...The statistics are truly staggering. According to compiled numbers from respected news and research organizations, every second $3,075.64 is being spent on pornography. Every second 28,258 internet users are viewing pornography. In that same second 372 internet users are typing adult search terms into search engines. Every 39 minutes a new pornographic video is being created in the U.S. It’s big business. The pornography industry has larger revenues than Microsoft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, Apple and Netflix combined. 2006 Worldwide Pornography Revenues ballooned to $97.06 billion. 2006 & 2005 U.S. Pornography Industry Revenue Statistics, 2006 Top Adult Search Requests, 2006 Search Engine Request Trends are some of the other statistics revealed here. Internet Pornography Statistics The amount of pornography on the internet can be difficult to fathom. A total of 4.2 million websites contain pornography. That is 12 percent of the total number of websites. There are 100,000 websites that offer pornography and 1 in 7 youths report being solicited for sex on the internet. Top Adult Search Requests and Search Engine Request Trends Internet consumers are most likely to search for the terms “sex,” “adult dating,” and “adult DVD” to access their pornography product of choice. The top 20 search terms also include “teen sex,” “teen porn” and “sex ads.” Some search terms were divided evenly along gender lines. Statistics indicate the term “sex” was searched for as often by female...

...Static Charge Lab In the first part of the lab, two insulators, plexi-glass and a Styrofoam plate, are charged by means of friction by rubbing the two insulators against one another. Each insulator is used to charge a metal pan conductor by placing it near the insulator, known as induction. Grounded neon bulbs were touched to the charged conductor to indicate the direction of electron flow. In the second part of the lab, a charged metal pan was used to store charge in a Leiden Jar capacitor. The charged conductor was touched to the outside metal of theNeon bulbs were used to show the direction of electron flow and prove the Leiden Jar acted as a capacitor by storing the charge and not creating a circuit. The apparatuses used were plexi-glass, a Styrofoam plate, a neon bulb and a metal pan for the first part of the experiment. In the second part, a Leiden Jar was made by wrapping aluminum foil around the outside and inside of the Styrofoam cup and connecting a neon bulb on each side. Plexi-glass and Styrofoam were rubbed against each other to charge by friction. We placed a metal pan above the Styrofoam without touching to charge by induction. A neon bulb, which has two indicator lights to determine the flow of electrons, was touched to the metal pan. When the neon bulb was touched to the metal pan the light on the pan side lit up indicating that the electrons were flowing out of the metal pan. The charges flowing out prove that the Styrofoam insulator was negatively charged...

...Uses of Fluid Mechanics with Relevant References. Fluid mechanics is the application of the laws of fore and motion to fluids. Within fluid mechanics there are two studies of fluid mechanics: Fluid statics, the study if fluids at rest within a system, or Fluid Dynamics which is the study of fluids that are in motion within a system. A fluid is a substance that has no fixed shape and yields easily to external pressure. The substance continually deforms or flows under an applied shear stress. Fluids are a subset of the states of matter and include three of the four states of matter [1]. An example of tangential shear stress can be something as simple as a piece of wood floating on a small body of water. If the force, F, is applied at the end of one side, then the board transmits a tangential shear stress, denoted as, t, to the surface of the water. Shear stress is defined as the tangential to the area over which it acts, and is expressed in the same units as Direct Stress [2]. “If a shear stress is applied to the surface of a solid, the solid will deform a little, and then remain at rest (in its distorted shape). One can say that the solid (at rest) is able to resist the shear stress.” [2] Both the board and the water will move as long as the force exerted and the tangential sheer stress are not equal to zero. Think about this, a fluid can only experience a normal stress when there is no force being acted upon the system obtained by the fluid. Therefore, since the fluid is at...

...- "Lightning in Your Hand" Materials • Two Styrofoam plates • Clear tape (scotch tape) • Aluminum pie pan (8”-9” diameter) • A small piece of wool fabric Attach a Styrofoam strip (1” wide) to the center of the aluminum pie plate on the inside surface of the aluminum plate. This strip will work as a handle. You could also tape an inverted Styrofoam cup on the side to act as a handle. This works best on a cool dry day. If it is too hot and humid it will not work well. Humidity is the enemy of static electricity! Procedure Tape one Styrofoam plate in an upside down position on a table or desktop. Use two small pieces of clear tape at opposite edges. I) Rub the top of the Styrofoam plate with wool or rub across the back of the Styrofoam plate using the sleeve of your sweater. The Styrofoam plate is now charged because electrons from the wool have traveled to the Styrofoam plate. Lift up the aluminum plate with its Styrofoam handle and set it on the taped Styrofoam plate. • What do you feel when you touch the aluminum plate? II) Now lift up the aluminum plate by the handle and touch it with your other hand. • What happens? • What causes this to happen? • What happens if you set the aluminum plate back on the Styrofoam plate? • Why do you think this happens? III) Next take the second Styrofoam plate and rub the bottom with your sweater sleeve or wool. Try setting this second plate on top of the upside down taped Styrofoam plate that has been charged by rubbing. •...

...with the technology of electricity. Electrical engineers work on a wide range of components, devices and systems, from tiny microchips to huge power station generators. Electrical engineering has now subdivided into a wide range of subfields including electronics, digital computers, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, radio-frequency engineering, signal processing, instrumentation, and microelectronics. Early experiments with electricity included primitive batteries and static charges. It has been a subject of scientific interest since at least the early 17th century. The first electrical engineer was probably William Gilbert who designed the versorium: a device that detected the presence of statically charged objects. He was also the first to draw a clear distinction between magnetism and static electricity and is credited with establishing the term electricity. In 1775 Alessandro Volta's scientific experimentations devised the electrophorus, a device that produced a static electric charge, and by 1800 Volta developed the voltaic pile, a forerunner of the electric battery. However, the actual design, construction and manufacturing of useful devices and systems began with the implementation of Michael Faraday’s Law of Induction, which essentially states that the voltage in a circuit is proportional to the rate of change in the magnetic field through the circuit. Some of the most prominent pioneers in electrical engineering include Thomas Edison (electric light...

...difficult because other software written may use the same global variable names and your intentions were to use a local variable, creating name – space pollution. For example, if you are using a module and have to link it with another module, you will get linking errors because there are multiples of the same global name and it may not be thread safe. (Wiki.com). Global variables can be modified or read in any part of the program making it difficult to remember its use, according to Wiki.com/c2. The advantages of using global variables is that they are accessible anywhere in the program, they are declared at the beginning of the program by a global command and you can call them anywhere in the code. Use global variables in a public static field so it can be called anywhere in the programming and it will clog name space usage, (programmer.stachexchange.com). Common data can be declared global so you don’t have to use parameter passing. And because you can use it anywhere, use encapsulation to avoid corruption in the program, (yahoo.com). Global variables are in the assignment window while local variables are in the input box is how global and local variables are declared in a flowchart. In pseudocode, global variables are declared outside a construct or a box, while a local variable is declared inside a construct or a...
