The articles on CINHAL Plus with full text and Academic Search Complete are peer reviewed, written and edited by professionals, for health care professions, and not for the lay person (Schmidt & Brown, 2012). The articles were specific to the key words entered. With the medical terminology used, these articles would be very difficult for a lay person to read. When I searched using Google I came up with thousands of results. Many of the suggestions were not at all what I intended and some just gave abstracts and not full texts. Not all of these websites were from a credible source or written by credentialed authors. I would advise the lay person to be cautious on which sites they visit. Wikipedia and WebMD are very popular sites by non-clinical individuals and patients should be reminded these are not reputable sites. CDC statistics report that in 2006 73.9% of women breastfed in the early postpartum period.
