RESEARCH PLAN

I - Proposed Research Topic: Anti-paw edema property of Lupeol extracted from (Capsicum annuum var. longum) Siling Haba fruit against Streptococcus pyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. II - Proponents:

Ariane Joy C. Listanco
Alyssa Mae C. Eguia
Beatrice Ann P. Sablay
Ashley L. Quebrado
Alexis R. Redondo
Raffy A. Wamar

III - Background of the Study:

In this study, we sought to know the effectiveness of the anti-paw edema property of Lupeol on
Streptococcus pyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We will investigate the effects of
Lupeol on the organisms in different concentration. There will be three replicates for every trial in order to have an accurate answer. Nonetheless, the extraction of the Lupeol from capsicum is to be done by laboratories available. The researchers were the one that will extract the Lupeol from Siling Haba with the aid of acid that came from an apple. The researchers want to expand the study and employments of Siling Haba for cooking purposes as well as for its therapeutic employments. Siling mahaba, siling haba, (long chili), siling pangsigang (chili for sinigang), siling
Tagalog (Tagalog chili), and sometimes called finger chili, is one of two common kinds of native chili found in the Philippines, the other being siling labuyo. The siling mahaba fruit grows to

between five and seven centimeters long, and is bright light green in color. While of moderate spiciness, it is much milder and less hot than siling labuyo.
It is an ingredient commonly used in Philippine cuisine, spicing up dishes like sinigang, dinuguan, pinangat, kilawin, paksiw, and sisig. This type of specie is not commonly used in research studies. So the researchers have decided to use this variable to expand the study for this certain species.

In this study, we tried to know the adequacy of the opposition to paw edema property of Lupeol on Streptococcus pyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We will examine the impacts of
Lupeol on the organic entities in distinctive focus. There will be three repeats for every trial keeping in mind the end goal to have an exact answer. Nonetheless, the extraction of the Lupeol from capsicum is to be carried out by research centers accessible. The analysts were the particular case that will extricate the Lupeol from Siling Haba with the help of corrosive that originated from an apple. The analysts need to grow the study and employments of Siling Haba for cooking purposes as well as for its therapeutic employments.

Siling mahaba, siling haba, (long stew), siling pangsigang (bean stew for sinigang), siling
(Tagalog stew), and once in a while called finger bean stew, is one of two regular sorts of local bean stew found in the Philippines, the other being siling labuyo. The siling mahaba organic product develops to somewhere around five and seven centimeters in length, and is splendid light green in shading. While of moderate fieriness, it is much milder and less hot than siling labuyo. It is a fixing normally utilized as a part of Philippine cooking, spicing up dishes like sinigang, dinuguan, pinangat, kilawin, paksiw, and sisig. This kind of specie is not generally utilized as a part of examination studies. So the analysts have chosen to utilize this variable to grow the study for this certain species.
IV - Research Objectives:

This study aims to determine the Anti-paw edema property of Lupeol extracted from
Capsicum annuum var. longum (Green Chili) fruit against Streptococcus pyogenes and
Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

The goal of this study is to demonstrate its effectiveness against Streptococcus pyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

To extract the Lupeol from Capsicum annuum var. longum) (Green Chili) fruit.

It aims to help the society by giving uses of the things that was not commonly used.

 Green Chili depending on the number you want to use
 Laboratory mice
 Syringe

VI – Methodology

A. Methodological Framework
Anti-paw edema property of Lupeol extracted from Capsicum annuum var. longum (green chili) fruit against Streptococcus pyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Culturing of Streptococcus pyogenes and
Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Conduct of the experiment.

Keen observation.
Infecting the mice through exposing by Streptococcus pyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Extraction of Lupeol from Capsicum annuum var. longum (green chili).

Injecting the extracted Lupeol to the mice.

