...Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles. Domestic Drones are drones that are used by government agencies and commercial companies. They operate like homeland security drones and law enforcement drones. They can be highly weaponized. Within the next decade, the Federal Aviation Administration will enact a law that regulates UAVs. The government should regulate drones that are on government property and other state regulated sites. One of the main reasons for this is public safety. The uses of drones can invade private property and space. Drones are being used for law enforcement purposes, but will be regulated if the FAA enacts a law. Public safety is a major reason for the laws and regulations that the FAA makes. The FAA was established after two planes collided in mid-air, killing 128 people. “The FAA said its mission was safety” (Berry). The FAA is focusing all of their resources and time to improve safety of the aeronautics industry then why are they making the slowest decision about this. “A study by the European Aviation Safety Agency warns that if the current accident rate suffered by remotely piloted aerial systems (RPAS) – or drones – remained unchanged the spike in collision rates between drones and manned aircraft would be ‘unacceptable.’”(Turner). Europe would have a 400% increase in life threatening crashes if the accident-prone technology was allowed to operate in its airspace. If that same thing were to occur in the U.S, then the FAA would have to create laws to prevent...

...Recreational drones have become one of the top public safety and security concerns of this day in age. Recreational drones are a harmful pest to the general public and could watch, or harm someone even if it is just and accident. Drones are not safe and can be used against their users and the innocent bystanders near the drone, as well as risk their security, in this case they should have their use restricted to a specific point. Recreational drones can incite large amounts of panic in a public area if given the chance, or if something was to malfunction in the drone itself. All drones that are active are connected to either a smartphone, other smart device, or a controller....

...Outline Structure I. Introduction A. Thesis: The use of drone strike’s is morally and ethically sound based on evidence that shows drone warfare saves American lives, are just as accurate as conventional air strikes, and save tax payers millions of dollars. II. Body Paragraph 1: The use of drone strikes has enabled the United States to neutralize thousands of terrorist targets without direct threat to American lives. B. Supporting evidence: 1. Explanation: You cannot put a dollar amount on a human life, however a U.S. military pilot has millions of dollars of training invested in them and the aircraft to make combat aviation safe. Look at the F-35 program for example it is highly experimental and has costed 1.5 Trillion Dollars. The most advanced drones such as the X-47B have only cost the United States 900 million dollars to develop and deploy due to the removal of the human element from flying the aircraft. 2. So what? If you look at all the aircraft crashes over the past decade they have killed 277 Americans. If you would have had drones in those combat areas versus manned aircraft those are 277 lives that could have been saved along with hundreds of millions of dollars in death benefits, lost training, and the cost of the aircraft. III. Body Paragraph 2: Topic sentence goes here. C. Supporting evidence 3. Explanation 4. So what? D. Supporting evidence 5. Explanation ...

...Introduction The term “drone” covers a wide variety of unmanned aerial vehicles. Drones range in size from one pound to 30,000 pounds. Various components can be added to a drone to increase its capability. Drones can be heat-seeking or capable of detecting certain chemicals, for example. Because of the variety of functions of drones, there is a great deal of interest in both public and private sectors in expanding drone usage. As drone use evolves in the United States, there are many legal ramifications to consider. This paper discusses current drone use, the future of drones, and the legal issues involved. Government Drone Use Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have shifted the defense landscape not only in the US but also across various other nations. It is an additional layer of defense strategy that deviates from the traditional methods employed thus far. Although they may be used in strategically planned strikes, their primary purpose is in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). The US amongst other countries has been spearheading the advancement and use of this growing technology for the last decade. The Department of Defense operates approximately 8000 of these vehicles in their fleet. The use of drones by the US department of Defense is only one arm of the several other that is operated by the government. Customs and Border Protection Agency, Homeland Security, State fire departments and police departments are other significant users of this...

