Alex tells his story in Nadsat, a language exclusive to the teenagers of his town. Apart from the immediate address to the age group, the word Nadsat is also a suffix attached to the Russian numbers through eleven to nineteen, roughly equivalent to the English word 'teen'. Most of the words in Alex's vocabulary are based on Russian, French, German, Latin, Japanese and Gypsy language.