B. Research Methodology

Data collection.
Analyzation of the data. In conducting this experiment, the researchers will require to utilize several materials.
Two microorganisms which are staphylococcus aureus and salmonella typhimurium will require to at least have three trials in the two microorganisms respectively depending on how many level of concentration of the Lupeol to be applied. There is also a need for the extraction of
Lupeol coming from Capsicum annuum var. longum (green chili) for the direct application in the microorganisms. C. Research Procedure

Culturing
The researchers must choose at least two microorganisms to culture in three different trials.
With the microorganisms selected, identify the type of culture media needed. Decide whether it will be tested on organisms such as mice and etc.
Extraction
With the chosen laboratory support, the researchers will be required to have three test tubes containing the different level of concentration of Lupeol extracted from Capsicum annuum var. longum (green chili). In extracting the Lupeol the procedure for working on it must be chosen by the researchers.
Application
Once the culture and extraction has been made, the researchers will now conduct the experiment by exposing the microorganisms to laboratory mice and injecting it with the extracted Lupeol.
Observation
After conducting the experiment, there will be needing a keen observation to the two microorganisms to see the effect of the anti-paw edema property of Lupeol to the laboratory mice. Data Collection

After determining the effect of the anti-paw edema property of Lupeol from Capsicum annuum var. longum (green chili) on mice that being infected by those selected microorganisms, the researchers must gather all the data needed for the analyzation of the study. Lastly, an accurate outcome should be presented and the result should be validated.

VII - Background Literature/Studies
Capsaicin
All chili peppers, including green chilis, contain capsaicin, the compound that is responsible for the spicy sensation associated with eating a hot pepper. The spicier the pepper is, the more capsaicin it contains. The Scoville Heat Unit scale, which measures capsaicin content from 0 to
15,000,000 Scoville Heat Units, or SHUs, of pure capsaicin, places green chilis between 500 and 2,500 SHUs. The American Institute for Cancer Research reports that eating rich capsaicin sources like green chili peppers may help inhibit the growth of cancer cells, though more research is needed.
Green chilis are immature chili peppers, most often Pasilla, Anaheim or Poblano peppers that have been harvested before fully ripening. Not as spicy as red chili peppers, they are available raw, canned or pickled and are a common addition to traditional Hispanic dishes ranging from soups to snacks. Green chilis are low in calories, virtually fat-free and rich in nutrients that can enhance your health, including vitamins A, C and K and the phytonutrient capsaicin. If you have a chronic digestive disorder like irritable bowel syndrome or heartburn, however, spicy foods like chilis may exacerbate the symptoms.

Lupeol has a complex pharmacology, displaying antiprotozoal, antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, antitumor and chemopreventive properties.
Animal models suggest lupeol may act as an anti-inflammatory agent. A 1998 study found lupeol to decrease paw swelling in rats by 39%, compared to 35% for the standardized control compound indomethacin.
One study has also found some activity as a Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor and prolyl oligopeptidase inhibitor at high concentrations (in the millimolar range).
It is an effective inhibitor in laboratory models of prostate and skin cancers.
As an anti-inflammatory agent, lupeol functions primarily on the interleukin system. Lupeol to decreases IL-4 (interleukin 4) production by T-helper type 2 cells.

