Thank you for your help with implementing Sanford Harmony in our classroom. We are working toward the important goal of creating a positive classroom community, where all students feel comfortable, valued, and connected to their peers. In our first unit, Diversity and Inclusion, students have been getting to know one another, and identifying the things they have in common. They enjoyed the activities, and were surprised at how much they had in common with their peers!
Tomorrow, we will begin our third activity, Learn Something New. The goal of this activity is to help students recognize the benefits of interacting with and learning from peers who are different from them.
During this lesson, students decide on a skill or concept to teach another student. Tonight for homework, I asked your child to brainstorm ideas for what he/she would like to teach his/her partner. Your child needs to think of three or four ideas and record them on the brainstorming worksheet. Students understand that the activity must be something that can be demonstrated …show more content…

ACCES is operated through the university's School of Social and Family Dynamics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and is made up of scholars and citizens from across the United States who are focused on children, education, families and communities. The Sanford Harmony Program is a research and curriculum initiative also operated through the school, and funded by philanthropist T. Denny Sanford, that is working to understand and enhance relationships among girls and boys. While teaching in single-sex schools and classrooms has become increasingly popular in recent years, there is little scientific evidence that shows teaching boys and girls in separate public school classrooms is advantageous over teaching in coed classes, said Richard Fabes, professor and director of the School of Social and Family Dynamics and ACCES director of operations. In fact, there is evidence, according to Fabes, that single-sex classes can be detrimental - for instance, the more time that male and female students spend apart, the more the stereotypes about the sexes are reinforced. Workgroup Salary Dispersion and Turnover Intention in China

...dispersion research to the Chinese context by examining the cross-level relationship between workgroup salary dispersion and employee turnover intention contingent on individual differences. Field survey data including annual objective salary and self-reported attitudes among 370 Chinese employees in 51 organizational workgroups supported our cultural predictions by showing that the relationship between workgroup salary dispersion and turnover intention was positive only among employees with higher rather than lower levels of Chinese traditionality and among those with lower rather than higher salary levels. Furthermore, the results of mediated moderation analyses suggest that a dual-deprivation path model can explain the above relationships.
