The Holocaust a Terrible Event

The Holocaust was a terrible time in history. Many people died and few that survived are still living today. One person though is Simon Jeruchim. He was born on December 25th 1929 in Paris France. He lived in Paris until 1942 when he left to go somewhere safe. Even though many people died during the Holocaust, the people who survived have very interesting stories to tell and are a inspiration to others. Simon had a normal childhood before the Holocaust. He had a older sister Alice, a younger brother Michel, and his parents names were Samuel and Sonia Jeruchim. They all lived in Paris and did not know of all the Jews that were going to be persecuted. According to the article, “WWII as Seen By a Child Refugee”, “fortunately, their parents did know of Hitler’s rise in power” (Jeruchim). They had a good life and waited until the Nazis got close to Paris until they left to go into hiding. …show more content…
They went to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Bonneau and their daughter Madeleine. Simon was separated from his siblings and his parents because it was too dangerous for them to stay together. The kids were sent to homes around Normandy. Simon never liked where he was and often moved to different houses. While the kids were hiding the parents tried to leave France, but they got caught and were sent to Auschwitz where they died there. “It would be fifty long years later until the kids found of their parents fate” (Jeruchim). When Simon was at his last house before the Holocaust ended, he got very sick and had a horrible rash. He had to go to the local hospital where the nuns took care of them.