...Stress Management and Academic Performance Kebeh Beyan Walden University Introduction Stress has become universal in the lives of several individuals, and stress has been found to deeply affect creatively, performance, mental health, physical welfare, and even the decision making as well as affect biological systems of individuals (Yehuda & Olff, 2012). Research shows that burnout especially emotional fatigue and resilience were significant forecasters of academic performance. The authors also mentioned that students who were emotionally and cognitively involved in their studies seem to perform better than students who reported being emotionally more exhausted (Kotze & Kleynhans, 2013). This study will focus on whether and to what extent social supports, cognitive assessments, and coping skills affects the management of stress and academic performance of college students. In other to determine the effects of the above issues, the involvements of the students in stressful circumstances must be understood. For this study a survey design will be use to get a cross-section of the particular involvements of all students in stressful situations and to find out to what degree their stress management skills is affected by coping skills, cognitive assessments, and social supports. ...Draft of Abbreviated Quantitative Research Plan John Gonzales (RSCH - 8100Y - 2) Dr. Medha Talpade April 27, 2014 Introduction Stress is any physical or natural force that if not controlled, can bring severe mental distress to an individual. Stress can be a natural part of life that allows the individual to learn and mature. If stress is left unattended, major problems will occur. If a stress is ignored, an individual will lose their ability to function. If the response to stress is deficient or if the stress itself is overwhelming, sickness or death will occur (Stress. 2014). The purpose of this study is to determine how well an individual can manage stress and to what extent coping skills control stress. Stress has become a way of life. Stress and its deleterious effects have become widespread. Coping measures are exceedingly important in managing the effects of severe stress. This study will be able to substantially supplement past studies and add additional data to the stockpile of medical knowledge. The object of this study will be to discover at what point do personal coping skills lose their effectiveness and the impact of injurious stress threaten a person’s well being (Marnocha, 2003). Purpose Statement The purpose of this quantitative study is to determine the degree to which individuals have to undergo stress before coping skills break down and the barriers to injurious stress that threatens a person’s well-being. The ability to manage stress...

Three Abreviated Research Plan

...Three Abbreviated Research Plans Introduction This paper demonstrates research methods that are used in investigations of health disparities in the United States. Research is a process of investigating concepts and theories that will contribute to a scientific body of knowledge. When presented with a problem, researchers or healthcare specialist can use a quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods approach to solutions or explore avenues that might improve health, health outcomes and health services (Bowling, 2002). As health disparities grow in the United States and research is ongoing, three abbreviated research plans are presented as probable solutions to this concern targeting communities and populations that are underserved. Comparison and Evaluation of Strengths and Limitations of Research Methods Used in These Abbreviated Plans Research is an organized investigation to explain, describe, and control an observed phenomenon that involves inductive and deductive methods. Researchers will use a quantitative research design to verify that the research method used is valid and will produce accurate scientific results (Vidgen, n.d.). The strengths involved in using the quantitative research method can test and validate theories that have been already formed about why and how phenomena occur. Quantitative research allows the researcher to measure and analyze data that is précis which may help eliminate the influence of many variables and allow more reliable cause-and-effect...

Abbreviated Qualitative Research Plan

...Evidence of Quality in Qualitative Research Quality in qualitative research is an evolving concern as the pursuit of research as per qualitative methodology progresses. Thus to ensure that quality, trustworthiness, and credibility of my research data are of measured standard within the realm of research, a researcher needs to develop reflexive skills towards interrogating prevailing assumptions from the researcher’s perspective and critiquing self in order to eliminates personal influences and biases. However, this would be hinged on some fundamentals criteria that serves as a basis; thus, Tracy (2010) affirmed that eight key markers are associated with quality in qualitative research. These include worthy topic, rich rigor, sincerity, credibility, resonance, significant contribution, ethics, and meaningful coherence; exhibition of these attributes by a researcher would be a function of non-biases and actualization of a substantial level of reflection by researcher. Doing this would ensure that quality, trustworthiness, and credibility with regard to the research and data are actualized. Interview as a means of data collection may be occasioned by both internal and external factors that abound with the scope of the design of the research which may impact on the credibility and trustworthiness of the interview of mini-project. As per data collection during the interview stage, a researcher needs to remove all elements of distraction from the site of...

...Abbreviated Qualitative Research Plan Introduction Stress is the result of emotional, physical, social, economic, or other factors that require a change in one’s behavior, thought process, environment, or response. Robbins & Judge, (2008), defines stress as, “a dynamic condition in which one is confronted with an opportunity, constraint or demand related to what he wishes and for which the outcome is perceived to be both uncertain and important”. This definition can be broken down into three dimensions, as followed: 1) Environmental (stressors), 2) adaptive responses, and 3) individual differences Robbins et al. (2008). In essence, stress can be looked at from three different viewpoints; 1) Medical, 2) clinical, and 3) organization. Stress in the workplace has been recognized throughout the world in the workplace as a major challenge.