...Development Projects TC American Public University System Google Research and Development Projects Google has an arm of their company called Project X that is tasked with researching and developing new and evolving technologies. When many people think about Google they simply think of the company as a search engine and web mail hosting company. The fact is that Google excels in those areas but is also on the forefront of new technologies that have the potential to change how people drive, how internet services are deployed in remote areas, how home environmental systems are controlled and how internet orders are delivered (ExtremeTech, 2015). In particular, Google’s self-driving car, DeepMind artificial intelligence, Project Wing drone, Project Loon balloon internet and Nest home automation technologies show promise to improve the quality of life for many in the world. Google’s research and development mission is to consolidate information from across the world from many sources and then make that data both useful and available to all internet users (Spector, Norvig & Petrov, 2015). Additionally, Google uses the technology to improve existing goods and services as well as improving the environment through clean energy initiatives. Google as a company is focused on rapidly developing and implementing new technology in all areas but the research but the research and development arm is hyper-focused on technology innovation (Research.google.com, 2015). Current generations of UAVs “can be as small as an insect or as large as a charter flight”. They can be launched from a road or a small vehicle, but are often large enough to accommodate cameras, sensors or other information gathering equipment. Recently, discussions of UAVs have shifted most of the attention toward the ethical, legal and privacy implications that UAVs have, on society in global and domestic level. Overview Definition ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- There are many various terms used to identify these unmanned vehicles to which by its definition are that of a craft without a human pilot within. The most commonly accepted term would be UAV ( unmanned aerial vehicles); the US military much prefer...

Technology can be used for all types of things, from science applications to mechanical engineering. Changing the way something is done often improves it. This is the heart of technology. Technology has evolved into nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is a “technology executed on the scale of less than 100 nanometers, the goal of which is to control individual atoms and molecules, especially to computer chips and other microscopic devices.” Nanotechnology may one day improve the quality of life, thereby extending the life span of humans, by using “small autonomous robot, or nanobot, that can be sent into the human body to repair cells and cure cancers.” (nanotechnology). It is the continued advancement in nanotechnology that has been used to downsize the combative drones that we associate...

...In my opinion computers and technology is the wave of the future. Other people want everything simple. Computers solve complex problems. Computers also connect us though the internet and connect us world wide We use computers in our everyday life. My first point is Supercomputers have become a critical tool for analyzing Complex problems like climate change. And Counting: to solve mathematic problems - Navigation and astronomy Weather prediction. The computer was created to perform mathematical computations automatically and was Intended to be useful in a number of areas. It wasn't invented to solve any specific problem, but was conceived a a tool that could be developed to be useful in a number of areas. The original computers were slower than Humans at performing calculations, but the fact that something could now do them automatically was a Breakthrough in itself. Through time, the speed of computers has increased dramatically and their size has diminished. My second point is This is how the internet works The first thing your browser has to do is to establish a network connection to the machine where the document lives. To do that, it first has to find the network location of the host www.tldp.org (‘host’ is short for ‘host machine’ or ‘network host'; www.tldp.org is a typical hostname). The corresponding location is actually a number called an IP address To do this, your browser queries a program called a name server. The name server may live on your machine, but...

...in a blue state, I had the stereotype that militias were made of crazies … and so the “right to bear arms” as part of a “well-regulated militia” seemed like a nutty anachronism. And I have long been deeply influenced by leading voices for non-violence, such as Gandhi and King. So – Until recently – I was pro gun-control. As such, I understand that gun control arguments very well. Gandhi and the Dalai Lama Were AGAINST Gun Control I was surprised to learn that two of the best-known promoters of nonviolence in history were not opposed to guns. Indeed, Mahatma Gandhi taught that we must first be brave enough to use guns to defend ourselves, and only then can we be qualified to use non-violent methods. For example, Gandhi wrote in his book, An Autobiography (page 446): Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest … if we want to learn the use of arms, here is a golden opportunity. As Gandhi wrote in Doctrine of the Sword: I do believe that where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence I would advise violence. *** When my eldest son asked me what he should have done, had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908, whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defended me, I told him that it was his duty to defend me even...

...SECURITY RESEARCH PAPER A PERSPECTIVE ON TERRORISM Piers Hutt piershutt@hotmail.com 1 March 2015 A PERSPECTIVE ON TERRORISM ABSTRACT Purpose: To critically examine the threat of modern terrorism to Western society. Design/methodology: An assessment was made of publically available documentation. The paper is then divided into a number of sections. It initially deals with the difficulties of defining terrorism, followed by its symbiotic relationship with the media. The next section looks at the modern Islamic Fundamentalist threat and the primarily neocon response since 9/11. Whilst the US has withdrawn combat forces from Iraq and Afghanistan, a bipartisan approach has been maintained to counterterrorism. The dangers of such an approach are examined along with emerging threats. Table of Contents * Abstract * Introduction * Define * Role of the Media * Psychology * Modern Terrorism * The Response * Counterview – The Dangers * Looking Ahead – The Next Potential Threats * Another Approach * Conclusion INTRODUCTION “Terrorism has become part of our daily news diet. Hardly a day goes by without news of an assassination, political kidnapping, hijacking or bombing somewhere in the world. As such, incidents of terrorism have increased in the past decade, the phenomenon of terrorism has become one of increasing concern to governments....” Introduction. With the recent high profile terrorist attacks in Sydney...

