The research conducted in this article defines a set of hardware and safety systems coupled with environmental and other tangible objects to determine the risk cost within the sport. The information complied would aid the insurance industry in determining insurance premiums for events. The model developed was tested at the International Canoe Slalom Championship in Central Taiwan. The data collection in this research did not factor injuries caused by human factors. First the injuries were separated into two factors internal and external. An example of an internal injury may be a shoulder injury due to a rowing stroke. An external injury would be an injury caused by hardware. The data used were categorized into hardware sets, safety systems and tangible objects. The model had four steps, the combination of hardware and human support, the racing program with a code system used based on personal data, extra costs evaluation per venue and decision making. Each tier would have a hiarchical level of risk from high to low and each would have its own critieria to determine the risk with in each area. A number of propositions relating to aspects of human resource management are derived from the literature, and examined by interviewing senior managers in UK organisations where business process re-engineering projects had either been completed or were still in progress. The propositions are analysed under four major headings: structure and culture, the role of managers, team working, and reward system. The conclusion is that BPR principles on the management of human resources as stated in the literature seem to find a full application in most of the organisations investigated. However, there were two exceptions to the expectations in the literature. The first was that there would be a change to a process-based structure; a change is seen in the majority of cases, but to a matrix style of organisation. The second was the implication that team-based reward systems would appear; this has only happened in a minority of cases. Most inquiries into asexuality have approached it as either behaviour (lack of sexual acts) or a lack of desire for sexual acts.
