I agree with the statement nations will eventually need to provide their own products because freight exporting will be too expensive. The problem is Countries with poor soil and with lack of natural resources will suffer severely. They will have to continue to pay the high shipping costs because that will be their only option; however, they will eventually become bankrupt. The countries will not be able to support their population. As a result, mass migrations could take place and other countries would overpopulate. To make matters worse, the increase in heat will make all forms of transportation unreliable and expensive. It’s unfortunate that the oil mitigation would take 20 years and 2.6 trillion dollars. This is definitely not appealing especially for world leaders especially with current economies. New research and testing will hopefully bring alternative fuel sources. Solar technology is expensive and does have a carbon imprint to be created but I could see development of panels and factories being green in the future. It’s interesting to find out the new Policies that will be employed soon since recent research reveals that Climate Change isn’t ‘pseudoscience’. The idea that climate change could cause the sea level to rise is daunting. I have never thought of the consequences from the rise in the Oceans water. Some cities could be swallowed whole and eventually end up like Atlantis. Also, complete ecosystems would disappear under the tides. The in depth analysis of the consequences of the tides ruining docks and ports was alarming. I like how the author concludes that it will take a while to reach ‘Globalization Peak’. Furthermore, I enjoyed how he ends optimistically. He searches concludes with alternatives and possible solutions. Most of the articles and research I have read regarding are pessimistic and leave you with a sense of hopelessness.
