strengths, self-disclosure, summarization? During this interview I used the providing information skill. I provided my client with information needed for her to succeed at her intervention. I also used the empowerment, emphasizing on the client’s strength skill. We discussed where and when the client would attend her parenting classes. My client chose to attend parenting classes at her church where she thought she would receive additional support from her congregation. The client and I also discussed if she wanted me to make the appointments for her family or …show more content…
When the client returned to my office to meet with me for the evaluation phase, we determine if the goals were being met that we discussed in the planning phase and if positive changes have been reached. The client stated that the counseling sessions that she set as one of her action steps, have been effective and she has seen a positive change in her situation. The client mentioned that she thought it was a good idea if her family continued with counseling after her mandated sessions were completed. I measure the effectiveness of this interview by the goals that the client has met and by the eagerness of the client wanting to continue to get further help. The client has completed the court mandated sessions appointed to her and I would recommend that her child be returned to the …show more content…
Well I would expect some logistical problems to take place, like any normal family there could be scheduling conflicts to deal with. Work and school commitments that would make it impossible for the entire family to be able to make every appointment, which could delay the timeline of the scheduled mandated six month sessions. I am not delusional to think every case will be without any issues, conflicts or problems within the family. The client’s daughter could have behavioral issues that could make it impossible for them to make their scheduled appointment. If this happens due to the fact that the family is mandated to participate in these sessions there could be negative consequences for the family. The client and I discussed during our initial meeting the possibility of these types of problems occurring. I wanted the client to know that she could call me at any time, if she felt anxious or angry or just needed to talk I would be available. I believe relationship issues within this family would probably get worse before they get better. If this was to happen the timeline for this family could be set for a different date to make sure they get the adequate amount of counseling needed to eliminate the problem. I should have checked on the status if and when the client was awarded through the courts
