...By the end of this short introduction, I hope that some of my personality would have been able to shine through. I want to show you that I am ready to take the next step in my education after secondary school and to me that is studying at Christ the King Sixth Form College. I would describe myself as a person with a lot of integrity and a willingness to go the extra mile to reach a certain goal. I previously studied my GCSE’s in Harris Peckham. Academically I believe that the school was very capable and one lesson that, that school has taught me is that responsibility and reliability were very important traits to have when representing a school. In my free time, I enjoy going out, socialising and reconnecting with previous and new found friends. I am currently living with my single mother and younger brother in a council flat. The main goal I wish to achieve by the end of the year is to perhaps gain as much knowledge as possible in my chosen subjects for preparation for the exams also, making as much friends as possible is a must for me, as not many students from my previous school enrolled to this sixth form. Some obstacles that may possibly draw me back from academic achievement this year include procrastinating, not being able to find common ground with teachers, staff members and my fellow classmates and being mildly depressed. Being able to keep on board with tasks, keeping up with set homework and prep work and maintaining a positive mind-set will allow me guaranteed success...

...The effectiveness of the brand name Lactaid versus CVS dairy relief brand in breaking down lactose in whole milk. Methods and Materials The following protocol was implemented in order to indirectly measure glucose levels after the brand name “Lactaid” or “CVS” store brand lactase was added to a sample of 100 % whole milk. Milligrams per deciliter of glucose is the dependent variable, independent variable include Lactaid caplets versus CVS pharmacy brand caplets. 100 % whole milk, amount of milk and temperature were used for control variables. Materials necessary for this experiment were a glucose sensing device not to be confused with a diabetic glucometer, glucose liquid test strips, wall thermometer, three oral thermometers, original strength Lactaid-120 caplets-3000 FCC lactase units, original strength CVS Dairy relief-120 caplets, 3000 FCC lactase units and three 200 ml beakers. Some items were borrowed from the school laboratory and others were purchased from a “CVS” pharmacy. The milk was kept refrigerated prior to testing. Three beakers contained 150 mL of 100 % whole pasteurized milk. Prior to adding the store brand lactase and Lactaid enzymes, the milk was allowed to reach room temperature by setting the milk on a table for thirty minutes. Room temperature was approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit and the air did not feel hot nor cold. The temperature was taken at the time the milk was poured and again at the 30 minute mark. Thermometers were cleaned using dish soap and...

...the experience of preparing a formal CV (“course of life”), you are already familiar with its function and the type of information needed from your applications for employment, college, or for that matter, medical school. Indeed, one of the primary functions of a CV is to provide a succinct chronicle of your past experiences and training. In a sense, a CV is a multi-purpose, personal application form for employment, educational opportunities, honors and awards, membership or participation in an organization. Learning to prepare a good CV now will aid you throughout your professional life. It is a living, not a static, document that needs to be continually updated as new experiences or accomplishments are completed. Despite its multiple purposes, your CV must be restructured and rewritten, or at least reviewed, for each specific purpose for which it is to be used. It might be entirely inappropriate to include a lengthy list of publications in a CV you are submitting as application for membership in a volunteer organization. On the other hand, it might be imperative to include this information, if not in the body, at least as an appendix, in a CV you are submitting to obtain an academic position. Some experts recommend maintaining two versions of your CV--one, a short summary of your training and experience and the other, a longer version with more detailed information about your publications and presentations. In general, however, no CV should be lengthy. No matter how many...

...In the following paragraphs I have prepared my results of the mean average income, population of urban customers to total customers, number of years customers have lived in their current homes, and average customers credit balance. The first variable I will discuss is the likelihood the average income is less than $50,000. After looking at the sample of the customers I have discovered that the average annual income falls between $39,680 and $47,800. When it was tested further we have strong evidence that the average income for all customers is less than $50,000. The second variable I will discuss is the whether the percentage of urban customers is more than 40%. Initial testing revealed that the percentage of urban customers falls between 30 and 57%. Further testing revealed that we have strong evidence that the percentage of urban customers is greater than 40%. The third variable to be discussed is whether the average years a customer has lived at their current residence is less than 13 years. The mean years a customer has lived at their current residence is between 11 and 14 years. Based on some further testing there is strong evidence that the average number of years is more than 13 years. The fourth and final variable to be discussed is whether the average credit balance for customers is more than $4,300. The average credit balance for customers is between $3,712 and $4,228. Based on the averages we have strong evidence that the average credit balance is not more than...

...Chapter One Introdution: Fundamentals of Business Writing I. The major differences between school writing and business writing School writing, typically in the form of essays, is aimed at impressing the audience, i.e. examiners. To score high, student writers have to use fairly complicated vocabulary and sentences in their written work. Business writers, however, mainly aim to communicate information to their colleagues, clients, and other associated parties. They are relatively free to use what language that can get the business done efficiently and effectively. II. Seven steps in the process of wring 1. clarifying your aim 2. identifying your readers 3. making a general plan 4. sketching a synopsis (大纲) 5. drafting your text 6. putting the draft aside 7. revising and editing ★ Writing is a recursive and creative process. The detailed plan is not adhered to in actual writing. Writers frequently come up with ideas that are activated in the process of writing. Writers read the text they have already produced to help generate more ideas. In effect, the writing process is no linear at all but is characterized by recursive ness and creativeness. III. Three principles of business writing 1. Clarity – means setting your message across clearly. (See detailed information on page 4) 2. Consideration – good business writers take their readers’ needs, problems, and reactions to the writing into consideration. And they...

...Question 1 # sold | P(x) | 0 | 0.1 | 1 | 0.11 | 2 | 0.2 | 3 | 0.23 | 4 | 0.3 | 5 | 0.06 | Question 2: The average rate of occurrence of accidents was 8.15 per week. A) during that time, what is the probability of getting less than 3 accidents a week? Use poisson for this question. Since it is less that 3 accidents, x = 0,1,2 (Px=o) = [(8.15^0) (e^8.15)] / 0! = 0.00288735. (Px=1) = [(8.15^1) (e^8.15)] / 1! = 0.002353193. (Px=2) = [(8.15^2) (e^8.15)] / 2! = 0.009589362. Add all these results together, and p(x<3) is 0.01223119. B) The probability if an accident on the road is 0.295. Out of 10 reportable accidents, what is the probability that 2 occurred on the road? Use Binomial for this. Since it is exactly 2, we need to find P(x=2). Use the binomial formula, n = 10, x = 2, p = 0.295, and q is 0.705. = 10!/2!(10-2)! * 0.205 ^2 * q^ 10-2. Answer is 0.23898436. Question 3: 15% of drivers have a probationary license and 85% have a regular license. In a given year, 10% of drivers with probationary licenses are involved in an accident. 2.5% of regular drivers are involved in an accident. For this question it is better to draw a tree diagram. Question 4: Mean values for income for men are 100K, for woman, 80K. SD deviations of 20K and 15K respectively. Variables are normally distributed and independent. Calculate the 95th percentile, for men income. 95th p = 0.95. In the zscore table, we find a value of 1.64. Us e the formula for z-score (population) : 1...

Of all the patients, 59 were screened positive and the remaining 356 were screened negative. 24 of those that screened positive had Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) performed.
