In Staiger's description of Hollywood's mode of production, he describes the most effecient system of production which involves detailed divisions of labor. By this, labor is divided into two groups the people who conceive the work (the big name people like Spielberg) and people who execute the work (the smaller names you will see rushing past in the credits). This form of labor division is seen outside of Hollywood in all occupations.
