The marketing environment surrounds and impacts upon the organization. There are three key elements to the marketing environment which are the internal environment, the microenvironment and the macroenvironment. Marketers build both internal and external relationships. Marketers aim to deliver value to satisfied customers, so we need to assess and evaluate our internal business/corporate environment and our external environment which is subdivided into micro and macro.Every manager in an organization observes the outside environment with disciplined methods—marketing research and marketing intelligence—for collecting information about the marketing environment. They also spend more time in customer and competitor environments. By carefully studying the environment, marketers can adapt their strategies to meet new marketplace challenges and opportunities. The microenvironment consists of the actors close to the company that affect its ability to serve its customers—the company, suppliers, marketing intermediaries, customer markets, competitors, and publics. The macroenvironment consists of the larger societal forces that affect the microenvironment—demographic, economic, natural, technological, political, and cultural forces. Marketing research uncovers opportunities for marketers to get their messages across in the extreme changing promotional environment. Over time, the marketing mix must be altered because of changes in the environment in which consumers and businesses exist, work, compete, and make purchasing decisions. Some new consumers and businesses will become part of the target market, while others will drop out of the market; those who remain may have different tastes, needs, incomes, lifestyles, and purchase habits than the original target consumers. Although managers can

Expanding Overseas

...operating a business is not something that comes easily to most people, after all many businesses struggle to keep afloat in their own country forget about opening a business overseas. Running a business can be a challenge especially trying to do it from a different country. There are many things that you need to take into consideration such as language barriers, currency exchange and customs to name a few. Many entrepreneurs look to the international market because they have lower startup costs and there is less business around to compete for startup costs. This by no means makes starting a business overseas easy however; there are definitely tricks to the trade. As with anything there are challenges, setting up an international business takes a lot of time and could potentially take longer than a business started in your own country. Dealing with the international laws and tax regulations is a job in itself. A lot of thought needs to be put into starting the business as there are far more things to think about such as transportation, utilities, internet speed and economic stability. Not many people would think about it but traffic and transportation are huge things to consider. Traveling three miles to the office in the United States which takes ten minutes could take easily three hours while in another country. Opening a business in unfamiliar territory certainly opens up a myriad of roads to be traveled and the possibilities of success are endless. It is all about the time,...

Are Organizations Hindering Employees

...hindering employee whistleblowing? Marshall Dabney ACC-302 I. When reading the article “Are organizations hindering employee whistleblowing,” it mainly talked about fraud in a business. While talking about the different frauds in a business it also talked about ways that you can prevent fraud. The article basically looks at actions businesses can take to avoid accidently discouraging fraud reporting and instead promote whistleblowing. Using a third party admin. To oversee hotlines is considered the best practice that companies use to encourage whistleblowing. In 2009 a study based on interviews of more than 80 managers and published in Auditing: A Journal of practice and Theory, found that employees are more hesitant to report possible fraud to outsiders as opposed to using internal company reporting programs and resources, even if those internal programs don’t follow best practices similar to the external hotlines. Companies want to retain the use of an external reporting system, such as a hotline administered by a third party, rather than bringing it in house. It would be more cost effective and may offer whistleblowing if the third party maintained the hotline. A hotline should be something as a part of the company and not looked at something that’s separated. The name for your hotline should be something that your employees should feel comfortable using at any time and not just for emergencies. SOX requires audit committees of publicly traded companies to provide a...

Business

...Nine reasons to have your own business 1. You Control Your Own Destiny Many entrepreneurs consider themselves "Type-A" personalities, folks that like to take control and make decisions. In other words, owning a business saves them from having to work for anyone else. "One reason to own a small business is the ability to direct the culture of your company," says Kasey Gahler, a certified financial planner in Austin who left a big company to start his own business Gahler Financial three years ago. "When you're in the driver's seat, you are making the decisions on how best to steer your company into the future. This might be overwhelming for some and one must know when and how best to delegate. However, when you are able to make your own decisions about how best to operate day-to-day, this leads to creating a culture, a brand and an organization." 2. You Can Find Your Own Work/Life Balance One of the most oft-cited benefits of owning your own business is the flexibility that comes with it, whether that be working from wherever you want, setting your own hours, wearing a nightgown or even sitting next to your pet while you work. "I get to carry a knife, drive a pickup truck and hang out with my dog a lot more – what can be better than that?" says David Winters, who owns a mobile screen repair business called Screenmobile in Charlotte, North Carolina. Just as important, entrepreneurs say that owning their own business lets them set their priorities. "I make my own schedule...

