In the Iliad, the characters Sarpedon and Achilles offer two different ideas on how one should live their life. Both fight with the concept of mortality and quality of life as they come to their conclusions of how they should carry themselves. Achilles believes that because life is so precious, that fighting for someone else’s glory or possessions is pointless. He would rather go home and live without glory with his father than win glory by fighting for Agamemnon. Sarpedon, on the other hand, believes that since is life finite, one should go out and win glory and fame for themselves.
