Dear Sir/Madam:

Good Day!

I am Donica Jane T. Villar, a sophomore student taking Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) in University of Asia and the Pacific. I am currently enrolled in Understanding Media and its Content (COM20) and Business Communication (COM21) under Ms. Veronica Isla and Ms. Shirin Eugenio, respectively. Both subjects have a class of fifty students. This kind of situation may most likely affect a student’s learning. With a large number of students in a class, most of the students cannot concentrate because some might be making unnecessary noise and movements. The aforementioned scenarios will result to the destruction of a class. I am writing to propose unique, effective, yet fair ways to promote discipline and proper classroom behavior and the possible actions that can be taken to ensure unruly behavior is minimized in a large class. I came up with operative solutions and attainable actions to the aforementioned situations.

THE PROBLEM
In every educational institution, discipline is very important. Every class should have a proper atmosphere to attain knowledge and to enable the students focus on their schooling. Discipline is essential to an academic growth and class’s harmony and success. Without discipline, especially in a Communication class of fifty students, each individual is prone to disobedience, violence, and failure. Inculcating discipline in classes will help students focus better on their studies. It will also help the teachers concentrate better in class discussions since students will be paying attention and will be giving respect to their teachers. Also, if discipline is imposed among the students, there would be a balance with everything, be it with individual presentations, group works and group presentations, and class reports or discussions.

A large class has the potential to promote discipline, proper classroom behavior, and minimize unruly conduct if effective discipline policies that are appropriate for the students will be implemented.

PROPOSED SOLUTIONS
Before creating and implementing discipline policies, it is very important to know the students’ character, abilities, and behavior first. After the said factors are identified, each policy must be partnered with the right consequences and rewards. It is also crucial to explain clearly the discipline plans to the students. The following are the unique, effective, yet fair ways to promote discipline and proper classroom behavior, including the possible actions that can be taken to ensure that unruly behavior is minimized in a large class: A. “BiDa next ‘Ninoy!’”
The first discipline policy is entitled, “BiDa next ‘Ninoy’”. In this policy, if a teacher caught a student making unnecessary noise or if a student is late, the student is obliged to pay five hundred pesos (500 Php). The proceeds of this policy will be given to the Office of Admissions or to the Scholarship Committee to fund some of the university scholars’ necessities (books, food, and transportation fare).

B. “The Tale of the Two Ears and One Mouth”
In this policy, if a teacher did not hear any unnecessary noise from the class, she will give his/her students additional points to their quizzes or examinations. The teacher could also give any rewards she thinks that would be beneficial to his/her class.

C. “inDie film” In this discipline plan, the students will be asked to create a short film about discipline. This should be done by the end of the semester to know if the students gain something from the discipline policies that were established. This will also help the students to learn the true concept of discipline better. The short films should answer the following questions:
1. What is discipline?
2. Why is it important?
3. How does self-discipline contribute to academic growth and class’s success?

In conclusion, I think the proposed solutions would be a great benefit to our everyday class and to our school itself. With the unique, effective, yet fair solutions and actions, discipline and proper classroom behavior will be promoted. Because of that, students can concentrate and do better with their studies and respective careers.

I really hope that you will think about approving this proposal for the benefit of the many Integrated Marketing Communications students.

Thank you for the time you spent in reading my proposal.

Sincerely,

Donica Jane T. Villar

...RESEARCH PROPOSAL THE CONTENTS OF A RESEARCH PROPOSAL A research proposal is an overall plan, scheme, structure and strategy designed to obtain answers to the research questions or problems which constitute your research project. A research proposal should outline the various tasks that you plan to undertake to fulfil your research objectives, test hypotheses or obtain answers to your research questions. It also should state your reasons for undertaking the study. Broadly a research proposal’s two main functions are to: * Outline the operational plan for obtaining answers to your research questions * Specify and ensure the methodology for control of variance. (This is a technical function and is important for those studies that are designed to investigate a causal relationship.) In order to achieve its first function, a research proposal must tell you, your research supervisor and a reviewer: * What you are proposing to do * How you plan to proceed * Why you selected the proposed strategy Therefore it should contain: * A statement of the objectives of the study * A list of hypotheses. If you are testing any * The research design which you are proposing to use * The setting for your study * The research instrument(s) that you are planning to use * Information on sample size and sampling design * Information on data processing procedures * An outline of the proposed chapters from the report * The study’s...

Framing research hypotheses and or research questions to investigate or guide the study; 7. Determine the method of investigation 8. Outline the research design 9. Define the Sample size and the characteristics of the proposed sample; 10. Describe the procedures to follow for data collection and data analyses. Determine a General Topic The first step in writing an academic research proposal is to idenitfy a general topic or subject area to investigate. Usually this first point is the easiest because the research proposal will be tied to the overall theme of a course. In such a case, the the general subject for investigation is normally determined by a professor who is leading the class, the school's department chair, or academic advisory committee. Attrition and Retention

...The existence of a national and perhaps global nursing shortage is clearly understood and continues to threaten healthcare practice, policy, and patient outcomes. A fundamental and largely misunderstood hemorrhage within the professional nursing pipeline is the significant student nurse retention and attrition rates reported by associate and baccalaureate schools of nursing. In a 2005 study by the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, attrition from associate degree nursing programs is approximately 22%. A Canadian study of baccalaureate nursing programs finds and reports an alarming attrition rate of between 20% and 40% (Bolan and Grainger, 2005). The retention of students in nursing programs continues to be a major challenge for nurse educators and deans of nursing programs (Wells, 2003). Taylor (2005) reports the issue of student attrition is maintaining a high profile across the higher education sector and is a key concern for those delivering nurse education. In as much as it is impossible to bear quality fruit without plentiful and quality seeds, it is impossible to cultivate and educate student nurses if attrition and retention are not checked. If the desire for American healthcare is to remain the strongest and most competent in the world we must understand, explore and remedy the mitigating factors driving the student nurse attrition rate. Purpose Statement The purpose of this research study is to determine the relationship between undergraduate...

...the performance of public universities, as well as an increase in the demands of the various users of these services have resulted in a concern to improve the quality of teaching, research and all services that a university provides (Capelleras & Veciana, 2001). Higher education is increasingly recognized as a service industry, placing greater emphasis on meeting the expectations and needs of its participating customers, who are the students. According to Astin (1993), just like any form of business, factors related to satisfaction levels and students’ perceptions of quality will attract and retain students. Satisfaction is defined as being a consequence of the expectations and experiences of the subject and/or course.  In academic settings, students’ satisfaction data helps colleges and universities make their curriculum more responsive to the needs of a changing marketplace (Eyck, Tews & Ballester, 2009; Witowski, 2008). Students’ satisfaction surveys are important in ascertaining whether colleges and universities are fulfilling their mission....