...Debate: http://www.debate.org/opinions/should-guns-be-banned-in-america Pro: Why Guns Should Be Banned in the U.S. Kevin Ngo Opinion Editor February 20, 2013 Filed under Opinion If guns make us safer, America should be the safest place on earth. We have more guns per capita than any other place in the world, but we are clearly not the safest country on earth. Guns have brought nothing to Americans except harm and heartbreak. It is unfortunate that a tragedy, such as the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, has to occur in order for anything to be done to place a ban on guns. President Obama has proposed a plan to have thorough background checks on those who purchase guns, and prohibit the purchase of armor piercing bullets, along with magazines with a capacity larger than ten bullets. The National Rifle Association believes that their rights are being taken away completely, but this isn’t true. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” A more modern interpretation is required. That, like the First Amendment, the freedom of speech and press, is not an absolute right. There is also a key portion of the amendment that states, “In well regulated militia.” Any assualt-type weapon, regardless of whether it’s for hunting or not, needs to be banned, along with large capacity magazines. An assault-type weapon...

...Assignment 1: Apple Analysis: Corporate Responsibility and Marketing Strategies BUS 508 – Contemporary Business Strayer University Provide a Brief Description of Apple Corporation. Apple Inc. started on April 1, 1976 by Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs. They had both been interested in electronics and both worked for technical firms in Silicon Valley. After Steven Wozniak came up with a design for a computer, Jobs thought of ways to market this new design. This begins the long dynasty of Apple Computers. Apple Inc. is now an American corporation that designs, develops, and sells computer electrons, software and personal computers. It is the second largest technology company worldwide. Examine Apple’s position on ethical and social responsibilities and determine if they have met these responsibilities. Provide two reasons that support your position. Apple Inc. like most companies has become more socially responsible regarding the environment and it workers. They are concern for society’s welfare and all their workers according to their Code of Ethics. Apple is geared to build not just better products, but smaller, thinner and lighter, which means less carbon dioxide emission. Apple engineers ensure all their products are as energy efficient as possible, receiving an ENERGY STAR certified rating. This means money saved by the consumer and less emissions in the environment, which is a win-win situation for us all. Apple also recycles in 95% of the cities they retail...

I’m going to introduce amazon and what the company is about and the role they played as more then successful online retailer. Then introduce the topic of taxes and state taxes, sales tax, and the importance collecting and paying taxes, and the benefits the country and its residents get for paying such taxes. The amazon company will then be analyze and in operating structure and design and learn how they avoided paying taxes in their home country and how they brought their operation over seas and did the same. And why this topic and subject matter is and should be severely important for future business owners and managers on business structuring operations. Part I: Amazon Amazon is the largest online retailer as of 2014. And how did they accomplish this? Jeff Bezo is the founder and amazon.com and it all started in his garage in the state Washington. Amazon first started off as an online bookstore and soon began to venture off to selling CD’s, DVD’s, and computer software. I’m currently an Amazon user and I use it from buying everything from schoolbooks to DVD’s to watch purchases. Why do I use Amazon.com? Amazon seems to have better prices then the regular store outlets. How does amazon accomplish this? First they have no overhead, they are completely based online and therefore...

...Intelligence for the Twenty-First Century ALAN DUPONT Strategic discourse over the past decade has been dominated by a debate over the nature of future warfare and whether or not there is a ‘revolution in military affairs’ (RMA). Supporters contend that developments in military technology, especially precision guidance and high-speed data processing, in conjunction with advances in doctrine and strategy, will fundamentally transform the way in which future wars will be fought and privilege RMAcapable forces in the contest to achieve battlefield dominance.1 Sceptics, on the other hand, regard the RMA as being more evolutionary than revolutionary, and argue that many of the technical advances associated with the RMA do not necessarily presage a paradigm shift in warfare.2 However, all agree that timely, accurate and useable intelligence will be critical to the successful conduct of war in the twenty-first century, perhaps more so than in any previous era. It is surprising, therefore, how little academic attention has been devoted to the changes that are taking place in the technology, management and integration of the intelligence systems that will underpin any RMA. It is the contention of this article that the transformation of intelligence architectures, particularly in the West, is no less profound than that of the weapons, platforms and warfighting systems they are designed to support and enhance. Moreover, the cumulative weight of the changes in prospect will redefine the...
