There are many different kinds of practices and many different kinds of methods you can use to make it stick in make it stick in chapter two. “To learn , Retrieve” discusses the ability to recover information from memory while using different methods of learning. In Chapter three”Mix Up Your Practice” . According to the book Make it Stick, the most effective learning methods are, Interleaved practice, varied practice and spaced practice. The ability to use these methods of retrieval practice will help with the ability of learning and to make information stick easier. Spaced practice when you space out your study sessions. Spaced practice helps you in long term retrieval matters.for example the eight surgical residents. They took a series of four short lesson in microsurgery on how to reattach tiny vessels, each lesson included the instruction followed by some practice, almost half the docs completed their practice in one day. Which is a mid range of what an resident should take to complete the practice, and few docs took almost a week to complete the same four lessons but with spaced time in middle. And the outcome of the test given after almost a month after their last session. The residents who use spaced practice outperformed compared to the residents who completed their lessons in just one day (48). From the given evidence in the book Make It Stick spaced practice is more effective than massed practice. Another example would be when fixing the new things in your brain for a long term requires a process of consolidation in which the brain's representation of the new learning is strengthened , and connects to the knowledge from before. Durable learning how ever requires time for mental rehearsal and the other processes of consolidation. But spaced practice works better. And the evidence that proves is stated in the book Make It Stick (49). The increased effort required to regain the knowledge after a little bit of forgetting has the effect to strengthen the power
