Well, first of all before we have a plan, we must consider what our goal or objective. We need to remember that we are able to set short-term goal that help us achieve our over-all or long-term goal, by setting short-term goals this helps us by the way of steps that helps make the goal seem achievable. Some times managers tend to just get down to business and not think about formulating a plan, because of time restraints that might push out deadlines. When I walk into a task that is being ask of me to deal with I will usually look at what needs to be done before actually doing the work, thus formulating a plan in which to accomplish the objective. Some supervisors found this as a means to drag out doing the work thinking I didn’t know what …show more content…
With every day that passes new and more efficient ways become available as this happens top managers must decide if they want to invest in new technology, not knowing if it will work in their everyday operations. Middle managers should be thinking ahead at least one month to approximately 1 year ahead. These managers focus more on how to improve on items such as scheduling and sequencing operations, in addition to having or practicing better control at the lower levels. Supervisors don’t think that far ahead they look ahead anywhere from one day to six months ahead. Supervisors handle day to day business and work directly with non-management employees who do the everyday operations, further more they decide on how to achieve performance objectives. Also, when new policies or even new methods of doing work it is the supervisor that must implement these. Supervisors must also think about how to increase efficiency, such as that of quality, cost, and in some cases safety. One must have a goal, be it a short or long term as they are a major key in any part of management or company, as this states what needs to be accomplished. Keep in mind that in order to obtain the objective there might be steps or sequencing, for example building a building, one can’t start with the roof first it just won’t stand, foundations must always come first and then so on. I was told by one of our project directors that there are four areas on which we must focus on first was safety, as safety plays a major part in companies, then we focus on quality and the means that we deliver it to our customers, and then schedule the means on how we complete the objective in a timely manner, and last but not least cost in order for a company to be profitable cost must be
