When it comes to racially charged language, it really all depends on the context. People know what kind of comedy they expect when they see a certain comedian. Most people would give Maher a pass because he is well known for his liberal politics. Still I understand why people would get offended. If the African-American community finds it offensive then Maher has to understand that, he cannot say what black people can or cannot be offended over.