...a big change’ fRANCISCA gUAJARDO – Felipe Lecaros Part I What issue do you want to ilustrate in your story? The issue about our story Is based in our own experiences, about disloyal people that used to be in our life, but for different circumstances in our separated life, they are not part of it anymore. The main issue is about trust and how this can break really strong relationships, where based on the definition of ‘being willing to depend on the behavior of others and accept a certain vulnerability, assuming that others will not betray us’, so when that ‘other’ person betray you, you are in front of a disloyal person that you cannot rely on him or her. What concepts did you choose to ilustrate the issue you have chosen? The main concepts that we chose and the main reasons were: * Trust We used this concept because they were friends, and Nicolas didn’t have the money to started the business, so their friend trust in all the effort that he put in developed the business and they put more money or their pockets to pay the part of Nicolas. * Fear We used the term Fear, because George worked for more than 2 years to get that money and he felt fear to loss that amount of money, that he worked so hard to get it. * Intuition This concept it used because George had an intuition about that something was missing in the business plan, that was only because he didn’t know all the process that Nicolas follow, George always had been a person that need all in...

Budgeting

...things to ask yourself before you start a business Step One: The Idea Before you start a business, you need a good idea…Let's face it, the single most important step in creating a business is the idea. After all, a good idea can make a company millions or even billions of dollars, while a bad idea can lead it to bankruptcy. And without an idea, you can't create a business.    So it's time to start brainstorming. Think up that next million-dollar idea. If you're stuck and can't think of anything, here are some questions to ask yourself to help you out a little: What are my interests?    Get out a sheet of paper and start writing down some things that interest you. Are you good at sports? Do you like managing other people's money? Are you good with computers? Do you like pets?    It always helps if you start a business in a field that interests you. That way when you're spending your time working on it, you'll have so much fun that you don't even think of it as work. For example, I enjoy money-related stuff. But once a week, I'm required to mow our lawn since I'm the "man of the house". Some of the neighbours need their lawns mowed too. However, because it doesn't interest me, I probably shouldn't start my own lawn-mowing business. If I had some money, what would I buy?    Try to think of something that you think would be cool to buy. It helps if there isn't already something similar out there. If you think something is cool, there is always a chance that others...

Philosophy of Entrepreneurship

...to develop it to manage to launch a business. This is a definition of entrepreneurship from http://www.businessdictionary.com which one I partially disagree: The capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit.  Entrepreneurship is not only about making profit; it can also lead to build up an association or a NGO (non-governmental organization). Entrepreneurship is about begin doing something, and it does not have always to be related with money. Starting one’s own business is a very intense experience, you have to go through a lot of pressure: in addition to cope with a lot of issues, the stress to fail is persistent. The video watched in class, of a family launching a bakery, it is a good example. Failing in a business is not only about losing money, even though losing money is a major point. All the capital invested in the start-up if usually injected mainly by the entrepreneurs. There is also the fact that is a business failed, the entrepreneurs end up to be jobless and then, without income. Failing in a business is dealing with the fact all your energy, hopes and skills use to make something have been useless. It drives to take a new look at oneself and what to do next, which it should be a difficult experience. There is the social aspect as well. You have to assume in front of all your relatives (family, friends…) that you have failed something you had personally undertaken, and...

...IN THE MIDDLE: CUPCAKES Cupcakes are a world-wide phenomenon, almost everyone loves a cupcake. Cupcakes are even a household name, which is why I have begun to start this business. Each of the 4 ps are important because they put together the whole business. You first need a product so you have something to sell; otherwise it’s not a business. Then you need a price to make a profit, a place to sell your product, and finally a promotion. The promotion helps to get your business going. Without all of these, even just missing one, you have no business. The idea for “IN THE MIDDLE” was actually a pregnancy craving I was having. One night I wanted a cupcake but I also wanted a cookie. So I got to thinking what if you could do both? So I went out and bought some stuff and it took off from there. Everyone loved the idea and not many had heard of such a thing. So I took it farther, brownie in the middle, cheesecake and every day I try to take it one step further. Maybe one day I can finally open my own shop. I love to bake always have, I find it relaxing and soothing. So I thought why not make this project on something I know, my own business. The product is cupcakes, with a cookie, brownie, or cheesecake in the middle. Which is where the name came from thought it would be something fun and cute. These cupcakes are made from scratch, from the dough in the middle, to the cupcake batter, to the icing. All done by my hand from my own recipe, nothing is used in someone else’s recipe. It...

Social Networking Sites Freedom of Speech

...Americans always talk about how free their country is and how they have freedom of speech. How much freedom do we really have? Computers and technology have advanced at a rapid pace over the past decade and you can find a computer virtually anywhere you go. You can find computers in schools, businesses, in most homes and even in the palm of your hand with smart phones. According to www.NPR.org (National Public Radio), “Virtually all Americans under age 60 say they have used a computer (92%), and most of them have used the Internet (75%) or sent an e-mail message (67%) at some point in their lives. In addition, more than 8 in 10 Americans under age 60 currently use a computer at home or work (81%).” Computers have become not just a luxury, but a necessity among American culture. We are living in a technological age where we need computers to function in our everyday lives. When a product is made there is always going to be some sort of byproduct that comes along with it. When computers were made the internet came along with it. The internet was originally developed for the military to be able to communicate in the event of a nuclear attack. It was also developed specifically to be used for research and education. Over time the internet became commercially available and it was no longer just for education. It was used for various other things such as entertainment, shopping, social networking or keeping up with news. As technology advanced the more the internet flourished...
